  • somebody plz tell me the name of the song at the very begining of the video i have been looking for it forever

  • I love the look on that German officer's face when he says,"what kind of troops are these, chinese"? ha ha ha....

  • A terrible and foolish mistake to do to the Japanese, they were hard working and loyal to America and didn't deserve to be put in camps!

  • Not exactly a proud moment of our history. And it appears the history is slowly repeating itself in America, only with different groups of people this time.

  • a salute to all the US services both men and women serving from the past to the present and future.

  • i am japanese american , i am proud of these men and all of the other americans that fought in the war, i respect every side that fought in the war, the leaders should be blamed for the horrific things that happened during the war, not the people

  • Chick reminds of a sailor I knew in the Navy, except he was Chinese. Sounds and looks just like him! All he talked about was getting some real Chinese food all of West Pac! When when he hit port in Brazil he found a Chinese Restaurant, but he was so disappointed because it was Brazilians doing the cooking! The look on his face was priceless! He always made me laugh!

  • GO! FOR! BROKE!

  • Cut the grudges on the Japanese or the Germans. Blame the people who run their respective state.

  • Beautiful story.

  • LOL. Officers entrance. . . Ah, this is NOT the 54th Massacusetts, or the 9th and 10th Cavalry, buddy. West Asian OFFICERS! “Black”/Asian/Italian/GERMAN officers, NITWIT. From Texas. I wonder what part?

  • wonder why only 1 movie about the 442 was made...

  • @icytadbull there is one that came about a few years ago that got a limited release it's called "Only the Brave", and is Pat Morita's last movie. I happen to see a special screening of it in San Diego with surviving 442nd members and got to meet the stars of the movie!

  • My grandpa was a corporal in the 442nd. He passed away in 2004. Just a few months ago I met some old men who were in that Texan battalion. I saw their veterans caps and asked about their service and said my grandfather also served in Europe. Immediately seeing that I am Asian, they realized my grandpa must have been in the 442. These old men had tears trickling down their faces as they shook my hand vigorously and were very grateful. I only wish I could have told my grandpa about these men!

  • @languageprac My grandfathers were in World War 2, as well. God Bless, in the name of the Creator.

  • One of Best W.W.2 Movie

  • Don't blame the Japanese people for the war blame their dictator Hirohito. My mom was was only 15 when she was ordered to work in an airplane factory in Yokohama. Little known facts: Hirohito punished many Japanese for disobeying his orders and many were executed. Most Japanese people were against taking the Philippines and other Asian countries. It was Hirohito who wanted to take all of Asia. That's why American born Japanese wanted to fight Hirohito and not necessarily Japan.

  • @denny906 Yeah. The bombs and torpedoes that hit Pearl Harbour came from there. I have read Yoko’s war diary, So far from the Bamboo Grove, about what happened to the Japanese in Korea during the war. Those poor Korean slave laborers. . . But 100,000 Americans dead, 500,000 Japanese dead AT LEAST. Terrible. Lo, I am become DEATH, the destroyer of WORLDS. From the Hindu Vedas.

  • @denny906 My grandfather cries every time he thinks about what the 422nd did.. how they fought so loyally for the United States. Although he had immediate family that died in the Philippines (w/ the New Mexico National Guard) he didn't blame the Japanese people for what occurred, he understood that the war was the fault of vain men. War is the greatest evil to vex humanity..

  • I got this movie on a cheapo "collection of ww2 classics" dvd

I was amazed at how progressive the script was- decades ahead of its time.....

I wouldnt mind a remake / re telling... but yeah- hollywood would probably ruin it

  • @hairypolack I meant to give you a thumbs up, not a thumbs down.. sorry.

  • i watched this movies as a kid great film. little is known about there contribution to the U.S of A !!!

  • Awesome movie. Who the fuck are these random racists on here? They need their heads rearranged with a fist or two. If your with me on this--go for broke!

  • To me, this is One of the Greatest WW2 Movies ever produced in the 20th Century and I have this on DVD.

And btw SumariaTogo, you need get off you high horse, cause I'll tell you this...my grandparents from both my mom and dad were Survivors of the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines and at that time, they were in their 20s and they have seen the Atrocities committed by Japanese Soldiers against my People and both Filipino and American Soldiers, especially during the Bataan Death March.

  • WOW! Van Johnson, who woulda thunk? One of the Best of the BEST actors of all time.

@open flix, Thanks for making this movie available.

  • <100/442nd all the way OIF 08-09 HOOOOOAAAHHH!!!

  • This movie definitely has exaggerated stereotypes.

  • @DesuTobi who the fuck cares

  • @DesuTobi

    By the way

Now,in Japan, it is very famous that Australians are fierce racist because of the activities of SeaShepherd.

So please be careful of your comment, regardless of what kind of Australian (Caucasian or Chinese or Korean) you are.

★Japanese are gentle and kind and decent, but never forgive evil people who disgrace Japan like by spreading false history.

  • @SamuraiTogo Are you out of your fucking mind??? The Japanese were brutal merciless people in World War Two. You are incredibly stupid to ignore the rape of Nanking, the Batann death march, the Jap prison camps, the railroad of death and the thousands of British prisones it killed, the hell ships that took prisoners to japan, What are you...some fucking rice eating jap in denial of the brutal crimes committed by your fucking grandfathers??? We kicked your jap ass because of this behavior

  • @SamuraiTogo Sorry do say this but the japanese was the AGGRESSOR and DID MANY EVIL HORRIBLE THING DURING WW2 THERE IS ENORMOUS PROOF FOR THAT NO QUESTION ABOUT IT IT DID HAPPEN, YOU CAN NOT AVOID ANYONE TO PORTRAY THE JAPANESE PARTICULARLY THE SOLDIERS OF WW2, AS VILLAIN ,CRUEL,INHUMAN , THE CRIME THEY COMMITTED TO THE CIVILIAN IN ALL CONQUERED ASIA AND SOUTH PACIFIC ISLANDS

  • @DesuTobi

Sorry but ★Japanese soldiers never did inhumane things except some personal rare cases.

Of course, so-called Japanese war crime is only a propaganda made up by some evil people.

This is the fact. I got your logic, but your premise is wrong.

Japanese are much different from Chinese, Koreans, and Australians.

  • What a ironic history.

Japanese-American Unit was the strongest one among the US army, and Japanese-American unit led allied nations to win the war against Japan-Germany Axis.

Battalions of Great Britain,French,USA,, were easily ruined by German battalion.

But 442 regiment remained in front and won the German battalion several times.

How strong Japanese and German army were!

And homeland Japanese army was much stronger than 442 regiment because of Samurai spirit. What a Great People!

  • @SamuraiTogo or a bunch of savage fanatics, either way, right?

  • @SamuraiTogo @SamuraiTogo and yet they lost to the Go For Brokers who had put everything on the line to do for their parents and what they believe in. "They fought not only the enemy, they fought racism and they won." -Harry T.

"If I am filial, I cannot serve the Emperor. If I serve the Emperor, I cannot be filial." -Bob Kubo

And it wasn't just the 422nd/100th RCT there were the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion and Military Intelligence Service/Nisei Linguist.

  • @SamuraiTogo You're an idiot, I had family that fought the Germans/Italians and a relative that decoded stuff for the MIS in the Pacific. It never mattered on the color of someones skin or the country where their ancestors came from. They were from the United States and fought for it as an American. It's pretty ironic how you say the Japanese had "Samurai spirit" yet somehow he was able to capture and interrogate Japanese POWs. Isn't the Samurai code "Death Before Dishonor"?

  • good movie!

  • Happy Veteran's Day to ALL!! But, especially the 442nd Nisei!!..................May you never be forgotten!!!!

  • Real American hero

  • Cool Japanese G.I's......with M1 Carbine

  • when did the US army integrate different races in the same companies?

  • The Nisei units put final kibosh on the notion that interning Japanese Americans 1941-4 was justified.

  • ナチスをやっつけろ。

  • So hard to see Van Johnson as a racist....so so hard...

  • @madcat08

however he overcame it in the end after he sees the bravery of the men

  • great bunch of men, thank god for their contribution..heroes all !!!!

  • I remember going to the movies and seeing Pork Chop Hill when it first came out. It was 1959; I was nine. Go for Broke came out in 1951, but it was the 60's or 70's before I watched it on TV. Pork Chop Hill was the first movie I saw that showed an integrated US Army. AIthough it was only a movie, I still remember how good that nine year old boy felt seeing Americans of different races fighting side-by-side.

  • ENTRETENIDA LA PELICULA

  • Nisei units served proudly in the Liri valley battles and in the Vosges mts.

  • @IanHunedoara8 Also one of the most decorated units of the war. More medals for valor were awarded to this unit in a shorter time than any other in that theatre of operation.

  • how do you upload such a long video

isnt there a 10 min limit?

  • @Kilooscarromeo- your a fucking beauty, nobody loves you not even your worthless hillbilly mama, everyone around you is directly hurt by you just breathing, you should do what's right and kill yourself..,

  • Amazing how they where always happy... I can't imagine the amount of racism they encountered while serving. And always with a smile on their face. True testament to the nyesia who served our country. If only thier was a remake...

  • People ARE still dumb enough to judge each other based on skin color, the shapes of the eyes, etc. FORTUNATELY, though, the human race is always evolving and getting smarter about that -- the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's wasn't that long ago, after all, and look how far we've come

  • I think it's time for the remake. We've seen "Band Of Brothers", "Navajo Code Talkers", "Private Ryan" (fictional story) how about a remake of "Go For Broke"?

Great true story, great movie, but just a little dated. Great Unit! Bravest in the U S Army in WWII (in my opinion).

Been a while since I watched this. Not bad.

  • @Stovepipe2222

Nope. A remake is not needed. Hollywood is in the business of ruining classics, not improving them.

  • @fireplug111 Amen to that man. people don't know what a good movie is anymore.

  • @fireplug111 A reminder is not bad. . . And Flags of Our Fathers was GREAT.

  • @fireplug111 Though I agree with this. Ken Watanabe to my knowledge is not wanting to do a remake he wants to do a legitimate movie. Knowing how seriously he does things I think he can do the 442 in a movie honorably.

  • @Stovepipe2222 i heard that ken watanabe (from last samurai and letters from iwo jima) is directing a new movie about the 442

  • yes, but two wrongs or three wrongs dont make a right. obama has spent more money than all the bush combined.

  • Hey Ken! Awesome Movie! Glad you get to put it in a whole thing. Very cool Just great flick Thanks for bringing it to a lot of people who don't have a clue of what went on. And what our Men & Women Did & Died for us, and then who they were. Like our Mother & fathers Or even Grandparents by now! Thanks again

  • are these people japanes or hawiian

  • @anatoliy376 They migrated to hawaii from japan and okinawan in the late 1800 early 1900's. Okinawa had a huge migration to hawaii so did japan. I was born in

okinawa but served as a Marine for the USA, just like anyone else people migrate. I am a proud japanese american.

  • @anatoliy376 ha ha ha!!!! funny video, the officer was afraid at first!!

  • very good

  • 21 japanese americans earned the Medal of Honor while serving with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team or its component unit, the 100th Infantry Battalion, making the 442nd the most decorated regiment-sized unit of the war.

  • @Rico8458

so what? it doesn't make any difference anymore.

Bush and Reagan and all the other greedy power pigs have so thoroughly robbed, polluted, and sold this country out to Big Filthy Business, that it's all over, anyway. Nixon sold us to China. The Bushes sold us to Saudi Arabia. Cheney is dumping BRITISH Petroleum on Louisiana. What race and religion are all of them (HINT: not Jews cuz the Reagan/Bush types do their best to exclude them)? America is failing. But know who fucked you.

  • mexico? lol. wet back aliens in america.

  • Best Of The Best

  • yes english french gold coast rhodesian canadian mexican south african Americans and others all had their parts to play.

  • great movie it shows the contribution of the brave japanese americans that fought in world war 2.

  • If only the rest of them had not been penned up...
