  • two words erik gundersen

  • Bit strange this one! Best speedway rider, ever, is Ivan Mauger....no question!

  • It's a bit misleading, the title I mean. It's supposed to be the best speedway rider ever and what you get is a few photos of Ermolenko (?) Don't quite get it...

  • How weird. The title says something about the best speedway rider ever, but when you open it there's just lods of pictures of Sam Ermolenko.

  • What a team Hackney had. As I said Colin Pratt was my all time favorite. I think I went to every home match the year they finished level on points with Coventry but lost the title on Point difference. Heard Middleton was a nutter. Great times cant believe the stadium Is gone forever.

  • good video,i race in newzealand, trained by ronnie moore who is also a legend,i do attend the odd ivan mauger training aswell,he is also legend lol. There is nowhere near the competition here as is over seas but great sport.I am 2nd in newzealand this year and plan to hit up u.s.a to further my skills......NO BRAKES,NO GEARS,NO FEAR!!!!

  • There are so many good ones. Who remembers Rick Woods? He and Mike Bast used to have some match races that would amaze even Euro long trackkies, Like Ivan Mauger. Even when Ivan was in the states, he could rarely beat Woods. He was many times the US champ, but didn't like the food in europe. Speedway is awesome.

  • @arklat kenny carter

  • I have to hand it to anyone that has ever ran a speedway machine,You have to have gonad's the size of bowling ball's!

  • Erik Gunderson. was the all time had he not had that bad crash at Bradford he would have been world champ more ....

  • IVAN MAUGER

  • Mauger..Fundin..Briggs..Olsen...Moore...Craven....Take your pick!

  • @TheWhitehall Olsen

  • @del690 The Flying Dane. Ole a great racer. My vote would go to Briggo. But all are legends

  • @TheWhitehall I saw Briggo a couple of times at Hackney Speedway. One great race he had was with Colin Pratt. They crossed he line neck and neck as Briggs engine exploded. I use to have a piece of it but alas it is long gone. Another time Garry Middleton knock him off and when he got back to the pits he nearly strangled Middleton. Being as Middleton was a wanker it was pretty funny.

  • @del690 Briggo blew quite a few engines in his time. I read in one of his books that Middleton was not on his Christmas Card list.

  • @del690 I was At That Hackney v Swindon meeting. I was about 12 and right near the tapes. I still think of that race With Colin Pratt and Barry Briggs like It was yesterday but it wasn't just the finsh that, whole race was epic. To me the best I ever saw made sweeter by the fact that Colin Pratt was my favorite rider. I wish it could have been caught on film. great post by you. Thanks!

  • @breakfastattifs61 We must have been close then because I was sitting on that rail that run around the out side of the dog track. I was most likely about 6-7 ahead of the finish line. Hackney was a great track. Excellent racing.

  • @del690 I Used to sit on that rail every Friday. About the same time period I once asked Malcolm Simmons for his autograph when he rode for Wimbledon and he told me to F#$K OFF. Still think he's a pr$ck to this day

  • @breakfastattifs61 I would run down to the pits after the meeting and get autographs. I pretty much had everyone that mattered. Then I actually worked as a pit boy for Middleton for a few weeks but he was a total moron so I skipped out.

I hated Wimbledon. They also seemed kind of snobby.

I loved Banger, he was my fav. I liked the way he would go wide on the last turn and then come under so many riders.

Sport was value for money back then.

  • @TheWhitehall kenny carter the best rider of all time. he would of won the title a few times if that twat penhall didnt smash him a few times

  • @heathlfc5times . Kenny was a very exciting and fast racer. As you say, not on good terms with Penhall, who took "KC" out on more than one occasion.

  • @heathlfc5times , kenny was a coward ,spoiled little yorkshire pup never lived up to what he saw himself ,if he was the best of all time than what happened ?? how many titles did he have ?? world championships =none far from best of all time Penhall beat him like a rented mule .i can still hear him crying in La heee tooook me legs riiiight out from under me iiiii had nooooo chance watch the video shown on bbc penhall didnt hit him

  • @frankie64411 this is bull shit best speedway rider ever was ivan mauger 9 world tittles .. 3 long track records .. from new zealand ..

  • @ratrodralphy ivan mauger won 6 world titles not 9......i think

  • @ForeverALBION if you watch the mauger doco it says he won 15 world tittles . have a look. he now lives in Malaysia and teaches guys to ride.

  • @ratrodralphy i thought it was six cuz i remember them sayin on skysports that tony rickardson won five n he was 1 behind mauger and it says in the history of world speedway champions book he won six

  • @ForeverALBION Results for: ivan mauger 15 world tottles titles

  • Sam is the nicest bloke you are ever likely to meet. A fantastic ambassador for sppedway. He is a legend in his own right. He might not be Hans Nielsen, but hes the best america have produced and that includes the likes of Hamill and Hancock.

    Kenny Eggers

Most all of the Bast Brothers

  • Ehhh Hmmm....The Best speedway rider ever Was Micheal "THE MACHINE" Bast.

    LEGEND!

  • 'Sudden' Sam - what a legend!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My father was riding with Sam in wrocław :)

  • i at next to him today at belle vue vs wolves

  • The USA has given European Speedway teams great riders. They are an important ingredient in speedway, their riders often having their very unique style. Great crowd pleasers. True Showman. Sam certainly has done his bit for the sport and will carry on, his comments on Sky TV are spot on.

  • Sam M8, your the best speedway rider in the world and deserved everything you got. Your the reason speedway riders ride.

  • hey - he wasnt even the best rider ever on his own track - that honour goes to Erik Gundersen - Career record against Wolves and Sammy at Monmore Green - nearly 11.2 out of 12 - number of maximums - almost 20) - Sam 'The Legend' Ermolenko - career record against Erik at Monmore Green - nearly 8.5 out of 12 - number of maximums - 0).

Not in the same league really.

  • A fine rider , but not the best ever.

  • Sam wróć do Orła łódź. Pomóż wywalczyć pierwszą ligę!!!
