Atlas Shrugged was a Utopian world of capitalism. Utopias don't exist, and never will.

Our current dilemma or modern world is not even comparable to the book. The book dealt with privately owned companies, but we live in a world of corporations. They operate vastly different. Furthermore, we live in a global economy, and Ayn Rand doesn't take into account the cheap labor over seas that is heavily exploited by our corporate capitalistic system.

Santa Claus.... sigh... Cheap labor is due to a surplus. Get back to capitalism's F'n basics: Supply and Demand. Cheap labor is NOT relative. Their is a surplus of labor in China which drives the price of labor down.

It is not as simple as moving to a better paying job when labor is in surplus. If that were the case, we'd all have great paying jobs. If that's how you think it works then you're ignorant.

yes, rand should have stuck to philosophy. she shouldn't have created idealized aryan superhumans. i think her greatest error was to use idealized nazi hero-types to represent her rational philosophy. having a few gays and lesbians, some jew and blacks, some decent foreigners, and a couple of disabled and mentally ill characters being heroic would have given her work some lasting value. as it is, it is an unfortunate tribute to eugenics. the rest is fabulous and i'm not kidding.

Actually, Rand knew a great deal about Myers-Briggs personality types. All of her "heroic" characters are based on very strong NT rationales, they are unchanging, and therefore fairly realistic. I've met people like this, and I am one of them.
