  • i think my his 5850 is faulty, i get lots of driver response issues and blue screens

  • @BlackHawkPGA If you right click on my computer in the start menu then go down to properties and then you can see you pc's specs

  • I have GeForce 9500 GT (1GB) and I Don't know how big my DDR is...anywhere I can found that info. ?

    P.S. I don't know where my recite is >_<

  • @BlackHawkPGA do you know google?

  • THE BEST VIDEO CARD 5850 !!!!!!!!!!

  • I was gonna buy this card and crossfire it, but is it even necessary

  • Psu requirements says 550w, but my NX 5000 500w psu runs it no prob. Allthought i upgraded to Corsari Ax 750 and that can run GTX 590 without any problems :)

  • Recommended power supply... somewhere around 550W, I figure?

  • @Solaris1493 ive been running my 5850 (this same model) on a stock 550w PSU from my Coolermaster case and its been fine.

  • Dear which application you are using for overclocking????

  • 22 people are Nvidia bum boys

  • @garystorey nvidia was shitty from the getgo anyways.

  • I really want this card but from ASUS... Not this HIS crap...

  • @arvelos76 why not HIS?

  • @skaterboy379 Do you know any HIS motherboard to connect a HIS video card? Thats why they suck.

  • @arvelos76 u can pretty much use it with any mobo as long as its a 16x lane & is either 2.0 or 2.1 compatible.

  • @skaterboy379 You dont get it. ASUS video cards have a "thingy" that works with the "thingy" that ASUS motherboards have to OVERCLOCK THE DAMN THING!!! Let me show you the big picture. I have a ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo board and i have two ASUS EAH4770. If i ONLY overclock the videocards i would have 830mhz core\ 850mhz memories. WITH my ASUS motherboard AND my ASUS video cards i have 900Mhz clock AND 1000mhz memories. It passes from 3.2gbs to 4.0gbs EACH. Wich makes 8.0Gbps instead of 6.4Gbps.Get it?

  • @arvelos76 yea but does it matter in any specific area if i'm not overclocking?

  • @arvelos76 yea but does it matter in any specific area if i'm not overclocking? like i could use gigabyte mobo with a sapphire card?

  • @skaterboy379 In that case you wont get the potencial of a full overclock. Imagine that you want the 5870 but you can only afford the 5850. If you already have a good ASUS motherboard, you cant set a ASUS EAH5850 to be BETTER than a regular or standard of any brand 5870... You can save your money to buy a new skate for example... lol. My two 4770's cost me 1\3 of a 4890 and they perform the same and they consume less power at lower temperatures...

  • @arvelos76 yea but say say for example i buy just a sapphire 5770 , could i then use it with any mobo if im not overclocking without any issues? thnx for the help.

  • @skaterboy379 Sure... you can do that with no problem. The 5770 is the best 128bit video card there is... But why Sapphire? Whats your motherboard? Gigabyte? ASUS? MSI?

  • @skaterboy379 im thinking of getting a HIS 5770, Asus rampage 3 or Asus P6td deluxe mobo.

  • @skaterboy379 If you ONLY have a HIS video card, it sucks cause you only can tweak the video card slightly...

  • 5850 or 6850? please help!

  • @CrissRockss 5850, the 68xx series of cards were to replace the 57xx series of cards, therefore making the 5850 significantly better. But the 6870 is better than the 5850.

  • will it fit in small mini case like SG05?

  • does turning the fan to maximum use a lot of power?

  • Can´t wait for directx 20

  • @SCAREDBANANA lololo

  • @SCAREDBANANA u probably be dead by now, our sons are gonna use it

  • just got mine last week... and oced it at 850/1200 (5870 clocks) and its now close to 5870 performance benchmark wise... check out my crysis vids very good fps maxed out @ 1400x900 resolution.. still bang for the buck

  • @franzken I actually run a 5850 at those frequencies too. I got about 17000 with 3dmark vantage (1500 stock), the 5870 gets about 19000 stock. So I guess those 160 extra stream processors the 5870 has must do something special..

  • Only crap thing, and I just realised this, is that the 6pin power cables are at the side....it's a pretty big card, and it's on the side :x not sure if it will fit in my case now :(

  • @skipskops what case do you have?

it was a tight fit in my mid but not a problem

  • @MrPrunecandy Well I actually have or....had a GTX 280, it died...second time I've RMAd this thing now, so I'm done, no more nvidia cards for me. Anyways, the GTX 280 is actually bigger than the 5850, so I should be fine now :)

The case is an average case I guess. Nothing special, no sort of make.

  • The 5850 is a powerhouse. It can even match against the GTX 470-80, Nvidia's most powerful GPUs. GTX 480 only has higher memory bandwidth and pixel fill but the HD 5850 has higher core/memory clock, shader/texture operations. And ATI is ahead with DX11 support.

The price is also reasonable, and it only uses 151 watts max. While the GTS250 alone is 150w max. HD 5870 and 5970 = insanity.

  • damn that thing gets loud!

  • i currently have a his 5850 icooler V 1gb ddr5... is it ok to crossfire it with 5830... or just save some more for another 5850?

  • @franzken you need another 5850, you cant cross chipsets, though you can cross models

  • @camdened123456 ok saving up for another 5850 then hopefully price drop this xmas

  • hello i'm a noob , i wanna ask if this card would work well in an motherboard with 780g and 700 sb,?? i also want to ask if this card would work well in a gigabyte 720w (610w True watts) in crossfire, i have read it would only consume 151 watts at max , i have a phenom 2 x4 955 BE , 6 120mm fans, 1 generic 2gb memory, h50 corsair water cooler and 2 cathode tubes????

  • 4:48

Dear passengers, we are on the runway ready to begin the flight.!

  • what is the best videocard and ''buyable'' the 5830 or the 4870 (sapphire)

  • @putadelsol 5850

  • @poepsunom i asked 5830 or the hd4870 not the 5850 -___-'

  • @putadelsol

From those too, you should definitely get the HD5830 if you get it for a good price. Those 5830's tend to be a bit over priced for the performance they are giving though. But against the 4870, it's the better choice. It runs a lot cooler and has better performance. Tell me the models (and their price) you've been looking at and I will know better.

Send me a PM, if you don't want any stupid replies from people. :P

  • @th4970 i'm going to buy a 5830 xfx (maybe) thx by the way ;)

  • dose this card have overhang from a mATX mobo? (will it fit in my thermaltake lanbox lite??)

  • .. There are so many 5850. Can some one recommend me a good 5850 card for about 600 dollars or so?

  • @TheDaki75 there may be many hd5850's but all of them are more or less the same. just different stickers or coolers.

  • @DavidPlim They have different engine clock speed and memory data rate etc.. Thats why I dont know which one to pick.

  • @TheDaki75 pick the lowest clock speed but as much data rate as you can, then use amd overdrive afterwards and overclock it. it saves you the most money but gives you best peformance

  • @DavidPlim just to be clear, you mean the pick the most memory data rate?

  • @TheDaki75 yes, just buy the cheapest one with the highest data rate. Then you can just over-clock it to make it better than other versions of the card, oh don't forget to turn the fan speed up a small bit as well

  • @DavidPlim Ok thx man! I think Im gonna buy the xfx hd 5850 XXX with 4.5 GHz memory data rate.

  • @TheDaki75 5850's are only about 300$

    And I recommend XFX

  • holy shit, that thing is f'ing loud

  • this video help me i was going to get 2x Radeon HD 5770 ...but now i will get one Radeon HD 5850 now an one more later...ty

  • @In6My6Darkness6 arent 2 5770 more powerful then 5870??

  • @CoreMaster111 No, I think not.

  • @mathias921 actually 2 5770 in CF are faster then 1 5870...

  • @CoreMaster111 No, I think not.

  • @mathias921 go look some benchmarks and you'll see that it's faster....

  • @CoreMaster111 This video tells me not to trust you, your IQ is ultra low: youtube.com/watch?v=_mmVHfOvKWc&feature=related

  • @mathias921 FUCK U WITH UR IQ....

  • @CoreMaster111 Indeed ;)

  • @mathias921 if u think i have very low IQ then u dont have 0 IQ dumb swedish fucktard

  • @CoreMaster111 By swearing once again; it's proven that you've got black gens in your system, have a good one Miss.

  • @mathias921 FUCK U!!!!!!!!

  • @mathias921 gens?

  • @hacker13sacker Yes, gens -> chromosomes AKA DNA?

  • These cards are just so loud!!!

  • is it easy to overclock this card?

  • @AznUnboxer

    YES! stupidly easy!

you can get 1000Mhz core clock and 1200Mhz memory clock on air! :O:O:O

i have at the moment 1100Mhz/1300Mhz on water! :D

  • Okay, i need some peoples opinion. I'm buying a new gaming rig and im wondering, either i buy a system with "only" a 5850 graphics card BUT with a mionix 5000 mouse and a steelseries mat OR i buy a system with a 5870 graphicscard but no mouse and no mat. Wich one should i buy (same rig just different parts).

    Answers really appreciated.

    //mmacritic

  • @mmacritics just get the better graphics card if you have the money.. you really don't need an expensive mouse/mat.. the mx518 continues to deliver over and over for me

  • @mmacritics why would u need an expensive mouse and mat dude? screw the mouse and mat and buy the one with the 5870, and then buy a 10 dollar mouse

  • This should be 100% kickass because of the price to performance ratio compared to the 5870.

  • i got XFX 5850 1GB GDDR5 with a corsair 550w and it woorks fine.

  • Check my gaming pc with 5850: /watch?v=6CaZxPhC_I8

  • Is the 5xxx series from ATI compatible with PIC-E 1.0? (as in can the card work in PCI-E 1.0)

  • @AIgcSWY no, i don't think so

  • @AIgcSWY all pci-e slots are backwards compatable

  • @naka538

I probably should've been more specific. What I was wondering is if the PCI-E 1.0 on a motherboard would support the PCI-E ("2.1"?) Not if the motherboard is backwards compatible. Btw I know it is now but thanks anyways. It fits into the PCI-E slot and it works and its not slowed down or getting to low power! ( I know since I'm freaking using one :>) Peace

  • @naka538 thx man

  • just wondering, is it possible to remove the sticker cleanly?

  • The 5850 uses roughly the same power as the 4850 but with double the performance. So all you need is a 550W power supply

  • this video card is the best one to get for the money. It can be overclocked to virtually the same level that the 5870, costs around 250$, and its as good as nvidia 470.

  • 3dgameman i watched your videos on product reviews since my first custom pc purchase with the cosmos 1000 case. I always enjoyed your videos, but lately you disabled comment. Youtube comments on your videos is what makes your channel special, and fun. You may have not liked it, but it was what it created you today. Rodney, follow other tech websites and see what they do. Comeback and rethink what you have done. Till then, i'm unsubscribed.

  • Its like a 747 ready for teakeoff!

  • This guy sounds like he'd be better as a late night salesman lol.

  • I don't know what brand to get, XFX, HIS or the Sapphire Vapor-X

  • @itchyt1t

I know the HIS has good power consumption and fan noise.

    Looks good.

This card will take you on an Odyssey.

  • @itchyt1t I always buy xfx for its double life time warranty, so i can sell it without worry. Hey i sold my xfx 260 a few months ago at $300 and i bought last year at $210 and i am very satisfied. (I did not want the xfx 260 to be sold, so had it at a high price). His is good at cooling and extra accessories. Sapphire vapor-x is also good at cooling. The atomic version is the best. But it is hard to find in the market...

  • @itchyt1t XFX has a good warranty. The vapor-x model guarantees lower temps. They are all at the same specs, and around the same price. Just choose the one you feel confortable with.

  • does anyone know where to get the displayport converter in uk ? for 3rd monitor.

  • but little dissaponted i was because no toolkit was included :(

  • just bought this card and it rocks. and im using 500w psu.

  • there really isnt much difference between the 5850 and 5870 the 5870 costs 100 euros more....

  • Wait it doesn't support 1920x1200 through HDMI? What the hell?

  • it sounds like a vacuum cleaner over 60% :D

  • my setup. q6600 3.0Ghz 8800gt and nexus nx 5000 500w psu...will i be able to upgrade to this video card. i heard that it consumes less power than 8800gt. is that true.

  • i have a i3 530 2.9ghz with 4 gig ddr3 ram and at moment have a gtx 260 graphs card,if i changed it to a hd 5850 would it run my games better ?

  • @ballshavins yes sure

    hd 5850=gtx470

    gtx 260= hd4890

  • @ademar9988 Benchmarks will prove this wrong. 4890 is more equal to a GTX 275 and I read correctly that a GTX470 is faster in benchmarks than the 5850.

  • @ademar9988 @ademar9988 Benchmarks will prove this wrong. 4890 is more equal to a GTX 275 and I read correctly that a GTX470 is faster in benchmarks than the 5850.

  • Will a 500W PSU be enough to run this card and an AMD Phenom II X4 965? I don't plan to crossfire in the future.

  • @KokoaShuzen Should be enough but this the absolute minimum.

  • @KokoaShuzen if you have a god psu like corsair cooler master etc...yes

for example i have the cooler master m520 run great

    sorry for my english

  • @ademar9988 I'm using a Silverstone Strider 500W and no problems to report =)

  • wow how long have u been doing these vlogs?

  • would 650w be enough to run 2 of those

  • @eythorion Yes, it would be enough wattage but it depends on the quality of your power supply. I suggest going to the AMD official website, they have a list of compatable power supplies for Crossfire use with this graphics card. Also, i suggest a PSU with a single +12V rail as it's better for multiple video cards.

  • why on earth would a "gamer kit" come with a level?

  • @jtmarsh82 You really need an answer for that?....Well Ill be nice and play along and pretend you are stupid....When building a PC, the "PRO'S" like to be alittle to perfect. Especialy with there own rigs, Including system placement on a "Level" surface and leveling internal component's for mathmaticaly correct positioning or diy ajustments to a case. I hope this answers your question.

  • A 500 W Corsair is more than enough!

  • ahhhhhh i want this carrddd!!!

  • Ok,i'm wondering or my PSU can run this card

    my current PC spec's are

    Core i5 750

4 GB ram at 1333 mhz

and i am currently running a 9800GT overclocked.

I'm planning to only run one

    With a 500 Watt PSU.

  • you are fine as long as you only run one HDD

  • Yeasily with high quality like Antec, Corsair etc

  • @CobraProductionsTV i ran a core 2 duo with 4g ram and 2x 9800gts with a thermaltake 500w with no issues. Bought a single 5850 and am now having power issues.... :D

  • your power supply must have ran like shit, or been a low budget one, cause i have a OCZ Fatal1ty and its only 550 W and im having no problems with this

  • no man thats not going to be enough, 500w is minimum for the card! not including anything else, try for a 750watt.

  • uh dude, you must be a newb, no offense, but this card only consumes 150 or so watts, by itsself.

  • 500 wats is pleanty... Dont spend more money than you need to.

  • how many watt of psu is good for this gpu? can 550w run it?

  • Comment removed

  • @bogellenong no, depends on the amps more

  • @bogellenong i got 550w, i think 500w is the minimum for this card

  • yes, the recommended is 500watt but it depends if you have lots of expansions card soundcard, media controll etc.

  • i was recomended a 650watt - but i went with 850 as it was only an extra £10-£15.

    (Type - Modular

    Brand - Chieftec)

  • depends on your other specs suchs as your cpu, ram and number of harddrives.

  • eh I would get a 700 watt at least

  • The max overclock is wrong. My one gets up to 860mhz gpu, 1200 mhz memory on stock Voltage. If u increase it a bit u can get 1000mhz gpu on air. Mabe it should be mentioned that the HD 5850 runs at lower stock voltage than the HD 5870.

  • not all gpus are the same...

  • those benchmarks were almost identical of the gtx 275 (the card I own), so it looks like its not an upgrade (directx11 is cool, but its just starting). Maybe I'll wait if the 5870 costs less in a few months, i think that would be an upgrade then. maybe I'm wrong, benchmarks are confusing

  • @Aristowi The 5850 should be faster than a GTX 285. Maybe you should look again.

  • kay thanks.

  • Just ordered two of these :) Replacing a single GTX 285.

  • @parkinsonliam

    O-O-O-OVERKILL...kill...kill....

  • overkill for now, in a couple of years? Likely needed.

  • *couple of years later*

    Lol dx 13

  • Woops, ment dx 12

  • I have had this card for about a month now and I am really happy with it but the price is really what makes this card awesome. I feel like they are letting us steal it! Just like the ti4200 made me feel back when Nvdia cards didn't catch on fire!

  • i play at resolution of 920x1080 is this a good card for those resolutions or is the 5870 worth paying 100buks more??

    thanks

  • this card is perfect for that res :D thats y im getting it i have a 24" 1920x1080 monitor.

  • What about the XFX HD 5850 black edition ? Is it better than the Sapphire?

  • Black edition is always better than regular ones.

  • Well hard to say.. There is a Sapphire HD 5850 Toxic edition coming, It is oc'd too.

  • I'm only 13... And spending about £100-400 on a gaming rig, I'll put the card in but whats the cheapest price for intle I7, or should I just use i5 or i3? For crysis and other games.

  • @Avataryoutuification AMD is better for gaming, i7, i5 and i3 is just better to render things like photoshop!!!

  • go with a amd proccessor brrrooooooooo!

  • @Avataryoutuification dont listen to that guy, go for intel i5 750 it performs similarly to the i7 920 and is very ocercloackable while being much cheaper. i dont know if this will fit your budget though, amd is an option if you cant afford intel.

  • Skip the i7 because there a bit overrated for gaming. If you can afford a i5 750 get one of those if not get an good AMD Phenom 2 x4. Never get an i5 6xx or an i3 for gaming. The have integrated video cards and instead of 4 the have 2 cores with is a big NO WAY for gaming.

  • nothing wrong with 2 cores, and the i5 6x's and all i3's have hyper threading so its like 4 cores.

  • To bad games don't support hyper treating. Buying an CPU with an GPU build in for gaming is stupid.

  • and you won't be getting too great of a rig for 100 - 400 pounds.... you won't get anything for 100..

  • hey its a 650watts psu enough to keep this card nicely??

  • @PcMrGaming

on my system i have 3 120mm fans. a E8400 CPU at stock settings, one WD caviar green 1tb hdd and this exact card on a 550w psu and im fine. i used a Power supply estimation tool used by corsair (thanks for the tip rodney!) and it even said i could use a 450 (although not reccommended) 650 is plenty if its a quality PSU.

  • my friend have 500w and its enought

  • ive heard rumors that the radeon cards dont support over 85 Hz on the monitor. is that true?

  • hy.please tall my whatt powersuply i need for a crossfire for the 5850,thz you are the best !!!

  • I never got the tool kit

  • republic of gamers logo on the laptop screen at his background!

  • what is the price?

  • Google

  • sounds like a hairdryer...

  • 100% kickass plz?

  • A question, an ATI HD 5850 HIS, work in a processor or an Intel motherboard?

  • I have dream!!!!

  • This card is definately one hell of a beast. The prize isn't actually so high when you keep in mind that this card beats GTX285 pretty easily in most benchmarks and games. It can be OC'd very, very easily with 3rd party tools while still running cooler than similar nvidia cards @ stock clocks. Not to mention the superb DX11 support...

I've been very happy with this card. It's definately worth the 300$.

  • @Shotgunhavoc do you think a 650 w psu will do this card right?

  • 650W is definately enough for a Radeon card.

  • I bought the card, OC'd and is working great with 630 wat PSU, trust me, You will be very happy with this card :)

  • hows the grey screen of death in this baby? Im planning on buying one next month or should I just wait for fermi?

  • does anyone know when the price is going to be lowerd on this card? =)

  • I guess in about two months when the GF100 series from NVIDIA come out.

  • I hope the price goes down soon b/c $310 is way too much for this card. This card only gets about 10 more FPS than my XFX 4870 1GB why so much money? I could just get a 5770 equal to my current card but DX11 & then OC it to get those 10 extra frames. Just don't see the point in wasting the money for such little performance increase.

  • Runs about 80% cooler, and will have less fps drops.
