That last crossing signal activated much too early - a minute before train arrival.
The left turn into the non-signalled crossing poses a problem. An idiot driver with stereo blasting might turn in front of a train approaching from behind. (Or do they not allow a left turn there?)
Left turns are allowed. In fact, you might not can tell, but further up at the traffic light, there is a left turn lane also. This road parallells the tracks very closely for about 3 miles, so, if someone turns in front of the train, it's their own problem.
It would be nice if Norfolk Southern would do some heritage units like the Union Pacific did. Would be nice to see some good ole southern green & southern black and gold comming down the line.
Cool zoom out shot! I really love those MoW 'orange blossom' hoppers. That is one weird track layout, between two roads? I have never seen anything like that up north, except street running in a few towns.
I guest there aren't many multiple track mainlines in the south on the NS, but I don't know.
I know I wasn't a big Conrail fan, but I have to admit, NS is my railroad of choice when shooting video for many years now, an I have always loved the Pittsburgh to Reading section, where there is multiple tracks and heavy action, guess am spoiled........

Thanks.
I meant the crossing at 2:17.
Traffic signals can prohibit left turns when the crossing signals are activated.
But uncontroled left turns can be a problem.

Would somebody please inform the genius that went around the gate that his Darwinism has been caught red handed in the cookie jar.
I like this in your face angle.

One problem with that HyperActive7, there is no gate, or lights for that matter. Just crossbucks.

Nice shot. Am I right in thinking this is the "old" camera?
hoolg 4 years ago
The "old" video camera, yes. It has a 20x analog zoom compared to my little bitty digital cameras 5X zoom.
