patsgrl73 - I agree totally! The greatest music, all kinds! I feel (and felt) hard put to categorize my taste in music - I like just about everything but boring country and boring heavy metal (even those brands two have some good things to offer)!
While I too enjoy the nostalgic hits of yesteryear... I have a feeling that in 20 years today's youth will be saying the same thing about the bands they grew up with.
Im 15 and me and a load of my friends hate todays music. But nevertheless, most probably will, but unlike the 80's, there will be no come back of most of the 00's crap music.
@Ordsall66 Absa-boody-exactly!!! Well said. Teardrop explodes, The Beat, Joy Division, early Duran, early Spandau, early Smiths. CHRIST the music is shite that's about now. AND you live near me lol. Going off yer username obviously.
Top of the Pops Christmas 1980. Notice the bass guitarist doesn't appear to know what he's doing? That's because it's the Specials bass guitarist. He and the Beats bass guitarist swopped when both bands turned up on TOTP. Rock and Roll!! Both bands were great. The Specials were doing "Do Nothing". I'm off to check to see if "Do nothings" on Youtube.

Another example of why the late 70s/early 80's period of music hasnt been matched since.

no thats the same bass player.
maxwakeling 3 years ago
That IS the original bass player for the Beat! He and the lead guitarist went on to FYC when the Beat originally split.

wrong. Andy Cox and Dave Steele or on this vid - they were the regulars.
