  • Beautiful. But by 1927 his voice had matured and grown into somethng masterful and untouchable. check out the 1927 version of I Hear You Calling Me. Its one of the wonders of the world.

  • Astonishing reproduction; just too beautiful for words and reminds me of my gransmother sitting on our verandah listening to an old 78 of him singing this. No wonder she never tired of doing so.

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Almost all of McCormacks works have been re-mastered and are on cd's. When they first hit the stores back in the 80's, they sold out in less than a week.

  • If you like this listen to his 1910 recording. Just perfection.

  • I was brought up listening to songs like this - what a joy to be able to listen to all these beautiful postings. McCormack's diction is so perfect and his voice breaks your heart! It is a pity that this huge treasury of Victorian/Edwardian ballads has almost disappeared from modern memory but thanks to these videos, we can od on the most exquisite songs.

  • have many r.c.a. "red seal" 78's by john mc cormack, regrettably, his best one is not here-"mother macree' which he brought down the house with, I believe at symphony hall in N.Y. He outsold the great caruso that year,(possably 1907) and Caruso said it would never happen again, and it did not.

  • The high mezza-voce at 2:04 and 3:16 is beautiful. McCormack's technique was magnificent.

  • What a lovely effortless voice. They do not any better than this one. Why do voice trainers take away the natural sound of voices today. Fab.

  • yay John! Yet another version I had never heard of this song! Your voice lives on forever in my heart and mind! People could learn so much by listening to you sing!

  • una melodia muy dulce pero dramatica, un manejo de la voz ecepcional, una potencia muy medida, unos pianisimos bien logrados....excelente version

  • Amazing how well these old recordings sound - this one, after all, was made 100 years ago! It's fascinating to be able to go to another channel here at YouTube and compare this version with a later (1928) recording of this same song by John McCormack, still then calling to us, sweetly and clearly, across all those "years between".
