  • DEFINITELY THE BEST PIANO TUTORIAL INSTRUCTOR ON YOUTUBE...I LEARNED SHES GOT A WAY AND THIS SO FAR...KEEP IT UP GOOD SIR

  • @TheTisssssssss Cool, glad it worked for you. :-)

  • The master of the Johns

  • How do you support camera above the piano?

  • @themusicguy27Xx I built a special stand from an old tripod that I use to mount over the keys. not the best, but it works okay.

  • For some reason I always pictured you as Elton John

  • my stupid fucking small ass cocksucking fingers are too small for the C chord . FUCK!

  • @GiveMeMyWhammy You can always leave one of the outside notes off and not play an octave, if that helps. The chord is still there that way.

  • @GiveMeMyWhammy I like how your comment is just filled with complete profanity, and yet this gentleman responded in a helpful manner as if he said something like, my friggin' tiny little fingers just don't fit the C Chord, gosh darn. Shoot!

  • Whoo im writting these notes! i wanna learn this song

  • exellent lesson¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • today is my birthday and sitting around with nothing to do yet I thought I would try to learn an elton john song...long shot? not thanks to you! your video made it so easy for me that this is now the thrid song ive leared how to play by elton. I play piano by ear so thank you very much piano john for helping me. it means the world!

  • @doorknob2150 Hey, happy birthday to you! Glad the video was helpful!

  • my dad said if i learn this for him he will give me money! :D

  • @kaylahappygirl Tha'ts a pretty good deal for you!

  • @pianojohn113 lol yeah :D

  • @pianojohn113 but the problem is i am only 12 and my hands are not big enough

  • @kaylahappygirl If that's the case, you can play just single notes in the left hand instead of octaves (play the lower note instead of both notes). Same thing with the right - you can play three-note chords instead of four.

  • @pianojohn113 oh. thank you so much!

  • my dad loves elton john! he loves when i pplay it for him on my keyboard, so thanx alot for uploading this! it makes it alot easier to learn :) great tutorial 8D

  • @DrMac94 Your dad has great taste in music! Glad it worked it for you. :-)

  • learned alot from your videos! thanks for your videos!

  • You've got the best tutorials, thanks for posting them.

  • This is very good, but this is not really how you play the real song if you look at the music Elton John wrote himself. Just all the chords only have 3 fingers playing on the right hand. So you would just take away the finger on the very write. This is not meant to be hate. Just trying to help. :D

  • @daddymomo123 Actually, this is very much like Elton plays it, you are probably referencing a chord sheet and playing the bare minimums

  • This is great, love it. Thanks for the breakdown.

  • @pianojohn113

you do a great job teaching these songs !! Thanks for sharing this !

  • Thank you so very much for this! You make it so easy! It's in a style that I play in too, though that's probably because I listened to a lot of Elton John as I grew up and learnt to play the piano and write my own music. :)

  • @napalmnacey Yeah, it helps to listen to his style.. gives you a head start on learning the song, for sure. :-)

  • Hey man,

I am a guitar player, but you made me take up piano now.

    Excellent videos!

    Regards,

    Gregory

  • @guitarGR That's great, I wish I could play guitar.. I could never quite master it.

  • Really nice job

Any chance of doing Roy rogers ?

  • What's the theory for deciding what should be the bass note?

  • @astralislux The bass note really determines the strength of the chord. A root note bass is the strongest, while a third note bass (like C/E) softens it. A fifth note bass (like C/G) really changes the flavor almost entirely. Each is used for different purposes, depending on what effect the composer wants to convey to the listener.

  • Ummm, you don't have a version of this song because YOU did not have any part in it! I really don't understand how people can take someone else's hard work and and just do what they want with it! If you want to change music, put "your" touch into it, WRITE IT YOUR OWN DAMN SELF!!!!

    Leave others' work ALONE

  • @LightningDemon Yeah, right. Cut the Prozac in half, Skeezix.

  • @pianojohn113 lol

  • @pianojohn113

How come you continue to be a legend?

  • @LightningDemon EJ plays this song differently himself every time.

  • @astralislux

He wrote it, well, him and Bernie.

So, he can play it however he wants to. It's HIS!

  • @LightningDemon It's shorthand for the phrasing and way of playing that he does. It's quite obvious that he doesn't think he wrote it.

  • Thanks for the video mate! you've helped me alot. Cheers

  • thank you so much for this video & sheet music!

  • thanks, john. i like this song. thanks for the sheet music too!

  • @jhardknox Glad you liked it. I can't take credit for the sheet music, but I'll pass your thanks on to the person is did it.

  • HI PianoJohn, have been a long time Elton fan, for decades, have all the cd\dvds\LPs, lyric books, a few sheet music books etc, been to all his concerts. Love your interpretations, really great stuff. Will be buying a piano soon to realise a life long dream to learn to play some of Elton's songs. Your playing is yet another inspiration for me to buy a piano. Say, have you ever tried to play "Ticking" , have you ever found the sheet music for it? I have searched for years ! Best regards.

  • @Cheetaa05 For reals..... Go to Lypur's channel and take the 40 lessons. Get a piano and take pianojohns113's tutorials. You'll be playing "Dont let the sun go down on me" in a week. Thats what I did. It was a lifelong dream for me too.

  • Is this an A7 chord?:

    A A/ GAE

  • @Sodahpop96 It can be, depending on the context of the song. Without the third, though, it can be heard as either an A7 or an Am7. It's kind of like playing a 5th chord, but in that case, you've added the dominant 7th.

  • Thanks a lot !!!

  • You are great at tutorials-- you don't waste a lot of time and show what to do very clearly

  • Your Amazing.

    Thanks alot.

although i got 0 skill in piano, after 2 weeks of practice im playing it great tho (:

What about "Indian sunset" Tutorial? oh my god it will be amazing

  • awesome tutorial pianojohn113 and thank you VERY much! will you also give a tutorial of Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters? another great Elton song, thanks again

  • The first chord in the bridge (starting on the word "blues") is incorrect. Instead of Bbm7 it's Db. So that's Db Eb Ab Db Bbm7 C F

  • No, it's a Bbm7. The right hand plays a Db chord, but the left hand goes down to the Bb, making it a Bbm7. It's a standard chord progression that Elton uses all the time.

  • Perhaps. But the bass player is playing a Db. If Elton is playing a different bass note on the piano then it would clash.

  • Actually Bb and Db complement one another very nicely.. Doesn't sound like they clash at all on the song.

  • not too sound newbie or anything but finding the finger movement a bit tricky.

  • Best song teacher ever!! finally someone that knows how the original song actually is! thanks, keep them coming!!!

  • your videos rule dude.

    People in Ireland dig it.

  • I put a video response of me playing Martha My Dear, after learning it from your video. It was pretty good!

  • I just saw it, you rocked! Nice job!!

  • Very good! I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I've learned a lot! I do request, though, that you make a tutorial for American Pie, by Don McLean. It's a great song for piano, and a great song in general.

  • I totally agree!

  • amazing tutorial, very direct.

    thanks man!

  • Thank you for making an amazing song easier to learn.

  • Absolutely Amazing.... My true inspiration!

  • You're very welcome! :-)

  • Can you do Indian sunset

    PLEASE!!!

  • I like that song, but amazingly, I've never played it.. I don't know why, because it's a nice tune!

  • I was learning this song and noticed you didnt add the small bridge in between the first chorus back to the verse right before he says, what do you think youll do then.

  • I think right there he plays the C and G together in the right hand, followed by A then F. I'd have to listen to it again.
