Hey scruffyben, that's a thumbpick . The reason is you get a stronger bass tone and you have all fingers (besides your thumb) left to play the other strings. Bye!

how should I start, can you give me some advice? I'm sure one needs to get all the fingers indipendent from each other... also the picking finger, and maybe there is an exercise for this ... still amazing : )
