I completely agree with you. First time I heard the song I couldn't believe it was Garbage. It seemed too dark, but it is my favorite Garbage song to date. "You Look So Fine" (another Garbage song) is more romantic than this.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Evanescence. Listen to their song Lithium. Just type "lithium" in a youtube search and you'll find it. In general, they supply a lot of great music, both rock as well as lighter stuff, too. Another band is Flyleaf. I've heard they're Christian and that may be true, but I like their music nonetheless. They have a lot of good songs out as well, one of which is "Cassie" which has a powerful meaning behind the lyrics.
