I'm a little confused as to where the audience is. I mean, if you had an audience on both sides, you did a pretty good job of turning in both directions. However, if only one side of the stage was the front with audience, you were horribly profile for basically the entire performance.

i adore this gertrude. some people are saying she's a little too bland, and that she's "yelling". personally i think her portrayal of gertrude is more, idk, appropriate, than the more "over-the-top" ones i've seen, because isn't that the point, that gertrude isn't like maizie and the bird girls? i find her awkwardly adorable! and i love her voice, she can really hit those notes. that shit is hard to do. seussical doesn't have to be over-the-top in every aspect to be good, i think.

Also, no one can ever get the rhyme right: "again" is supposed to rhyme with "vein", so you have to sing "a-gain", with a long a instead of the usual colloquial short a! I have YET to see someone get that right!

I'm auditioning for seussical at the end ofay and I have all my fingers and toes crossed for Gertrude!! This is one of my favorite portrayals of this song on YouTube, but I think she's a bit too angry at the "and maybe now you'll know I care" part... I would do that as just desprate I think. Great job though!!

I do agree though, many people in musical theatre lack the acting skills and she shows she has some.

This girl is pleading for Horton to finally notice her ('Notice me, Horton...'lol), and he does. I'm not trying to compare my Gertrude and yours, I'm just saying that it's done differently, and it's amazing!

2. horrible props, I understand that with the type of theater you have, it is hard to have big props, but the supposed tree was PATHETIC!

Actually it does state in the script that the simpler the show the more the audience will concieve the message. The Broadway production actually was not elaborate at all. It was actors in street clothes on an empty stage.

saying that you aren't from broadway, you would've known that the seussical costumes ARE very simple. its supposed to be a human personification (like the original broadway show was) to where horton really doesn't look like an elephant, gertrude doesn't look like a bird, or anything like that, so your wrong, the costumes are good.

Also let me just say that, with Seussical, the more you try to razzle-dazzle 'em with over-the-top lighting, costumes, scenery, and props, the more the message gets lost.

I have always imagined seussical costumes to be over the top... i have been involved in two seussical productions and in both gertrude had pink hair, the whos all had crazy hair, and such... this almost seems bland!!! singing is good though... and who am i to be critical.

The actress is amazing and hilarious. She adds her own view to the character. I have never seen it acted out this way! GREAT JOB! On the other hand, near the end on a few words it sounded if she was yelling a little. But she has a great voice when it is not forced and relaxed! :)
