Many days later another caravan was passing and a man saw something on top of the highest dune there. And when they went up to see, they found Outka, Mimouna and Aicha; they were still there, lying the same way as when they had gone to sleep. And all three of the glasses... were full of sand. That was how they had their tea in the Sahara. -The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles
The blue within blue eyes is a nod at the sci-fi book "Dune". If a visionary film maker were to redo Dune, this song would fit in. Lots of the Police songs would. The guy that did Dune using Toto: one big FAIL for musicality.
@Imachowderhead Synchronicity concert was *the* best concert I ever attended. It was my 1st year of graduate school, 1983, and I went w. my cousin and 5 of his classmates from St. Louis U. High School (an all-boys' Catholic school). I was the only female in our group. Excellent music, excellent company. Doesn't get any better than that.
@funch357 I went to this same concert in October of 83 & as you describe excellent music, excellent company and it was also the best concert I have ever been to..I especially remember this song from the concert..

I enjoyed Paul Bowles' The Sheltering Sky, so I was compelled to listen to this song. I think it needed a longer ending. Other than that, this is just fantastic. I love the magic atmosphere it creates with such minimal flourishes. This is perfect earphone music.
This song brings back so many sweet memories. Once upon a time there was a girl who dreamed of being an egyptologist and she loved this song so much. Now she is so far away, in USA making her dream a real thing. And I listen nostalgic to this wonderful melody.
Your sound is GREAT !!!

Reminds me of Walking on the moon, it has that same haunting dream like sound to it.
Adore the police, no one else sounds like them which is why a lot of bands and so-called artists piss me off.
Very few of them have a unique style any more.

Yes brother no one reads any more.
Three lines out of the song are practically quotes, but still is ingenious; you can get it, or you can just dig it.
We get it.

@RevDrDark - I'm not a brother and I still read voraciously. :) The world is a cesspool of Bieber & GAGa and other assorted Illuminati garbage. lol
