That sucks, I had that happen to me many years ago. Running in first heading for the line, starboard stay snapped, leaving a large welt on my back. Came in 10th after some quick jury rigging.

Clean break by the board, took noone along....I can imagine and have seen worse sailors' nightmares, but that still sucks.
