  • Cool Song, and awesome lyrics

  • I'm in love with the song:-) still all the years!

  • This was my Grandpa's favorite song, i cant help but cry every time I hear it. I Love You Grandpa.

  • i have matured listening to this song,, sometimes a relationship can abrupt and you lose something great, but the memories created during that relationship will last forever,, so i am thankful for what i have now, and will take advantage of it :)

  • Ahhhh...the Summer of 1980. What a Summer.

  • seger is one of the steadfast and best of the good old daysand i know alot about old time rock n roll

  • Love this song. Hear it at work all the time. Thank u for the post

  • What brilliant lyrics to a song that describes my failure of a life..what I feel so deeply, the hurts, the regrets, the battles I lost..this song says it all for me..I think I want this played at my funeral.

  • @samthecat07 Don't sweat the small stuff, and believe me,it's all small stuff. You are a human being who is created in God's image.Your life is worth something even if you never accomplish a thing in your life, and don't let anything or anyone tell you otherwise.

  • @samthecat07 My life feels like a failure too, so you arent alone. And i know this song resonates so strong that it hurts..but im sure you have succeeded as much as you have failed. I cant believe you said you want it played at your funeral..so do I! I wonder if Mr. Segar knows how powerful this song is to us...God Bless

  • @ckotcher1 Thank you for taking the time to write words of encouragement..it means a lot. It is a rare song that cuts to the bone with pure rawness, a sense of doom and utter failure, but strangely, at the same time giving us a sense of strength and hope. The group Kansas was right, we're only dust in the wind, but like Bob Seger says "we've got to keep running...against the wind." Paul said to persevere and finish the race for the prize that awaits us. May God bless you also my friend.

  • @samthecat07 Whew, you guys here listening to this and commenting are makin me tear up and I have no qualms about saying it. Just came here to get the chords so I can rehearse this tune with a friend but wanted to say I'm with you all. Me, mid-30's, frustrated and confused, and going thru some life changes I'm utterly unprepared for. Don't think I'll ever make it back to a carefree, contented mindset. Wishing you all some peace of mind.

  • Comment removed

  • @danjugle Theres no shame in tear-ing up my friend...Im mid thirties too and am facing all the uncertianties you are, it sounds like...so your not alone at all..and I wish you the best of luck in whatever life changes you are facing...Also, I appreciate your bold honesty, its refreshing! I dont feel Ill ever get back to that carefree mindset again either and it scares me...By the way, another song that reminds me of this one and one I can relate to is "Running on Empty" by Jackson Brow

  • How can any human on this planet not be able to relate to this song in one way or another ?

  • @MRjimmvinnburr educate yourself please the systm is broke, its two sides of the same coin

  • I always love to hear this song when it seems like everything in my life is like fighting against the wind. Listening to it always makes me feel better. Bob Seger puts so much emotion in his words and music, you can't help but relate to the songs at times. This is one of the greatest songs of our time. May it live on forever.

  • this song sucks

  • @FiendishAbyss What? Idiot!

  • @FiendishAbyss lol, u my friend are mis-informed about things now days, lolololol, have fun with your new jungle beat shit,

  • @FiendishAbyss hey everyone.its a troll! let him talk his garbage

  • oh but ckotcher you have integrety and honesty some attributes so lacking these days try not to be hard on yourself the world will do that for you i hope you find someone to take the edge off lonelyy

  • Cheer up Ckotcher and happy bday

  • Well, i'm older now and still running against the wind.

  • I just want to say that today is my birthday, im 36 years old. Almost as old as this song...And this song describes my life!!! EVERY LYRIC! It makes me cry :( "The years roll slowly past, and I find myself alone..surronded by strangers i thought were my friensd.....I guess I lost my way...there were oh so many roads......" Sometimes I want to take my own life....because im so lonely :( Im 36 with nothing to show for it...But this song at least makes me feel like Bob had his hard days too..

  • @ckotcher1 the fact that you reconize your situation in a public media. shows that you have integrity and you are very strong. Don

t give up 36 is very young and you have a whole life in front of you.

  • @TheKoresanudo Thank you! And here I thought that people would ostracize me for revealing so much but you guys have embraced my words and it means everything to me....GOD BLESS YOU!

  • @ckotcher1 : Nothing is impossible, there is always a way, things seem impossible when we look at them as mountains. Just see them as a bunch of small pebbles, just take one pebble off at a time, soon the mountain will fall and you will win. Reality is, NO ONE CARES, but knowing this reality makes you stronger to create the life you want. In the end, take of yourself and stay safe. Most of the answers in life are right in front of us, we just need to notice.

  • @RayInMiami Thank you so much for your kind words.....means alot....

  • @ckotcher1 Man I feel the same way sometimes. If nothing else, we at least can live to dream of days gone by. Even if we have to cry, we cry dreaming, but we never cry alone. Remember that.....we never cry alone.

  • @esvacboy1 over 5 million people have listened to this here ... surely there's hope. Had to console my 23 year old son last night cos (at 23) he 'hasn't achieved anything'. I think there's real tenderness in this song. I've loved it since it came out. Tenderness for his/our human frailty ... and without which we wouldn't be human, anyway ...

  • @yodasoulman I've got a 23 yr old son also in the same headspace so tell your boy he's not alone. Kids today are under too much pressure. Life was so much more laid back when we were that age. Love this song btw.

  • @staff50ord Thanks. Agree about the pressure then and now. Agree about the song. One positive is that our relationship will let us talk, and that feels fundamentally strong.

  • @esvacboy1 Thankyou so much.....and you are so right....Sometimes dreaming of days gone by is all we can do and be thankful for those times..."And i remember what she said to me, how she SWORE that it never would end......I wish I didnt know now, what i didnt know then :("

  • laptop, not only is the song amazing, so is the performer. I feel lucky to have grown up in a time with artists like this before the advent of Perfect Pitch and some of the other electronic wizardry that's being used.

  • THIS MUSIC IS WAY BETTER THAN TODAY'S MUSIC. BRING BACK THE 70'S AND 80'S

  • @ajhrockerboy6 And the 60s

  • @ajhrockerboy6 Totally agreed!

  • @ajhrockerboy6 It's pretty ignorant to say ALL modern music is bad, sure a large amount of it is, but certainly not all

  • @GhetoGeek i never said all modern music is bad. in general modern music sucks however i do like some bands and modern pop singers, etc.

  • @GhetoGeek i listen to everything but rap or hip hop, techno. but honestly if bob seger was the only singer in the world i could live in it

  • Comment removed

  • @ajhrockerboy6 Check out "The Sheepdogs"

They have a wicked story behind them, too :) And they're like, all under 30.

  • @ssandarr they are pretty sweet, though i judged at first since they are Canadian xD

  • Bob Segar is the Midwest!

And I mean that as compliment.

  • AccuRadio has a great commercial free mix of 60's stuff, it's like listening to the radio back then without the Creamettes commercials every 5 minutes.

  • Not bad but he aint no Bruce. Good effort though.

  • @EWFHardcoreKevin

I'm from Jersey & a huge fan of Boss, but I have to say I grew up listening to more Bob's songs. Bob's music is truely americana.... Thx Bob & you ROCK!!!

  • @flacosinthehouse MICHIGAN...thats where its at man..great lakes, many great talents, and the birth of the electric guitar..i see Bob every year on that Yacht race from Chicago to the Mackinaw bridge..he never wins, and dont care to win...its all about the sail to him..me i just hang at the marinas and watch em come in..i met him by building a house next to one of his,and its a cabin with no electricity but a perfect spread he has..he is the coolest guy man...

  • Comment removed

  • @EWFHardcoreKevin of course he's not bruce. he's bob seger. there's a springsteen and a seger. type springsteen into the search bar and stop shitting on songs because they're not other songs.

  • "I can still win"

  • This is a perfect song. Great story about growing up that almost everyone can relate to in some way. I love the way the organ keeps building and building towards the end

  • 139 did not feel the wind.

  • That's what my life is about,

  • I used to run against the wind, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @TheVengefulCo

Lol. Didn't know that 'Rim joke would reach a Bob Seger video. Just laughed my ass off.

  • @TheVengefulCo Likewise, but it's still good to listen to music about running against the wind and having the time, It never lasts, but it's still good to have done the time.

  • Ein tolles Lied!!!

  • stunning

  • This song always make me feel sad, and i think about the past.

  • i'm still running,against the wind :-{)

  • surrounded by strangers i thought were my friends ......

  • seems like yesterday but it was long ago

  • This song still reminds me about my life the last 7 years :(

  • This song was the story of my father's life. I miss him still. I shake and cry when I hear it. No truer will ever existed. My palms bleed from digging my nails into them. I love you dad.

  • didn't understand the lyrics? Wake up Maggie, get the pun?

  • vvv i wish i was you

  • I saw Mister Seger in the winter of 1972 in a high school auditorium in Fairfax, VA. maybe 300 attending. The band played for hours!!!! Gr8 night!

  • Takes me back to days of old when guitar strings sang along with voices beckoning to ears seeking freedom !

  • fg

  • Loved this song as a kid. Before I really understood the lyrics. One of Seger's best songs, and if this song doesn't cause you to genuflect, you really need to listen again.

  • I was on the school bus. This song came on. It was raining, kinda darkish. It got kind quiet. Heard a kid say: "This is good song", softly. Felt good.

  • @caveman123ization "The things that trigger a lost memory"

  • @caveman123ization That's what life is about, hang on to those moments.

  • " There in the darkness....

... with the radio playing low .. "

  • This is my self-pity song.

    Boo-hoo-hoo...sucks to be me.

Oh well. Hopefully there's no afterlife, and I can just fucking rest once I'm dead.

Don't get me wrong...I can relate to this song.

Just grew out of my wah-wah younger self, I guess.

A lot of us are running against the wind, and likely will till the day we shuffle off our mortal coil. But that's okay, I think.

    Don't know...have to see.

    Anyway...thanks for the post!

  • @justicefmprice Einstein said energy can neither be created or destroyed, and life is energy. Yes, we will see what we are once we are finished here. I find that comforting and empowering that no one can ever however you wish to put it, it is still never.

  • @justicefmprice This song was played at my friend Randy's funeral, it was if it was written for him, his life: a perfect family, (or so he thought) loving wife and son, great job, worked hard but worth the money, everything was just fantastic, he was 31, been married since he was 18. One day at work, he thought he pulled a muscle in his shoulder, went to hospital, found out he had a big cancer sitting on top of his heart. Went home crushed from the news, try to call his wife...

  • @62Animamia But phone was out, found the unpaid bill for over $500, all call made to same # to a town couple of hours away. It was the # of a 55 years old, his wife's lover. She left him and the son behind with nothing more than a death sentence, a broken marriage, and debts he didn't know they had, which sent to beautiful home to foreclosure........

  • @62Animamia It took two agonizing years before his body shut down from the pain, and his heart stopped. Was 275 lbs. down to 68 lbs. at time of death. The son stay with the grandparents. The still wife had the guts to come to the funeral with her lover, and request for this song to be played because it reflected Randy's life.

I don't know what else to say man, but when I read your comment, I thought of Randy, and the fact that perhaps you should look at your life in a different way!

  • J'ai appris à jour cet air en 1985 sur ma guitare de ces années et je la rejouerais des milliers de fois bravo à cet auteur compositeur il me donne beaucoup d'inspiration. Ritchie Brother

  • I LOVE BOB, I pray I get to see him someday. He's on my bucket list. I would have never made thru my growing up years without him.
