The selectman should learn to apologize and then just shut his mouth. He is a public servant and should remember his duty toward the town firstly and minimize his explanation of why he failed in his commitment. Take it on the chin - stop trying to pass the blame - move on with your life.
I agree with Gallagher, he is actually right with this, The Veteran's Agent was wrong in continuing with this, Dan Sapir was actually correct in saying it should have stopped...
Gallagher is one of the selectmen who comes every week to sign these forms. Even a selectman deserves to go on vacation, and assume that someone else will make the effort he gives each week.
Mr. G. Selectmen are elected and unless you forgo the salary you receive more than all the others because you are chairman and thus responsible party for seeing that the selctmen act in a proper legal manner. It is this type of actions that caused the UNION to put into their contracts that they don't need your signature.
If they show up every week to take care of this why did they fail to take into consideration that they would be on vacation.
This POL works for US and is accountable to the community and is not impervious to criticism for failing at his job.
