PRICELESS!!! and promoters i've never heard of wonder why i wont work with them... lol so hey man uh how bout i pay half your expenses for you to come to my party in some mud pit thats not tarped off during rainy season... i'll cover your gas for half the trip man! you need anything else? a rickety ladder to stick all your projectors on maybe? FUCK YOU KID! i get atleast what your headliner gets since thats the only dj your paying anyways or dont waste my time talking to me.
this is so true. and getting stiffed at the end. it is nice to rock the house but putting 40 hours into a party for a couple of hundred dollars does suck especially when the promoters short you in the end. technobeeztv.
I guess everyone watches the VJ's work on the screens, but only a few get to see the VJ in action. They are always out of the spotlight .. next to a cage of beers! :P
There is a way to be sure to get paid and it works. I do lighting, but I'm also an electrician. I made sure the sound was powered by MY distro(s) that I tied into the main panel with MY breaker(s). I give a specific written deadline to when I will be paid. The promoters begin freaking out when I say at 10min before deadline, "the first piece of my equipment to be turned off is (of coarse) MY distro box". ;-) No sound, no party. THEN watch the excuses start flying: not enough tix sold, alrea
Holy crap, it's a promoters 'rubber stamp' of Q&A booking arrangements! Typical. Why not just pay the promoter to bust your ass and skip the BS negotiations? LMFAO Great Video!!!
Well, this is what's happening in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia for the clubbing scene ..I can say screw all that shit, U know what we VJ's can do and pls pay up . ;o)
I once talked to some folks about a charity event. OK, you don't get paid when you do something for charity, but they had this attitude that they were doing ME a favor by bringing in my $50K of gear to do this thing. I don't think so.
even there are a lot of "vjs" that do this where I live, with out equipment all the time and doing like shit any thing ....jajajajajajajajajajajajajaja......
`Learn to mix sound & you can earn some money, learn to edit video & you can earn more... Learn lighting & you can earn some more, learn to shoot, do FX & animate & you can earn even more... Put all those skills together & learn to do it all in realtime - you might not get paid at all!'
To quote Dave Hyperdelic... `I gave up doing visuals because I was tired of being first in, last out & getting paid less than the coatcheck girl!'

This is so so funny.
One reason why I only VJ for free for events that sound artistically fun to me, at least I know what I'm getting into and don't expect the pay.
Been asked one time to VJ for free then last minute they make up excuses as to why they don't need me. More promoters need to see this video.
'You can get a free drink". ROFL!!! Just trying to get one on the night is a joke in itself.
Major props for whoever made this video.
