@MonsterMash51 - pure fucking man rage, indeed! just watch the conductor! lol
this is certainly the best performance of this piece i've ever heard. i'm not a wind player, but even i could appreciate the sheer beauty of the horn feature at the end. absolutely amazing, bravo!
Absolutely, without a doubt, the highest quality performance I have found to date. Its the most emotional performance and the ending of this recording has given me chills to the spine. The horn feature near the end had me tingling. Building trills at the end added more. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC performance. I truly enjoyed it and wish I could've been there for this wonderful exibit of wonderful talent.
Wow, this is fast, but they certainly keep it together, and the conductor shapes it nicely -- BRAVO! This piece clearly benefits from youthful passion, and it demonstrates how Late Romantic composers like Saint-Saens, Mahler and R. Strauss really invented "film music," an appropriate accompaniment to visual splendor. (Odd footnote to music history: Saint-Saens was the first important classical composer to write music specifically for a film, a different piece than this, though. Look it up.)
Too fast my fucking ass guys. This song is about Samson and Delila. How she seduces him, cuts his hairs and how he is weeak. Then his hair grows back and pure fucking man rage ensues. Tell me this doesn't illistrate pure fucking carnage. Tell me!
When I see a sea of handsome brunette orchestral players I know I am in for treat--beacuse they are one of the fabulous orchestras from venezuela who are sweeping the world with their magic. The Baccanal is, of course, tailor made for this orchestra's power and fire. Please get rid of the 'juvenile' in their orchestra title---they are as good as any pro orchstra in the land!!! P.s. question for percussionists--what is that interesting cross timpnai rhythem mid way through--I've never seen it.
I want to know what the french horns were doing at the final section of the piece. Does that make their sound more dramatic or prominent? If so, I'm definitely going to use it with one of my groups someday. That was an INCREDIBLE ending.
Beautiful contrast between the super fast tempo and the slow romantic section. Very nicely executed. This is a HARD piece to play. I had to do it in a concert band. The string parts are next to impossible to play on wind instruments.
I am no expert musical critic, but I know a great sound when I hear it. This is a fantastic orchestra that obviously has a great director. No soy ningún experto, pero puedo reconocer un gran sonido al oírlo. Es una orquesta fantástica que obviamente tiene un gran director. (Desde New Jersey, USA)
Truly fabulous playing that only the young can provide because they don't treat the music as an exercise in musical conformity. Vive les musicians de Venezuela because this is the best performance I have heard of this much performed piece.
Me da la impesion de que al final le agregó el director dos tonos mas para reforzar lo espectacular. Me agradó eso. Hasta ahora es el final que mas me ha impresionado de las diferentes versiones que he escuchado. Me gustó mucho!! Bravo por este joven director.
how old are all these musicians?
Aeluxia 2 days ago
@Aeluxia Under 18 years or so. Why? The LA Times, Mark Swede, wrote some good articles about how the LA Phil went to Venezuela, and what they found.

Trust me, we were probably not rushing. They are just taking it insanely fast. Not to say it wasn't amazing, just a little fast for my taste.

Excellente!!!! Nunca habia escuchado esta pieza y me ha gustado, sobretodo por el final...
pero confieso que la pieza que mas me gusta de Saint Saens es la "Danza Macabra".
