  • it would be best if you took a 9v witch is cheaper then you could use a voltage regulator to put the 9v to a 5v and a usb use a 5v

  • @buildsomen Yes, you can use a 7805 and a 9v battery to do this project. However, a 7805 is terribly inefficient when dropping the voltage from 9v-5v, additionally, a single 9v battery is only rated for around 450-600mah@9v. Once reduced to 5v usable ma is probably more like 300-400mah. An A123 cell is good for about 1500-1800mah@3v. In series that gives you 1500+mah@6v so in the end you wind up with substantially more usable "juice" for your device.

  • any way you could use a 9v battery with a 7805 Voltage regulator that will convert 9Volt battery into a 5volt output?

  • How about using a 9v battery?

  • Do you have any idea where I can get a circuit diagram for this project? This would be a great way to get some bonus points in this semester of physics.

  • But will it blend!!!!

  • can you make a video showing just the circuitry, because i cant see it clearly in this video

  • do u do commissions?

  • you think you could make a new video showing how to make one of these usb chargers you have????????

  • can you please send me the info about making one and the things i need to buy. i am interested in making one of them

  • Where can you find all the supplies needed

  • can u message what exacty i need to make one and where to get them please?

  • smithba76,send me the info for this setup. i am intrested, is there a diagram?

  • does anyone know if this will work for ipod touch?

  • @smithba76 could this void a warrenty or ruin a cell phone battery or hurt my phone in anyways shot or long term? cuz you said its a rapid charger.

  • or if you use the mintyboost kit to get more efficient voltage out of a smaller power supply, you can get 2/3 AA batteries from cheap solar path lights (that fit great in altoid small tins) or combine the kit wit the solar panel. I'm hoping I can post a video of this soon.

  • allelectronics website has rechargeable 123 cells that put out 3 volts. they're about 3.50 a piece but they are worth it to fit a small size that you can reuse

  • how many rizisters do u you use

  • I name you Kipkay II :D

  • how much would you sell it for?

  • when you take a usb port out of a hub, do you have to connect the infromation wires to the power source?

  • Lol. SW darth vader psp :3 nerds ftw

  • Hey I'm going on a long bus ride on Friday and I don't want my beloved iPod running out of battery. I created a portable iPod charger concept/design but my iPod touch won't accept it. Only my nano amd my friends classic. Can you tell me how to make this in more detail?

  • How do you make them

  • @smithba76 iJust finished making mines & it turned out great! iChanged the circuit a little& Im Using CR2 Batteries because I couldn't find the a123 batteries, Next im going to replace the batteries w/ rechargeable CR2s'

  • Can someone post a circuit diagram for making this? I'm a totally newb and he mentions that there are resisters and a capacitor in the circuit...

  • @smithba76 where can i find the a123 batteries ?

  • @skootb2 Radio shack, bass pro, cabellas and sometimes wal-mart.

  • @smithba76 * where can i get rechargeable one? & all those sites don't have a123 cells :P :"(

  • @skootb2 at walmart

  • @skootb2 Go on dealextreme. com, they have those batteries which are rechargeable, 2 or 3 dollars for 2 of them. free shipping, not to mention they sell most electronics a lot cheaper than you'll ever find in america

  • Please tell me how to make this i have an iphone ipod and psp that die all the time and i want somthing very small

  • man ur lucky 2 bbs

  • can you use 3v coin cells instead of the larger ones

  • @xUSSguamx they have the same voltage but not amperage

  • pretty...i liked.

  • So any updates on the how-to? I'd really like to build one of these.

  • Juat connect two batteries to a female usb. The voltage in total should not total over 6 volts

  • Cool could you share the Diagram. I would like to build one of these babies!!

  • i would like to make this :) could you tell me what you used?

  • Thank you all for your comments! I'm glad you all have enjoyed the build. I have been very busy with work lately so my Altoids projects have been shelved. Check back periodically as I hope to have tutorials up for all my builds soon! Thanks again and keep "Altoiding"!

  • Awesome!!!

Can i have the circuit diagrams???

    That would be nice.

  • wiring diagram please

  • Can u use it on a plane?

  • @njtpenguin41 I wouldnt bring it through airport security. When I did, the guy looked at me as if saying "what the hell is this? what are you trying to pull here". I had to explain in detail how it works to prove it wasnt a bomb or trigger of some sort.

  • @njtpenguin41 they might think its a bomb

  • wow. This is great. I'm gonna build it right now. However can i have the circuit diagram for this project? Any help would be nice.

  • Great video. I am going to build one myself but just wanted to ask if you have a wiring diagram of the connections to the usb port with the resistors. Any help would be great. Thanks

  • Button cell batterys might work and even leave enough space for extras!
