mercedes developed the flagship model with diesel engines so you can have the prettiest, economical sedan out there, this is what automobiles are about.
How powerful did this diesel feel? I am wondering if this S350 is the same one Benz just released here in the US for 2012. Not sure if I should go S550 (the 4.7tt v8) or with the S350. I am worried I may miss the V8 power, but the efficiency and cleanness of the diesel is great.
It doesn't have the insane power of the petrol V8 but it is more than enough to be quick on the road. The keyword here is torque. You have lots of power at low revs to your disposal and in daily driving that is all that makes difference. I have no idea, if you get the same diesel version as here. Mercedes offers different versions of their 3.0 liter diesel, ranging from 231 to 265 HP.

@Laserfrankie One other question, you know with diesel trucks how you have to wait a couple minutes before you start it? While the glow plugs are lighting up? Does this car have to do that or can you just start it right up when its cold?
Modern diesels start pre-heating the combustion chamber the moment you unlock the car. So when you entered and have buckled up, you can start the engine immediately. Only when it's very cold (way into freezing), you might have to wait 2 or 3 seconds. In general diesels need to be warmed up carefully, though. Don't rev them higher than 2000 rpm. until they have reached the optimum temperature.
That one lane road looks like the one you find the dumped murder victims...what country do you live in? Great video. I just read where the 350 bluetec is coming here (US) this year..I still drive a w123 diesel. awesome cars!
@joegolden481 It's in Germany. You can definitely check his other videos cruising this Bluetec W221 on the Autobahn at top speed . Props to you for driving a W123 Diesel btw. We need more Merc diesel in the States indeed!
I enjoyed watching this Video, it was good but need a sexy bird in the car. Whats wrong with you? an S-Class on youtube without a hot chic? Now Merc needs Hybrid engines for cheaper road tax.
I thought I was being polite there. Could have cursed or honked, you know... In general I have something against people cutting me off in the rain, especially when they force me to brake.
please make more videos with s class and be careful how you place the camera. Mercedes S350 BlueTec driven through town in the rain has the best view. make it long too. Thankyou.
what you are making at 0:31 is not good for your car, you will damage steering wheel. you must turning steering during moving a little bit and not when car is stoped.
Firstly that's the first time I hear something like that. Maybe it was so in the 1970's. Seondly, that was a wet cobblestone road with almost no grip at all.
@pobaslo Cut the crap, its not made of chocolate, nothing will happen. These cars go trough more torture than you and me can even imagine during the development to make sure nothing will happen when owners get the car. I'm sure Mercedes thought about making the steering mechanism strong enough not to get damaged if you turn the steering wheel while stationary....
@pobaslo That is absolutely not right. As long as the engine is running, there is no harm done whatsoever by turning the steering wheel when the car is at a complete stop.
men its so anoying when you want to have a good braking distance and some idiot gets in that space aniway good driving and the s-class.... my gad what a car.
Thanks for posting this, Laserfrankie. after the 126 and 140 chasis, there wasn't another S-Class Diesel that was brought into the states. A friend of mine sent me an email letting me know that they will be available here and I'm planning to purchase one when they do!
