  • Prarie Prince was awesome.

  • Why's he got his Shlong out !!!! ? lol

  • @Holygasoline

I guess, because he could back then! These vids were unclassified back then. Music was art. And if Fee wanted to show his dong, well, that was his art! Bless the 80's!

  • He said "I wanna find out if this love is really real" in the vid but the recording is "I gotta find out..." hehehe OOPS. tubes were one of the coolest bands in their day.

  • I could swear I hear more drums in this mix then on the original CD. Well, the remastered version just came out, so will get that as well as it's one of my desert island titles.

  • This band was GREAT before they had commercial radio success and still is a great band to see live now. They still tour. I think their best work was in the seventies. Find and buy the album "White Punks on Dope"[remastered] from 2004. It is the first and second (Young and Rich their best work in my opinion) albums from The Tubes. Also look up "What do you want from Live" from 1977 I think. Not available on CD in it's entirety yet, but one of the best live albums if not THE BEST EVER!

  • It seemed like video albums were going to be huge in the early '80s, but then they just kinda stopped (though a couple people, like Beck, Beach House, and Super Furry Animals have made recent ones). Hardly any of them are out on DVD right now. The only one I can think of is Blondie's "Eat to the Beat." If anyone makes a case for record companies going back to the video vaults, it's the Tubes.

  • what the heck, hahahaha, the Tubes,I remember them being sort of big for a very short while. But it didn't survive, out of time, like they say it's a matter of time, gone with the wind.People really liked that sxxx!

  • After watching this, let me call him Mr. Waybill! LOL

  • @digitman6969 YEP LOL :D

  • Fee . . . get a tan, and a room!

  • Yo, I'm gonna let you finish watching the Tubes, but you need to know that Taylor Swift had one of the greatest videos of all time. Doin' my bit to rehab my image, Kanye

  • Tubes videos were always a good watch with the family. It's like I'm waiting for Marsha Brady to come on scene doing cartwheels.

  • You said it, rg!!! Inspiration, songwriting, playing, singing, recording, talent, everything in music's gone down the shitter these days...

  • "before political correctness reared its ugly head"

AMEN!! We're cursed with the shit IN SPADES now. Like a fucking cancer. It took over society, killed music & creative expression. Sad so many willing dupes bought into it.

We don't get artistry & passion like THE TUBES in music anymore. Music has been castrated, sanitized business class PC garbage. Theres nothing like old school music, where the artists really were artists & not these dumbed down label made, corporate TOOL cardboard cut-outs

  • @rg2027x DITTOx10......

  • @rg2027x Nostalgia goggles, you're wearing them. It just takes a bit of time to find the good stuff nowadays, but I assure you it's there.

  • As fucked up as this is, is has worked for me more often than not. Perhaps it is 30 odd years of study, but I was a Tubes acolyte in the 80's, and to this day, the completion backward principle, is applied diligently, and without recklessness, well, it works! Positive imaging and all that, but really, from the Tubes? Awesome. Zappa-esque philosophy, quantum reality, the Tubes are zen of the pop-rock stage band.

  • The Tubes on you tube.How appropriate.Thanks a lot : )

  • They have to re-release this stuff!

  • Great comedy and great music. Completion Backwards Principle ! Such Irony ! a parody on corporate think-tanksim ! going it one better ! This band was better organized than most 'legit' businesses I have worked with or for ! LOL !

  • I love the production and song writing on this album. The drums sound fantastic.

  • I wore out a few cassette tapes of this album in the day. This album was actually the soundtrack of my life for that whole year or so.

  • classic mind-fuck rock.

    totally fucked up my life.

i can never repay the favor

30 years of pain and effort-

a quarter of a million hours of fear and faking it.

  • Directed by Kenny Ortega. The man who produced Michael Jackson.

  • The Tubes will always be my favorite band, but I am rather P.O.ed with Fee. We knew each other for a couple of years, & he's heard a taste of my singing. The band has met me, & I was told that they would get me in on their next album, as a session singer. But- Fee has bollixed that up, & basically told me what a schmuck I was for believing him.

We're here- but are they really there?

  • Look in their eyes

  • this is fucking awesome,oh why was i born in 88 not 30 years earlier.

  • @jasonjarvis1988 youd be old soon enough

  • In the shower scene, as Fee is toweling himself off,,,look closely...Cynthia Rhodes of Dirty Dancing is one of the girls. She was dancing in the Tubes live stage shows back then, with the petite redhead, Cheryl Hangland! Awesome!

  • Ta for the upload. I haven't seen this in what must be fifteen years, at least.

  • Wow, I now know what Fee's cock looks like........

  • Saw the Tubes last July and it was awesome. They played mostly their 70's and early 80's. Fee Waybill did like ten costume changes including Quay Lude.Still a little outrageous and a lot of fun!

  • Thanks for posting this! I loved the Tubes. So what is Fee Waybill doing now?

  • I can't stop playing this video!

I watched all five parts beginning to end at least once a day for about a week now...

  • Great band musically, and always entertaining with personas and costumes. Locker room scene is cheesy and I love it!

  • Hum, I think I've still got this laserdisk sitting around. I may have to go look for it...

  • Pioneer reissued this on laserdisc in 1997, right before DVDs started coming onto the market. (It claims to have a Dolby Digital 5.1 track but it's a phony mix- stick with the PCM stereo track.) This was directed by Kenny Ortega, better known for the High School Musical movies.

  • It was choreographed by Kenny Ortega. It was directed by Russell Mulcahy.

  • Rettrodood !!! top top post !!! i had this video on VHS !! lent it out ! never saw it again :( until NOW :) i have seen the tubes every time they have been over in england !!! what a band ! thanks so much for the post ... chris

  • Robert Heinlein philosophy in the coolest band ever. Rock squared! I'm truly the anti-hippie, but the dynamic of using imagination to foresee the result works better that 50% of the time... Tubes are fucking awesome!

  • god was this band under-rated! these songs are still good! 30 years later! The tone is a bit dated, but the spirit is there! And the lyrics and melody are just as current! Tube rock forever!

God i loved these guys! The bassline was so cool!

i wish i could have met my wife at one of their concerts! We did okay anyway,, but this would have been the icing on the cake!

  • geesh, fee put some clothes on

  • I knew 'Sports Fans' was not one of their best songs, but had no idea the video was just as worse...nudity and all....sheesh. Loved 'Matter Of Pride" video.

  • Thanks for uploading this!! I wanted to frak all three of those cheerleaders. The Tubes made some great songs and vids.

  • I used to have this on VHS tape. One of the best, if not The Best, music videos ever. Thanks for the memories!

  • I also have it on VHS, and played it to death in years gone by. Thought I'd capture and upload it before the tape shed too many oxides, and was rendered unplayable! This was the soundtrack to my younger years. Hope to hell it is re-released on DVD soon!

  • @RettroDood Actualy, I recall that a number of the more visualy oriented acts of this same era were making similar music video anthologies. Like I also remember that ELO had one out ( titled ELO ), Alice Cooper had one ( titled The Nightmare), Blondie had one ( Eat To The Beat ) and Devo had one too ( Men Who Make The Music ). This one I remember seeing on late night cable television in 1982,... pretty mind-blowing !

  • @RettroDood I'm guessing you already know, but it should have been released a couple of days ago!

  • @RettroDood they will have to edit out Fee's johnson. That shocked the heck out of me when I was 15.

  • DVD RELEASE PLEASE

  • This is the reason for YOU TUBE......

Looks like Faye could hit!.....hey Capitol gang, what a great ride......Tusken, Lambert, Luthin, Carter, Meyer, and Train.....

Completion Backwards is making even more sense...

if we had made this a hit, would it have mattered? fking masterpiece album

  • I wish I had this version of Sports Fans instead of the single version.

  • Thank you! I'm glad I've found it! =))

  • Love the Asian cheerleader!

  • The cheerleaders are definitely hot..... Wish I could be working close to them like in this video :)

  • GREAT UPLOAD!!! I saw them live on the Outside Inside tour. Got this vhs right after it. Thanks for posting! way to swing Fee!!! lol

  • "way to swing Fee!!! lol"

Yep. Way back before political correctness, music videos were considered "art".

Consequently, "The Tubes Video" escaped the censorship radar.

Russell Mulcahy (who produced this video extraveganza), also produced a bunch of Duran's videos, (Girls On Film etc).

I guess he figured if he could get away with showing girls, sliding around in shaving cream, mud, and rubbing ice on their bazookas, he could also get away with displaying Fee's shlong!

    Gotta love the 80's!

  • Awesome! I used to have this on one of those huge laser disks, a format that lasted about 6 minutes... Hope Mike puts some of this stuff on The Tubes Documentary DVD he's making. Cynthia Rhodes, married to Richard Marx... wow, smokin' hot in the cheerleader outfit!
