When I was in middle school (and I went to two different middle schools) I was one of a few students who were still 13 when we came out of middle school. So I always felt like I was a year behind most kids as far as age is concerned from year to year. Because by the end of the year the others had mostly already had their birthdays.

For a while I was new almost each year, just like them. At one point my family moved a lot, but at least we were in the same area. Still for a couple of years I had be "the new kid" right along with them.

@brief1226 I think it's because so much has changed in the last 10 or so years (wow it's 2012, have to go back a little further than 10 yrs) that there's just a disconnect. Heck there are people my age that say they don't remember a time without the internet. I remember quite clearly when MOST people didn't have computers in their homes and many schools didn't either. I can clearly recall not having cable, sharing tvs. LOL.
@Nikelea I also noticed that once so many new channels were created all the good r&b and hip hop was pushed to other channels like vh1 soul. When I was little I remember everything was played all on the same channels bet vh1 mtv now everything is separated and the radios and tv's main focus is mostly rap like drake nicki minaj. I could be wrong but that's just what I noticed for years.

@Nikelea Yes, it always was, and when they would leave, they would always have the impression they would come back (like if they were going away for six years), and they never did:-(...I'm sure their parents just told them that to make them feel better...I had a lot of teachers whose husbands were in the military leave as well, and they were those awesome teachers like in the movies when one teacher comes and saves the whole school lol...And the replacements never held up...The Rock-No words lol

But yes! We do. I don't mean to offend anyone, and technically we're probably the same generation as these new kids, but I don't know what's going on. A lot of their mindset, and even some people born around the same time as us, is so different from ours.

@brief1226 I think it's because so much has changed in the last 10 or so years (wow it's 2012, have to go back a little further than 10 yrs) that there's just a disconnect. Heck there are people my age that say they don't remember a time without the internet. I remember quite clearly when MOST people didn't have computers in their homes and many schools didn't either. I can clearly recall not having cable, sharing tvs. LOL.

@Nikelea I also noticed that once so many new channels were created all the good r&b and hip hop was pushed to other channels like vh1 soul. When I was little I remember everything was played all on the same channels bet vh1 mtv now everything is separated and the radios and tv's main focus is mostly rap like drake nicki minaj. I could be wrong but that's just what I noticed for years.
