Bad gunbarrel but I have to say, my favourite gunbarrel version of the theme in the Brosnan era, due to the fact it doesn't skip past the guitars and goes straight to the ending.
This is so fucking stupid! Aparrently Bond shoots inside the gunbarrel? WTF? It's ridiculous, completely far-fetched and looks like a very bad CGI. So it's just like the rest of the movie...
@tukke is there any part of the bond sequence that isn't far-fetched? random circles, looking down a barrel of a gun, blood some how dripping down the barrel of the gun and the gun is still held up right despite the guy was just shot, far as I am concerned adding the bullet just makes it more interesting
and the hair style here, it looks like the same style he wore on Goldeneye. In Goldeneye, he had fluffy hair. On DAD, his hair wasn't quite so fluffy, even before he was captured by the General. And after he fixed himself up at the hotel, his hair was trimmed down even shorter
it looks to me that they only shot the sequence once with Brosnan and applied it to the last 3 movies he did, and they just the gun barell affect and added the bullet. I've looked at all 4 sequences, focusing on how he walked, how the tail of his coat swings after he turns
all the other sequences wouldn't make sense either, because you don't look through the gun barrell to aim, you look through to scope or the dot on top of the thingy. How would blood be dripping down the barrel then?
@doctorfeelucky hes not looking down the barrel, its just the camera is set inside the barrel. Hes aiming with the gun which i assume is a pistol, blood would drip down because it hits the guys head, which starts bleeding, so it spills down over the gun barrel. Dont take it out on me, if it was me id just have the screen slowly fade black after the shot, makes alot more sense
@doctorfeelucky *EDIT* fading to black wouldnt make sense either, id just have the camera changing to a white gunbarrel, meaning the guy has dropped his gun onto the floor.
@anakinfan8 Actually, next year will be the 50th anniversary. Hard to imagine it's been that long, because I actually remember seeing this one in theaters.
A bit too techno, but I still like the music. The bullet leaves something to be desired, though. It's probably the second-worst of the Brosnan barrels, a nudge ahead of TWINE.
I HATE this gunbarrel, it's so tacky. It's the only one I overtly dislike. The music is nice, but I don't like how it gets that complicated electronic beatbox sound around 0:05, and I freaking hate the "bullet-time shell flyin' at ya!!!" moment.
@Ryoukun16 The way I whined? I just said I thought it was a shitty gunbarrel, I didn't whine. And come on, you gotta admit... it's really tacky and silly. It's like they tried to make it appeal to 10-year-olds by overdoing the CGI and the music. The whole movie was like that. It was a cartoon. It was Ok, but nowhere near the level of the other films.
@Ryoukun16 ...what? Dude, you're putting words into my mouth. I NEVER said that. No, I thought the "Goldeneye" gunbarrel was great (especially the darker tone of the music), and I thought the "Tomorrow Never Dies"/"World is Not Enough" gunbarrels were good because they were simple. I just think this particular one tries to hard with the corny CGI bullet and the techno remix theme crap, and came off as silly and childish. It went too much for spectacle (like the whole movie).
@Ryoukun16 You're taking too much offense from my comments. To me, this was an awful gunbarrel, because of the tacky music and silly Matrix-rip-off effects. It's a Saturday morning cartoon version of the gunbarrel. And I don't see how the last two tried too hard. Casino Royale was very basic, and as a reboot gave us a sort-of "origin" to the gunbarrel. It was just him turning and firing- if anything it was more subdued and tasteful. QoS was just a classic sequence, no tacky effects or music.
@Ryoukun16 Not to mention, why would Bond fire a round perfectly into the gunbarrel as this suggests? And HOW would he manage that, it's a 1 in a million shot? In fact, I'm not even sure it's possible given the suggestion of angle in the sequence. And how would that kill the person, unless it randomly blew up their gun and they were killed by a shrapnel effect? It makes no sense, in addition to looking silly.
Ridiculous. Sounds like a Model T trying to start in the background. Not to mention the whole idea came from that pervert transvestite jap they hired to direct.
The theme for this movie should have been "All Time Low".
@HangTheDJ16 when i seen this in the cinemas even though there was no 3d films back then i still thought the bullet was coming right at me and i ducked down out of my seat LOL.it was funny apart from hitting my head off the seat whilst ducking down:(:L
when i saw this in theaters i was so excited, because i have always loved bond as a young kid and this one was the first bond i saw in theaters, and seeing the bullet fly into the screen was amazing
because thats the way they edited it? who knows what the deep symbolic meaning is, why is the first 7 mins of casino royale in b/w ... why do we watch gunbarrel clips from james bond... why is there such a clip... who really cares... sorry! I'm in a bad mood today.
In art, black and white brings more emotion than color. You have millions of colors that you can determine the mood by the sense of color. Red is angry, blue is upset, etc. Black and white, there is no color so you get more of an emotion.
Confusing, right? lol Really, that doesn't make sense.
@TheRitchardgaleHater How is he boring in the gunbarrel? How?! He's got the best shoot, he turns like lightning and fires instantly just like a real agent would, which the other bonds didn't seem to do.
@matt6517 They way his gunbarrels just are, he just has a boring walk and then he just turns instantly and shoot, I'd enjoy this gunbarrel if it wasn't CGI and his turn would have been more like Connerys or Daltons.
The gunsound effect is bad too, atleast I think so, and a bullet IN the gunbarrel, INSIDE THE FREAKIN GUNBARREL!! That's just too much
@TheRitchardgaleHater I like his walk, as it's very purposefull and the way he shoots with amazing reflexes. It really is as if he's walking along, senses something, and acts on instinct.
As for the gunshot sound, it is more modern than the classic PPK sound of the others, and I think it's refreshing to adapt the sound to match more modern handguns.
@matt6517 Well I wish they would have stayed the way the gunbarrels was in earlier movies, similiar is ok though, and the CGI gunbarrel is probably the worst part about this, they should have stayed with they way they were in the 80's and earlier than that
@TheRitchardgaleHater Are you mad? The CGI barrel adds so much to the effect, making it look a lot more like metal. The only reason I can think of that you don't like it is that you will only accept tradition, in this case the outdated gunbarrel. Things don't all have to stay the same for it to be a good James Bond movie, things have to change otherwise they really do get outdated. Look at the cars, they didn't stick with the original DB5, they're now onto the modern DBS.
@matt6517 Yeah, but it's just not the same watching a Bond movie full with CGI effects, they should have stayed with the traditional, the real Bond way hehe
@matt6517 Actually, the "outdated" gunbarrel was in fact a real gunbarrel. They got the effect by pointing a pinhole camera down an actual gunbarrel and then filming Bob Simmons walking along, turning and shooting=)
@cpacoustic That's pretty neat. But lets be honest, a lot of people are going to prefer a version which looks a lot better, and is also reminiscent of the decade it is in. It doesn't really matter if it isn't an actual gunbarrel, that's not really that important IMO.
@matt6517 I'd agree that it's not that important that the original was an actual gunbarrel BUT honestly I think it does look better. The new ones IMO are very obvious CGI, something that, as a huge sci-fi fan, really bugs me. They could look so much better. But each to their own eh?=)
