It is going to have to start with the teachers becoming vocal. The disheartening part is that politicians ultimately have the power to change it and I'm not convinced that they will regardless of how vocal we become.
I agree that our school system needs to be updated. It seems like everyone has a solution but nothing ever gets done to fix the problem. In my own experience, in high school, I went from class to class and each teacher would lecture. The learning was not interactive and was aimed at a test. If students can reason their way through information, they will retain it and identify with it much more. Should we leave it up to politicians to change, or should we as future teachers vocalize our opinions?
