  • the internals of these engines were like works of art, the conrods, big ends and crankshaft were machined and polished steel none of your rough castings painted red on these babies.

I remember there was a problem with a wrong type of cylnder head valve being fitted which could break and allow the valve to drop, smash the piston and other two cylinders on the same exhaust manifold and also take out the turbo. Very expensive

  • Just listen to that rolling idle, pure music, well done , we need to keep more of these throbbing beasts alive, cos if the green brigade had their way we'd lose them forever..brilliant news

  • 0:20 Fucking piss

  • I remember seeing one of these in Doncaster works around 1963, newly delivered and ready to enter service. Because I began my spotting in 1958 and loved steam I was never a fan of diesels and deplored the deltics, but I have to admit that the Brush diesels (this was before they became 47s if I recall correctly) looked rather handsome in their original British Railways livery.

  • proper train.

  • 0:46 to 1:00 I danced in my seat. XD That sounded like some sort of music to me! :D

  • Another shed roof skylight bites the dust.

  • I will never and never want to forget the joy of being stood next to a class 47 and hearing that sulzer engine throbbing away, its bliss!

  • Now that's an epic engine start.

  • It's alive!

  • Thank you for the video, and nice job.

  • Every 47 is a treasure,, want as many as possible resurectedt,,

  • I love the smell of diesel fumes in the morning.........

  • Looks cool when the smoke changes the color from white to black ;)

  • Nothing in our world compares to the music of a Sulzer.

  • Pure class. Bet a Shed won't last this long.

  • class 47 are the most relible engins to start first time every time

she's purring like a tiget guys good job

  • Bloody hell it should have been used in Steven Spielburg`s first film Dual instead of the truck..Great stuff, will be good to see in old livery!

  • love the sound..... it's way better than the noise of the emu/dmu trash we are left with.....please bring back the loco hauled train

  • mickeylove01..wat do u want a medal or trophy???

  • Listen to those injectors squeak, loving it !!!

  • Glad to see another one resurrected...keep up the good work, from a Yank doing the same thing to Alco's.

  • @choirboyfromhell1 To Alco's what?

  • @ajuk1 Check out Alco RS-3 and FPA-4 Diesel Locomotive Start Up (You Tube won't let me post hyperlinks)

  • I've walked through the middle of one when ticking over..

  • As 31144 says it was abit rough to start with, did sound like 1 fuel pump was stuck fully open, hence the clagg and odd note, but soon settled down. Also the bloody fire alarm, shove a rag in the bell to shut it up for a while......

  • @antphilp Check the FCB first would probs be better!!!

  • Who owns 47772?

  • West Coast Railway Company

  • 47s are the most handsome diesels built BR

  • claggs quite a bit lol

  • Brilliant! So rare to hear injector squawk on a sulzer, always amazes me how quick they settle down from cold compared to EE lumps !!

  • EE lumps sound better when thrashing

  • Very true, but I would love to hear a sulzer 12 without a silencer straight from the turbo ports like EE's ! Come to think of it, a class 60 8 pot Mirrlees would sound awesome without its giant roof can !!

  • lol its like a massive storm cloud in there

  • Think its got something to do with the compression ration of Sulzers Dieselmanmike, she seemed to struggle a bit once she got running, very un-Sulzer like I have to say

  • Bloody brilliant news to see another 47 on its way back. Love the bit at 2 mins, the bloke at the back with the 'YES' arm raising. Keep up the good work and lets have some more video updates.

  • @ivsolutions I remember going for a short trip in the cab in one of these 47s at Birmingham New street in 1978

  • @ivsolutions Those fucking blokes.
