  • Incomparable!

Perfect shaping and musical argument with the utmost sense of good taste.

Others might acceptably play this differently, but not better.

  • Surguey?

  • @keetner He spelled it "Serguey", one of many, "Sergey", and Sergei is how Rachmaninoff spelled it after he came to live in the U.S. Spelling doesn't matter, this is the most surreal performance ever of Rach's Moments, then again it is Rach performing :-))

  • @Bret6464

Nah, to be honest I think anything besides the Russian spelling is "wrong", heh.

I just found it interesting because I've never seen anyone spell it as "Serguey" lol.

  • This is excellent, it feels like the pianist really understands what the composer intended. Oh, wait a minute...

  • Epic!

  • 'Rachmaninov plays Rachmaninov.'

  • Thank you so much for posting this! FABULOUS music making....E.Bice, Vienna

  • I cried two years ago when I first heard it... so I opened it now again and burst into tears... This moment drives me too nervous and mad... I will never open it again because our ears are too filthy to listen to this inhuman piece...

  • thank you for posting this, it is my all time favorite piece for piano, and I am completely in love with the version by arcadi volodos, which comes rather close to the intentions of mr. Rachmaninov himself! I find this recording sublime, thank you!

  • I´m so glad Rachmaninov did so many recordings. I wish he had recorded the entire Moment Musicals. I´m working on this piece right now. Boy, I´m happy that he edited the piece in 1940.. Certainly makes things easier. And that he recorded the edited version! Great playing as always.

  • A lot of us wish he had recorded the entire Moment Musicaux, that would have been nothing short of a treasure :-)

I have a playlist of a few more extraordinary Moment on my channel, Rach playing moment 2, Horowitz moment 2, Horowitz moment 3, Moiseiwitch moment 4, Jung Lin moment 4, and Gilels moment 5 :-)

  • Hard to describe how beautiful! He takes you to an extraordinary state where there are only feelings and emotions that captivate. You hear him, his pain, his sadness and his joy!

    Rachmaninoff is eternal

  • Such beautiful playing.

  • I am mourning the death of legato with most modern pianists... Hoorah racmaninioff!

  • Thanks for this recording. The dynamic shifts are amazing.

Ugh. Accidentally gave a 4-star...although this deserves much more than a 5 star.

  • *believe. xD I'm so phhhh :D

  • Would you please express your feelings more clearly.

  • Only 32 people? Can't beilve.

This is GREAT! Thanks for posting :):):)

  • Thanks for joining us!
