Commercial Drive is in the east side but the Downtown east side is more like Main and Hastings st , ( I've see vpd smoke crack at the Balmoral hotel in the back room in the bar I'll never forget it )

Have you ever been down there or talked to the people there?The individuals that live there are dealing with a lot of issues-poverty, mental illness, addiction, and a lot of stigma as well. Yeah...this isn't really downtown, let alone the DTES. It's Commercial Drive, which is actually quite a popular and very culturally diverse place to live. While there have been a few junkies migrating to the Commercial drive area over the past 5 years, it really isn't a nasty place to live at all.
