You probably should have mentioned that in her scene with the armwrestling match, the Silver Sentry lost on purpose because she baked him cookies. A better clip to show her badassery probably would have been the one where she shut up Casey's skepticism by turning out the lights and beating him to the ground.
Also, I think she's equally hot. Classic April has bigger boobs, but they almost look frighteningly unreal. Also, new April had her Jungle outfit.
I like how when you call a DRAW and you have the sad eyes on all the turtles, all except 2k3 Raph. Angry eyes. hehe. Love 2003 Raph! Less talk, more action!!
Old splinter had a better backstory IMO, at least the begining where he was human first... if his 2003 story came in with the rat finding turtles then it works. It made more sense. I mean the 2003 basically said he was a super intelligent rat.
@herono86 the point was that he was hoping the classic april to be a much more activte person as oppose to always being a sterotypical damisel in destress and sex icon
The new April's look makes more sense too. I mean why exactly did the old April wear a yellow jumpsuit, what was the point? You could say fan service but isn't TMNT a kid's show?
@FawkesPaw there is an episode in the 2003 series where april descises herself as a news reporter and she weres a yellow jump suit. Sorry I can't remember which episode it was...
I resepct the idea of Splinter being Yoshi because it makes more sense, but newer Splinter seems to be more fatherly, which I like even more. But I like both
The new April is hotter then the old one IMO she is aslo cool funny and smart unlike the old bimbo, I mean sure she helps the turtles out but other then that she is kind of useless.
I like Splinter's 2k3/comic/movie back story more than the classic cartoon's. For some reason I just hate the idea of Splinter originally being a human, and I feel like the 2003 cartoon gives Splinter's character a much more interesting dynamic as being both a father and a teacher to the turtles.
Maybe I go too much to 2003 serie's side, but I like 2003 Splinter and April more.
Reasons: it's sounds more natural that 'cause Turtles are mutated turtles (duh!), Splinter is mutated rat. And it's lovely when he act cool, but you still can tell he loves Turtles.
New April I like more 'cause she's a badass too and smarter and not so helpless than 87's April. And I actually like her new look, especially her clothes.

My other comment, forget it. I was sleepy. The new April is what we all want in a woman, independent, strong and smart. Thumbs up for the new April. ( I still like the classic one better)
The 1987 April was hot and was one of the major reasons that we watched the 1987 Turtles. The 2003 April was kick ass, but wasn't really hot until after the Fast Forward saga and into the Back to the Sewers series. I would pick April Oneil from the 1987 series, because she may have been the damsel in distress a lot burt she did do four things: She was hot, She made the yellow jumpsuit more sexy, She gave the turtles more credit and fame by being a reporter and she helped bring in more ratings.
@FluffMaster101 Really, with catch phrases such as "What a (insert adjective) story!", "I owe you one" (used also in a video game, "HEELLLLLPPPPP!!", and her signature "This is April O 'Neil, for Channel 6 News", that is another thing that is memorable. Even classic Splinter has a signature phrase: "Thank you my Turtles". When people dress up as April today, they'll most likely base off of the Fred Wolf/Archie version. Splinter is more debatable. But I felt that the new April was too Arielish.
@pannoni1 Believe it or not, in the second issue of the comics, April is introduced on a TV screen reporting to Baxter. She isn't really a reporter there, but I see how Fred Wolf came up with the idea. Also, issue 7, a little before the original cartoon started, mentions a "news center 6 eyewitness news", basically the origin of the "Channel 6" concept. Those two ideas seemed to meld together to create April the channel 6 reporter and can't be bashed upon as there was SOME tie to the comics.
The only problem I have with the 2K3 Splinter is that sometimes he's badass and can fight all 4 turtles but other times can't fight at all being helpless...Were the original is more consistant
well I think the April in the classic series had brains and was really sexy but I really don't think she put her self trouble on purpis it's just a bunch of bad guys wanted to kill the turtles not just the Sherder and so they would hurt one of friends of the turtles to do it and always tried to help the turtles anyway she could and I think new one sucks cause she is not nice at all and she didn't seem like she cared alot the way the classic April even though she was not very smart
To be honest, I remember an episode in which Splinter Hypnotizes Shredder so that he obtains Michelangelo's personality when he hears that name and reverts back to his normal mental state when someone says Shredder, which seems weird as I think he fixed that in the end. This was the same episode in which he hypnotizes Michelangelo to eat pizza no more.
@heroshadow42 I always wonder how Splinter learned about hypnosis. Also, I found it funny that twice Splinter hypnotized Michelangelo, but, was reluctant to hypnotize Leonardo in the Snake Attacks episode. His reasoning was that if the hypnotic effects wore off, Leonardo would be in grave danger, which, I think was false. I think that the real reason Splinter refused to hypnotize Leonardo was because Leonardo cannot be hypnotized.
Would have been better if new and old April were mixed. April in the new series is just another Kill Bill wanna be characters that plagues movies and comic books now as the old April was subject to character stereotyping in the 80's. And neither April resembles anything about the comic book April other than being a scientist. They are both bad but the new April is more far off than the comic book April was unless you are going by the Archie comics.
Here's a plothole nobody brought up with the classic Splinter. If the mutagen has gene splicing abilities, forcing a person to turn into any animal they had recent physical contact with, I can buy the turtles becoming humanoids, but shouldn't Yoshi have turned into a turtle himself? He had to touch the turtles in order to get the mutagen on him.
Don't understand why most fan would like classic, she alway a damsel in distress, want to get a good story. The April in 2k3 was more useful, she was suppose to be a sister figure to turtles on the original comic.
I often thought that classic cartoon April was like the Daphne Blake (from Scooby Doo) of that show. Like Daphne, she was always getting her ass in deep shit. I even said that when I wrote my blog that was a tribute to TMNT in honor of their 25th anniversary.
Ha he made a dick move, but u just sound like a fanboy dick fullstop. The guy is only expressing an opinion. And he has a point.
The old April is just a bimbo, the new april is closer to the comic counter part and more respectable.
Which makes me think why do sum people perfer the old april, Nostaglia or is it just them being fantasy nerd boys, just like to see her get into trouble.
I'm all up for people having different opinions, but not if it's just baisty with no real valid defense.
I notice many 87 cartoon fanboys r just elitist fucks. With no real valid opinions of y hate the new show. It's just out of baisty. Like a old man refusing to use a cell phone. They hate it coz they think their show was first, when u tell them of the comics and how the new show it more true to it, they pretend not to here u, abit like a retarded child. Who didn't get the toy they wanted for xmas.
Now I too like many grew up in 80s and watched both and enjoyed both and the original comics.
I noticed though 87 fanboys r more of elitist dicks than 2003 show fanboys.
This obviously doens't apply to all, I'm a fan of 87 and 2k3 show. I know people who like 87 but not 2k3 but respect if enough, to acknowledge people have different opinions.
And obviously 2k3 fans can be baise too twats. But I notice most of the fanboy hating comes from the 87s side.
@TheBboyplayer08 I prefer old April bcuz she reminds me of more on the lines of Loise lane, Just about everyone can fight in the new generation? Can't they b original in there on way with their own special strengths? Even if it was a bit stereotypical type back then?
That gets on my nerves too. The whole "its funny to insult and ridicule" men is getting old, i've pretty much given up TV due to it, not to mention the 100lb stick thin woman with no muscle beating up a guy who could snap her like a twig *coughMillaJovovichcough*
I dig the 2003 Splinter and April. In turtles forever Splinter has the same look from the 2007 movie and April wears a yellow tracksuit like the one Bruce Lee wears in Game of Death.
April was a lame character in both shows. Just a character to build a few plot points and really more of annoyance. If the new show kills her off they get my vote.
Old Aprils more likely to get the turtles killed, and she cares more for her job , new april kills old one . But the were nice and she was hotter , but you can't just have looks .
I like both Casey and April in the 2k3 one they where not over played as much but got a little action. While the old April had beauty the new one had Brains and brawn being trained by splinter. I liked the friendship April and Donny had in the new one since they had the most in common.
OMG thank you. and her personality is bland there is nothing that stands out about her other then her deeds. she's a generic feminist character. and its crazy because I'm a woman and you would think I would like that, but only when its needed. the new April could use a personality upgrade.
here is a question. why do they keep making her a redhead since she was never a redhead in the original comics? and even though 2003 April is more developed. I don't know why but I hate her. I hate her design and I hate her dull personality. I like how selfish the classic April was...a true New Yorker lol
Agreed on both here. Splinter is a hard choice since he does play the same type of role and is great in both series. April I couldn't agree more. I was not a fan of the original April, being a female I did not like that the main female in the show as a joke and could not stand up for herself. You'd think with getting in trouble so much she'd try to learn to defend herself. I felt like the only TMNT fan who did not like her back than.
I'm starting to hate your voice, more when you are ranting about the classic cartoon fanboys, it gets really high and.... nerdy.
I'm not as big a fan so maybe there is alot of them in the fandom and they might be really vocal and stupid in thier views of the different series, but do you need to let the hate flow for them that much?
Apart from that, it's a pretty decent personal comparison series.
I wish you'd showed the 2K3 TMNT scenes with April dressing as classic April. I'm a die hard TMNT fan and love both shows in different ways, and you seem to feel the same way.
April O'Neil, from the old show was hot, and I loved the yellow jumpsuit, but she was mostly a plot device, for the TMNT to get into action. In fact, whenever I see an old episode nowadays, I shout "plot device" the moment April O'neil sets up the TMNT to run into action and move the plot. The new April was a better developed character and just as hot.
Hey man! Great videos!! Just as a note it would be nice that would have added that the new 2003 April did disguise herself as the old April in sort of a joke reference in order to help the turtles, in the Episode "Secret Origins III" for the TMNT 2003 3rd Season.
Think about this;in the comic and 80's series they said shredder's a human and was in the same ninja clan as yoshi while in the 2k3 series Shredder's a utrom so they tip the scale on the tmnt series but adding a irma like character like irwin would balance would balance the scale and that my point.
i see your point there. but MY point is that there wasnt an Irma in the original comics, so why should she be in 2k3 and not say, bebop or rocksteady?
they did make a bebop and rocksteady character.if you remember tmnt 2003 episode 'Samurai Tourist' we see Gen wearing a outfit that make him look like rocksteady while a assassin who try to kill leo look kinds like bebop so they did make a bebop and rocksteady character in the 2k3 series.
except he wasnt anything like rocksteady, except for the fact that he was a talking rhino. you keep sidestepping my question. there wasnt an Irma in the original comics, so why should she be in 2k3?
you know who the creaters forgot to put in the 2003 series,a Irma or Irma like character and i thought of the new character myself.
is name's Irwin Langinstein and like Irma he talks in a nasal voice and can't found a date.He works in April antique shop and wear Big glasses similar to Irma but are black.
Think about it;in the 1987 version they was Irma who was friend's with April and works at channel 6 news while my madeup character Irwin works in April's Antique, and like Irma has a nasal voice and can't found a date and is friends with the turltes, that my point.
In the 2003 version the turtles aren't eating strange pizza,April is not a damsel in destress,The shredder is not a tough but wacky character and Casey Jones is not a psycho so they could make a Irma or Irma like character to keep tradition of the TMNT series and that the real point.
you have to realize that the two shows are completely different. and if you have to talk about tradition, its the old show that screwed tradition. the old comics never had strange pizza, wacky shredder or an idiot Irma. therefore the 2k3 series didnt, because it was based on the comics. Besides, its not like the '87 fanboys arent thrown a bone or two.
It may be cool, but it's also rather over the top and seemed to come out of nowhere... I also forgot to mention that I perfer the origin story of the classic Splinter opposed to the newer one. Just saying
I've agreed with everything up to this point. I think what they did to April this time around seemed forced and unnatural. She didn't seem like she was a legit character and more like some writer's soap box for feminist ideals. (I'm not being pro or anti fem, I'm just saying.) I guess "contrived" is the word I'm looking for.
in the 2003 one they do a sorta cameo where she disguises herself as a reporter to distract the military that was attacking the utrom building, but my memory a bit fuzzy on that one
80's splinter was only a teacher but the 00's was a father.
80's april was sexier and more beautiful than the 00's one but she was'nt as smart as her she can't even protect her self

Even classic Splinter has a signature phrase: "Thank you my Turtles". When people dress up as April today, they'll most likely base off of the Fred Wolf/Archie version. Splinter is more debatable. But I felt that the new April was too Arielish.
pannoni1 6 months ago
@pannoni1 Believe it or not, in the second issue of the comics, April is introduced on a TV screen reporting to Baxter. She isn't really a reporter there, but I see how Fred Wolf came up with the idea. Also, issue 7, a little before the original cartoon started, mentions a "news center 6 eyewitness news", basically the origin of the "Channel 6" concept. Those two ideas seemed to meld together to create April the channel 6 reporter and can't be bashed upon as there was SOME tie to the comics.

The classic April is hot XD but I guess the new one has a better personality . and thats whats important...right?

well I think the April in the classic series had brains and was really sexy but I really don't think she put her self trouble on purpis it's just a bunch of bad guys wanted to kill the turtles not just the Sherder and so they would hurt one of friends of the turtles to do it and always tried to help the turtles anyway she could and I think new one sucks cause she is not nice at all and she didn't seem like she cared alot the way the classic April even though she was not very smart

To be honest, I remember an episode in which Splinter Hypnotizes Shredder so that he obtains Michelangelo's personality when he hears that name and reverts back to his normal mental state when someone says Shredder, which seems weird as I think he fixed that in the end. This was the same episode in which he hypnotizes Michelangelo to eat pizza no more.
heroshadow42 1 year ago
@heroshadow42 I always wonder how Splinter learned about hypnosis. Also, I found it funny that twice Splinter hypnotized Michelangelo, but, was reluctant to hypnotize Leonardo in the Snake Attacks episode. His reasoning was that if the hypnotic effects wore off, Leonardo would be in grave danger, which, I think was false. I think that the real reason Splinter refused to hypnotize Leonardo was because Leonardo cannot be hypnotized.

Yeah.. the original April does look like Ariel, but, alot angrier though.
skanthavelu 1 year ago

I often thought that classic cartoon April was like the Daphne Blake (from Scooby Doo) of that show. Like Daphne, she was always getting her ass in deep shit. I even said that when I wrote my blog that was a tribute to TMNT in honor of their 25th anniversary.
I like April as a character either way.

SolidMike 2 years ago
Ha he made a dick move, but u just sound like a fanboy dick fullstop. The guy is only expressing an opinion. And he has a point.
The old April is just a bimbo, the new april is closer to the comic counter part and more respectable.
Which makes me think why do sum people perfer the old april, Nostaglia or is it just them being fantasy nerd boys, just like to see her get into trouble.
I'm all up for people having different opinions, but not if it's just baisty with no real valid defense.
TheBboyplayer08 2 years ago 37
Fanboys are just cunts.
Sexyguy3000 2 years ago 2
Now I too like many grew up in 80s and watched both and enjoyed both and the original comics.
I noticed though 87 fanboys r more of elitist dicks than 2003 show fanboys.
This obviously doens't apply to all, I'm a fan of 87 and 2k3 show. I know people who like 87 but not 2k3 but respect if enough, to acknowledge people have different opinions.
And obviously 2k3 fans can be baise too twats. But I notice most of the fanboy hating comes from the 87s side.
Peace!
Sexyguy3000 2 years ago 2
@TheBboyplayer08 I prefer old April bcuz she reminds me of more on the lines of Loise lane, Just about everyone can fight in the new generation? Can't they b original in there on way with their own special strengths? Even if it was a bit stereotypical type back then?

I dig the 2003 Splinter and April. In turtles forever Splinter has the same look from the 2007 movie and April wears a yellow tracksuit like the one Bruce Lee wears in Game of Death.
BASTARDUS1MAXIMUS 2 years ago
April was a lame character in both shows. Just a character to build a few plot points and really more of annoyance. If the new show kills her off they get my vote.
UltMitSinner78 2 years ago
Old Aprils more likely to get the turtles killed, and she cares more for her job , new april kills old one . But the were nice and she was hotter , but you can't just have looks .

I like both Casey and April in the 2k3 one they where not over played as much but got a little action. While the old April had beauty the new one had Brains and brawn being trained by splinter. I liked the friendship April and Donny had in the new one since they had the most in common.
jp3711nc1 2 years ago 2
OMG thank you. and her personality is bland there is nothing that stands out about her other then her deeds. she's a generic feminist character. and its crazy because I'm a woman and you would think I would like that, but only when its needed. the new April could use a personality upgrade.

that was meant to be a thumbs up.

LeelaDebris 2 years ago
here is a question. why do they keep making her a redhead since she was never a redhead in the original comics? and even though 2003 April is more developed. I don't know why but I hate her. I hate her design and I hate her dull personality. I like how selfish the classic April was...a true New Yorker lol
LeelaDebris 2 years ago 2

The editing of the videos is good.
VideoDarius 2 years ago
I wish you'd showed the 2K3 TMNT scenes with April dressing as classic April. I'm a die hard TMNT fan and love both shows in different ways, and you seem to feel the same way.
DKrules9 2 years ago
April O'Neil, from the old show was hot, and I loved the yellow jumpsuit, but she was mostly a plot device, for the TMNT to get into action. In fact, whenever I see an old episode nowadays, I shout "plot device" the moment April O'neil sets up the TMNT to run into action and move the plot. The new April was a better developed character and just as hot.
DKrules9 2 years ago
Truth be told, April from the first show is much less sexy then the new one. And I just love the new splinter. He's amazing! ;]

Think about this;in the comic and 80's series they said shredder's a human and was in the same ninja clan as yoshi while in the 2k3 series Shredder's a utrom so they tip the scale on the tmnt series but adding a irma like character like irwin would balance would balance the scale and that my point.
89Animeknight 2 years ago
i see your point there. but MY point is that there wasnt an Irma in the original comics, so why should she be in 2k3 and not say, bebop or rocksteady?
Purge430 2 years ago
they did make a bebop and rocksteady character.if you remember tmnt 2003 episode 'Samurai Tourist' we see Gen wearing a outfit that make him look like rocksteady while a assassin who try to kill leo look kinds like bebop so they did make a bebop and rocksteady character in the 2k3 series.
89Animeknight 2 years ago
except he wasnt anything like rocksteady, except for the fact that he was a talking rhino. you keep sidestepping my question. there wasnt an Irma in the original comics, so why should she be in 2k3?

you know who the creaters forgot to put in the 2003 series,a Irma or Irma like character and i thought of the new character myself.
is name's Irwin Langinstein and like Irma he talks in a nasal voice and can't found a date.He works in April antique shop and wear Big glasses similar to Irma but are black.
89Animeknight 2 years ago
whats the point?
Purge430 2 years ago
Think about it;in the 1987 version they was Irma who was friend's with April and works at channel 6 news while my madeup character Irwin works in April's Antique, and like Irma has a nasal voice and can't found a date and is friends with the turltes, that my point.
89Animeknight 2 years ago
no, i mean what is the point of having an Irma in the new series?
Purge430 2 years ago
So they can at least stay true to the show.
In the 2003 version the turtles aren't eating strange pizza,April is not a damsel in destress,The shredder is not a tough but wacky character and Casey Jones is not a psycho so they could make a Irma or Irma like character to keep tradition of the TMNT series and that the real point.
89Animeknight 2 years ago
you have to realize that the two shows are completely different. and if you have to talk about tradition, its the old show that screwed tradition. the old comics never had strange pizza, wacky shredder or an idiot Irma. therefore the 2k3 series didnt, because it was based on the comics. Besides, its not like the '87 fanboys arent thrown a bone or two.
Purge430 2 years ago
Why does the 2003 version need to stay true to the original show when the original show didn't stay true to the original comic?

I've agreed with everything up to this point. I think what they did to April this time around seemed forced and unnatural. She didn't seem like she was a legit character and more like some writer's soap box for feminist ideals. (I'm not being pro or anti fem, I'm just saying.) I guess "contrived" is the word I'm looking for.
