It wasn't a video store, but I used to go into this independently run game store at a once thriving local mall and they had a great collection of video games. The guys there were really friendly and would play games with me and also talk about games. It makes me feel really nostalgic remembering that store because it closed down in late 2005 or early 2006. The mall it was in is now a ghost town that will inevitably be turned into a Sears.
My mom and pop store that I grew up with is still there. Premiere Video in Shelby NC. I bought out ALL of his Genesis games when he switched over to N64/PS1.
I Know what you mean about the Mom and Pop Video Stores....luckily mine is still in business, I usually go there for stuff I can't find at Family Video or Movie Gallery (such as the Mario Bros. Movie....never....again...).
this is really weird, my mom and pop video shop as the same EXACT Secret Video Game Video...on sale for like five bucks....I might buy it.....since it's really rare.
There used to be a couple of Mom and Pop video stores in my hometown till Blockbuster and Hollywood video came in. Now those are suffering thanks to Gamefly and Netflix.
Man, I LOVE the mom and pop video place around here. The gaming selection is nonexistant, sure, but the atmosphere is amazing. Not only do they have TONS of old VHS tapes around that you'd have to hunt for online usually, but they have great DVDs around, too. And, to top it off, they have a restaraunt that makes freaking epic hot cocoa. :B
My family owned a MegaVideo we had nes snes and genesis. but the systems people were using were n64, tb16, saturn. My dad would let me bring a game home but only for 1 night incase someone wanted to rent it. none of the games were ever rented. Anyway I really like your show!
I once used to rent videos from a mom and pop video store called Magic Video. It had a wizard casting a spell right on top of the name outside of the building. Rented all kinds of Looney Tunes tapes and other cartoons, but as the years rolled by, it went into Movie Gallery.
Ironically, that shut down too and turned into a pizzeria. 0.o
As most of the stores tend to do. I think the video store I frequented as a young adult was a place called "Snowballs Video". I think that turned into a hair salon. Not sure, haven't been in that neighborhood in years.
If only I could. My job has crazy hours that change weekly. I would love to actually make weekly shows, but I think they would have to be shot in advance, like over the summer or something, then aired in August. We'd all be kept extremely busy, like we're not already.
However, there will be times I'll air a specific special, so technically, you will get two episodes a month, just one will be a special. The other will be a regular episode.
I love it when I can create a segment that makes people think. It's what separates us from other shows, cause really, how many shows air editorials that make you think? They're usually rants about things that few people care about, so I'm glad I was able to talk about something that many of you can identify with.

It wasn't a video store but recently a local second-hand game shop, which is a real shame as it was brilliant.

Funny, I got it for 50 cents at a Flea Market in Maryland, along with that Rambo cartoon.

Good stuff as always! What was that remix that was played during the credits?
SPac316 2 years ago
Ambassadors of Funk- Go Mario Go (Radio Version), I believe. Try Googling "Galbadia Hotel", go to their site, you should be able to find it there.

I'm guessing that no one want to rant a games about E.T. for the Atari 2600.

Thank you! So when your dad's MegaVideo closed its doors (I'm assuming it did), did he get to take home some of the inventory?

Great work, as usual, my man. Your editorial on video stores was a great thought-provoker.
