  • But can it blend?

  • Incredibly awesome. I have a sudden craving for sausage pizza and game tokens.

  • This video is just stuffed with awesome and drizzled with win.

  • You just won the internet, good sir.

  • I WISH Chuck E. Cheese had shit like this back in the old days. This is some quality work, keep it up!

  • I used to have nightmares about the Chuck E. Cheese band.

Now it has a NIN soundtrack.

    Fuck yeah.

  • Yes. Yes to all of this.

  • brain-gazm!

  • I never heard that at Showbiz... LOL WONDERFUL!

  • man what an amazing show! i just watched the documentary on hulu and the videos you've created really awakened the kid in me.. i'm only 28 but i remember seeing the rock-a-fire explosion in south carolina as a child visiting relatives, and it felt like a dream to me all throughout my life until seeing them again in your youtube channel!

  • I still enjoy how Trent Reznor is the gorilla..because in real life...he is.

  • BRAIN MELTED.

  • Awesome job guys! Thanks for helping preserve some memories from a better time. Keep up the great work!

  • Most amazing thing ever I love anything related to these guys or showbiz may it LIVE on FOREVER!

  • Seriously. I feel this in my happy place. I rarely say someone's opinion can be 'wrong', but if you Disliked this? You're wrong.

  • YES!!!!EPIC!!!!

  • great job with ALL of these vids! maybe bohemian rapsody or a led zeppelin song? jesus so many awesome songs could be used for this i could suggest stuff 'till the end of time it seems!

  • As a fan of both RAE and NIN, this is absolutely incredible!

  • My mind just blew up! I love this!

  • Rockafire Explosion+King Diamond, get crackin.

  • holy fuckin shit

  • RAE that is. is there band merch? seriously, a t-shirt with the logo would be great

  • this was the first band i saw live.

  • i admire your precision and for being the first to make this concept. WHATS SO HARD TO BELIEVE IS THAT THIS IS LATE 80'sTECHNOLOGY,& this is still the best thing i"ve seen since my childhood. this is truly,,, tha peak of technology! FUCKIN awesome!!

  • BLOW MY FUCKING BRAINS OUT

  • hahaha. the other thing that always gets me is they're-their-there....people are so stupid these days

  • i want one of these things :D

  • You work so hard for these amazing shows... could you perhaps invest in a high quality video camera? These are so grainy... I'm betting you would get that deal a lot faster if you had a clearer video! I wish you all the best and endless success!

  • @bellazombirella I think the low quality of the video adds to the whole feel. it gives them a kind of weird creepy tone. I think its great!

  • Shiting Bricks: You just did it!

  • How is this not the most watched/subscribed channel on YouTube?

  • They're going to kill us all.

  • I can't stop staring in horrified fascination.

  • I can't hear this song now without thinking about this video. Awesome!!!!

  • Can you please do Motorhead?

  • Fucking awesome! I agree with you Mark!

  • Dude, if I was NIN, I would actually make this the official video.

  • I'm gonna say that in this video, the hulking size of these guys feartures more prominently into the act. Pretty imposing. Nice.

  • fuck ya! Rock-afire hits NIN! shits awesome!!

  • thats pretty terrifying... i always had a dressed up robot phobia... but even i can admit this is impressive. we need an adult chuck e cheeze with these guys lol

  • abasolutley amazing! Top tier for sure!

  • one of the best videos on youtube.

  • Awesome, just awesome!!! Great work Aaron!

  • Aaron this is so awesome! I

  • Pretty cool. There are so many good songs that you could have these guys play, why are people picking stupid songs?

  • not much different than a nine inch nails concert, except i doubt the gorilla would knock the keyboard over and start singing the hand that feeds if you screamed head like a hole while he was playing hurt

  • Dook is hurt lol his mouth is ripped on both sides.

  • Absolutely EPIC. How you managed to make these goofy robots credible, I'll never comprehend. Awesome camerawork and lighting, perfect animation, just excellent.

  • I think ive posted this in every video but that damn polar bear is my favorite. If i were a rich person id buy one but my guess is that fella costs about 1000$ (prob more)

And i think ill just spend my money on beer and watch the videos instead.

  • fog machine??

  • excellent work chris. this is the best one yet.

  • thats scary as fuk! im gonna have nightmares tonight!!!! damn it!!

  • do dragula

  • This is such an awesome song! My band cover it live sometimes!

  • bloody brilliant

  • Trent is in The Rock-fire Explosion now? They are alot better than i remembered...but I was drunk. He brings something to the band. lol thanks for that video well done...

  • 5 fucking STARRRRS!

  • i know the band whats the song name?

  • This is fantastic work. I hope that you are genuinely proud of the work you're doing with the RAE. It's brilliant, original, and appreciated by countless people. It's a wonderful amalgamation of art and entertainment. It is truly impressive the way that you've taken memories and creativity and... well... brought them to life! Great job.

  • This is such a wonderful, inspirational message and I soaked it in and felt new desire to keep Rock-afiring after I read this. Thank you.

    Aaron

  • Well, I meant every word of it. Most people live their entire lives without bringing anything new to this world, and you've created something that is appreciated by millions. When my friend first directed me to a link with one of your videos, she was really excited and happy. I'm sure there have been plenty of other such e-mails and IMs sent with links to your work. Whether it's from sheer entertainment value or something more sentimental, your work is putting smiles on many faces.

  • Oh c'mon, if you're gunna sync a bunch of mechanical animals up to Nine Inch Nails, you GOTTA do Closer... oh right, kid's place...

  • Except when the gorilla says "Put the gun in my mouth, close your eyes, blow my f***ing brains out..."

  • It starts getting freaky by the time Rolfe & Billy Bob (?) are chanting the chorus at the end. "I don't feel anything..." and their eyes get big, kinda like the Terminator or something. Outstanding production here!

  • This is the greatest thing I've seen in my life.

  • seriously amazing. why isn't this more popular?

  • Another excellent video! The lighting was great, the directing was wonderful and i even loved the smoke that u used. Even chirography was great. Wonderful Job!!

  • AMAZING !!! and really funny

  • where did you get the snowing effect for WMM?

  • I think its better to mix it up and you did an awesome job at shooting and editing this video. I am a huge fan and I continue sharing your work with everyone I know.

  • I love love love what you're doing here!! Though, I'd appreciate your animatronic programming more if there was less camera 'work' in the video. The more I can see on the stage, the better. The Usher 'Love in This Club' one is perfect. That said, I'm so glad you're doing what you're doing!!

  • Hi Thanks! I'm doing a little of everything when it comes to production ideas to keep you wondering what the next production will look like. You might like a couple of minimalist productions for "Mary" and "Do It For Love". Everybody likes something different, so there's no clear, single formula that applies to every song and every situation.

  • It's cool to want to keep the video production fresh. But, seriously, with lots of close ups and lots of shots with only one or two characters in frame it looks like you only programmed those one or two characters for that particular shot. I know you spend A LOT of time programming all characters, lights, etc. I just figured you'd want us to see that. Because, in my opinion, it's pretty fantastic and fun to see that many of the characters are actually involved in the song at the same time.

  • I see where you're coming from, but as a filmaker myself, I can tell you that it's best to have a focus. It looks more professional that way. If anything there could be quick cutaways to the other characters, but since they aren't singing, it's not as important.

  • Since NIN supposedly aren't playing out anymore (or at least not for a while), I'd glady settle for seeing this at Showbiz Pizza. :)

  • The part that drives me CRAZY is when the Moon echos "AWAY...way...way..."

    Brilliant.

  • holy cow! fantastic.

  • they just kicked chuck E. cheese's in the fucking face!

  • I wanna take my kids here for pizza.

  • I need the natural audio of the robots whizzing in the room to really feel this... that's what was so amazing about the ms. new booty one...

  • AMAZING special effects and programming!!

  • Couldn't have picked a better song.

    Animatronics.

    They "don't feel anything".

  • Think its weird? Imagine watching this on acid.

  • You'll have nightmares for days...

  • This is the best thing that has ever happened, ever. :D

  • couldn't agree more!!!!

  • hahaha awesome!!!

  • This absolutely reeks of awesomeness.

  • I feel the robot pain

  • LMAO!

  • I'm not sure if 2:18-2:30 is awesome, or terrifying.

  • Good point, it's a little scary haha.

  • aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • also, it's kind of funny/creepy/disturbing seeing inanimate puppets repeating "I don't feel anything at all" over and over again.

  • I wouldn't call them 'inanimate'....they look like they're movin to me! lol. I think the word you might be looking for is...mechanical puppets?

  • anything is possible when you know how to spell "you're."

  • @risefm hahaha. people are so stupid these days, the other thing that always gets me is their-they're-there people are so stupid these days

  • top notch!

  • I just wanted to say that this video made my day. I read the article about these videos a few months ago in a magazine, I think it was SPIN, and just never remembered to look these up again, but this was great. +FAV

  • this is great! "thumbs up"

  • Too awesome. I saw this band live many times in my childhood and they never played something like this!

  • show biz pizza?

  • lol at 3:33

  • Aweosme! I love the gorrila, I wish he would be the singer more often, Whats his name? And whats the wolf with the puppets name?

  • The gorilla's name is "Fatz Geronimo"; the wolf is "Rowlf", and his puppet is named "Earl".

  • Haha, "Rolfe" is the spelling. :P

    FK

  • is that the band from chuck e cheese

  • Lol no. This is the band from Showbiz Pizza. Chuck E. Cheese was their rivals. back in the 80's to early 90's

  • that's right well isnt it chuck e cheese now

  • I guess they did just kind of Chuck E. Cheese sort of bought out Showbiz from what I understand. Rock-afire never was apart of Chuck E. Cheese though...once Showbiz disappeard, so did the Rock-afire Explosion. I've heard there are still a very slim few preforming publicly, and then there are the people who got a hold of the anamatronics and set them up in there own backyard to make shows like this on youtube. :)

  • Showbiz actually bought out CEC. But when they kicked Creative Engineering out, they changed their names to Chuck E. Cheese's.

    FK

  • Hey. I REALLY enjoy the RAE! As a musician I find it inspiring. If they can play it I should be able to too huh? I wish that the remaining shows out there could be taken better care of old and new( i.e. Odyssey Fun World - Tinley Park) I pray many blessings over your life sir. Thanks for keeping me young and remembering the good old days.

  • This is an awesome song and video Aaron, you did a great job with everything in this video. I love and miss the Rock-afire Explosion so much, and I'm wondering what you'll do next. Hey, you should bring these guys back to St. Louis Missouri, we have a new pizza place here called "Incredible Pizza" there just like Showbiz Pizza, games, rides, and everything for the whole family but no animatronics at all. Now that would be awesome if it happened. Hope to see your next video soon.

  • If I said I was totally blown away by this, it STILL wouldn't begin to cover how much I love this! It only makes me wonder what you're going to do next! Gorilla Hugs!

  • Love it! The extra effort in filming really goes a long way.

  • Wow! They should have these guys at Dave & Busters playing cool stuff like this! It is the grown up Chuck E Cheese afterall.

  • is it bad if i agree with the comment below? It may have something to do with being a furry i guess

  • The drummer is sexy.

  • Hey-ell yeah, he's sexy! You shoulda heard him sing in the 80s.

  • amazing

  • Aaron! This is amazing! I loved the use of the fog machine, strobe light AND the extra "glowing" head under the keyboard! Nice! I'll never forget going to Showbiz and Circus Circus in the Minneapolis area back in the 80s! So you're in Florida, right? I think I might have to give you an email next time I visit my cousins in Vero Beach!!!!!!

Thanks for all that you do!

  • So good.

    3:04

  • Well this... Sure is something.

    Something I like.

  • Sweet!

    I like the new affex.

I saw the little tour on the extras on the MGMT behind the scenes video..

    Pretty cool.

Yeah computer stuff is great but nothing beats the real sweat and heart it takes to build and program animatronics!

Anyway love your work aaron and good luck with the buisness...

  • Wow Aaron!

I think you have now inspired me to go dust off my programmer!

Perhaps the NIN song terrible lie

will need to follow this up soon!

  • Amazing as always, Aaron.

  • CG has its place, but watch some movies that still use animatronics and you can see more 'life' in that mass of rubber, aluminum, valves and hoses and gears, than you do in a computer generated thing.

Although how do you plan to make this into a TV show? Are you thinking like a half animatronic half live action kid's show? Or on something American Idol? LOL Rock-afire vs the Chuck E Cheese 'band'. "Hey Chuck where are your legs?!"

  • I think you'll get your backer soon enough, considering so much of the 80s is coming back in style, I'm sure someone will go "Y'know I really loved this as a kid" and want to see it go forward. And the videos you've posted so far show just how this 'old' band can be kept relevant. So how long does it take to setup a song like this? Since you had EVERYTHING moving in this one.

  • Too bad you're all the way down in Florida, be fun to visit that warehouse. (and you're actually replying to comments on youtube at 3am that's awesome) Have you ever considered changing the costumes? For some reason I think dressing them up in Star Wars get up would be awesome to see at Celebration 4, like Dook as Luke, Mitzi as Leia etc. Have them sing something by Gnarls Barkley...

  • Yea..I really wanted to dress Mitzi up in a late 60's, hippy girl outfit for this tune.. Just wait till we have a budget and a staff and a real TV show.

Yea..I wanted to throw a big party with this unveiling and talk to everybody that came! Even those that think it sucks are welcome to step up to the microphone, tell what they think and have cup of punch.

Party's still going cause new people are arriving all the time. I'm here till I drop and saying hello to everybody I can.

    Aaron

  • So, so incredibly awesome. Where is this, so I can come visit?

  • I'll put up a tour application some day, Right now, I handle just an occasional tour through my building for beer money. (But I don't drink beer so it just helps with the payments to stay alive). If you're interested in the details, contact me through messages or email..It's most cost effective if it's a whole group or family coming in because I don't charge any more for more people. I let people program the Rock-afire on the tour.

    Aaron

  • That was amazing. Y'know I still think something like this could still work really well today. Even if its not in a big franchise like Showbiz. But places like that really were fun back in the day. Plugging tokens into some cool video games, going through mazes and such, listening to the band play some pretty kickawesome music. Do you still sell these to private restaurants?

  • Not too much. once or twice a year these days. The winds of change are blowing. But, the Rock-afire has been waiting patiently in my warehouse all these years and hasn't aged a day. They're ready to rock the way we wanted to in 1980. It will be a different chemistry moving into the world of video, and, at least you know this is not computer generated.

    Aaron

  • That's what kills me about the way the times are these days, with everything so video-based, so computer generated; it just doesn't capture the magic of seeing something right before your eyes. That's always what set the Rock-afire Explosion apart from all the other shows like that of the era--they seemed REAL. Still do, honestly. Even if the RAE went fully video animated or CG, nothing would beat the live show. Through any form of entertainment, the live shows are always the best. ^_^

  • Hmm, I could have sworn I posted a comment on here this morning, but it appears to have pulled a Houdini.

This video is amazing. Not only do you have the nicest looking Fatz on the face of the earth, the programming is spot on. I'm not much of a fan of NIN, but I keep watching this over and over just for the sheer awesome-ness of it all. You did an extremely good job on this! :)

  • Thanks for re-posting tonight. I would hate to lose your comment. Like I was telling guapounggoy, we should cross fertilize our fan groups. I plan on going to the next Nine Inch Nails concert for sure!

  • HOLYBEANS, WOW!!!! I swear, the videos keep getting better and better! =D This song was full of energy, and the production of the camerawork, the choreography, and the special effects like the smoke all fit together NICELY! I got a kick out of the camera focusing on Dook working the bass drum. Shots like that made this feel like a classic music video. Aaron, you are the man. This was truly an amazing piece of work! Thank you!! KEEP IT UP!!! =D ^_____^

  • Much obliged. I always worry when you feel like this that the next production won't measure up.

  • I'm not even an NIN fan and this might be the best vid yet. I'm glad there is a venue where this great nostalgia can make me feel good.

  • Maybe we could cross fertilize our fan memberships and start learning about new things. That's what happens to me. Maybe this is good for both the Rock-afire AND Nine Inch Nails.

  • Now that's what I like to call Nine Inch Nostalgia. :D

I remember going to the Showbiz Pizza place down in Des Moines as a kid before (and after) it became Chuck E Cheeses. Seeing this brings back memories, and it's crazy weird and yet crazy cool at the same time that it's a Nine Inch Nails song.

  • As Billybob says, "whodathunkit?"

  • Money well spent!

    James/asitfalls/ikillbambis

  • this is really really good!!!

  • 2:32, Fechter! I caught you! I see what you did there!

  • Yea!!! See...I'm not such a prude.

  • Gasp! Is that frog trying to look up Mitzi's skirt?!

  • I can't believe no one has yet to mention BABY BEAR CHOO CHOO at 2:15 and 4:35! BABY BEAR CHOO CHOO + NIN = EPIC WIN!

  • Trent, must be the gorilla, right?? XD

  • Right, and Duke is his echo. Except at one point where I switched it around just to see if anyone noticed.

  • Using the old spelling, eh Mr. Fechter?

  • Oh Yea!! I forget sometimes...hee hee

  • fucking fantastic.... well done!!

  • Oh, but you are! You are missing the opportunity to tell us all what you enjoy. Please send a link so we can bring something of true value into our lives while you have the floor! Thank you!

    Aaron

  • hilAAAAAAAAAAAARious!

  • I know. I feel the same way about some movies that are out right now, magazines at the checkout counter, and, in particular, an art exhibit Kerry and I went to see recently! Boooooooring!

  • You take it so well. Haha

    FK

  • Simply amazing. The ending with all the characters repeating "I don't feel anything at all" is just... deep.

  • It's funny when you think about it, them being robots and all.

  • That was amazing, congratulations on your achievement! I was laughing all the way through!

  • TY!

  • This is seriously the best thing I've seen on YouTube in years.

  • Thanks!

  • I was in Austin to see Fanboys at the Drafthouse. They were also showing your movie, at the time I had no idea what it was but knew it sounded familiar. Now that I've been reminded I'm goin back to see it.

  • I don't think I've ever commented on one of your videos before so I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy them and appreciate your hard work. These are all great. I can't believe how well you did with NIN.

You mentioned in a few comments about being unsure of your camera-work and edits? I think they're great. It really adds a lot of excitement.

  • Thank you! The camera work won't always be so crazy. Sometimes a production calls for "calm", like the song, "Mary" done a few months back. I love that one too.

    Aaron

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks so much! I'll try.

    Aaron

  • Aaron, after talking to you via email last summer when you sent me that Buddy Holly medley, I knew you were a genuine guy.

Your creativity knows no bounds, and may you continue to entertain people for many years to come. The shows keep getting more and more complex, and you really are pushing those bots to their limits.

    - Derek M.

  • Derek,

It's so nice to hear from you! I was just watching Buddy Holley sing Peggy Sue live in 1958 tonight. He was the leader. I was just 5 when he died but had his records.

Let's go all the way and get the Rock-afire on TV! I'm ready to sink myself into that as a new career. We just have to let Nick or VH1 know we're ready. We'll have our meetings right here. Thanks for checking back in and we'll talk again soon.

    Aaron

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • I will admit, I was very skeptical about a NIN - Rock-afire pairing at first, but after seeing it...well, you completely pulled it off. The whole thing is perfectly executed, from the choreography to the lighting to the editing. Nicely done!

  • That means a lot to me. Thank you.

    Aaron

  • nice job with new rock-afire!

i would like to see one for starfuckers
