Today I bought a bag of veggie chips, and on the bag it said "NO GMO". A good thing, but it made me sad. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't the genetically modified food be the ones with the warnings and the labels? Or better yet, banned.

I have read about these stories for a long time now, how farmers have had there whole field took away through these companies with their altered seeds being released into fields. Now of course this is wrong but due to their patents, they can seize farmers fields in an instant.

I have hated and boycotted Monstanto since they pushed etoxyquin (a fat preservative) on pet food. I bet my life that this substance is what caused fatty liver disease in cats. Unfortunately, this company and a few more, especially from the pharmaceutical sector, are so powerful that they can actually CONTROL the FDA. People gotta start doing something about that, such as some kind of punishment for FDA officials if anything proves dangerous in the long run.

I agree with you in your assessment of what is happening regards the GMO problems that are spreading across the world, but we must also look at from where they originated and what the most important consideration was for them to be developed. Was it concern for the well being of the global populous? I don't think so. Was it opportunism with a gigantic profit to be had in the long term?. I'm sure so.

We've been genetically modifying organisms since the dawn of agriculture, with hybridization and crosses. Now science has sped the process up. The point is to help make plants/etc more pest and drought resistant, and boost productivity for our ever expanding population. I know quite a few geneticists personally, and their aims are very noble. Take some serious science and biology, biochemistry, and genetics classes when you're older and it will make more sense to you.

It might pay to do a little research into the Monsanto Corporation and then perhaps it will become evident that there is little concern for the people of the world but only concern about profits.. I have no doubt that there are serious and dedicated geneticists working on many things that will help humanity, but genetically modified food has not been adequately tested and there are many serious problems developing.. Monsanto doesn't care a bit about that, however.

Thank you for the info on GMO's. I had these really LARGE strawberries and thought they were GM'd. ew! I hate them anyway. The gvt cannot force us to eat that poison. Americans will take to the streets - and we are gun owners. They are also trying to regulate vit. supplements, the auto industry, banks, healthcare, etc. Omg! We have to vote them out; you're too young. I buy my food from an organic supermarket and have to drive 40 mins. to get there, but I'm worth it.

That was great Lalita. My parent are also concern about GMO food and we try to not buy anything that look like it was grown with the GMO seeds. I think it is crazy that some companies are allowed to sell products that are harmful to the people.. Only a little pig flu and the whole world is frightened and the government starts going bananas.
