@TheSteamtramman the instrument Janette is playing is an auto harp, they were invented i think in the early 1900's if i'm not mistaken so a fairly new instrument comparitively
Why do people have to post profanity. Didn't your parents teach you better? THis is wonderful music. Simple, Haunting and wonderful. Thanks for posting
maybelle was a treasure. i could not believe the disrespect the persons did by not sitting in there seates. no wonder . the example is why is why the niggas acts the way the do
Yes, this is a wonderful post of Janette her brother Joe, her son Dale and his friend Oscar.
So sad that Janette and Joe have now passed to be with their Dad A.P. Carter. Also so sad to note that a "musical coup" for control of the hallowed facility in which this performance is recorded, The CARTER FOLD, in Hiltons, VA. has been exercised by NON-CARTER family members and Dale Jett, seen here, grandson of A.P. is no longer welcome to perform these wonderful songs of his family in this place! cam
Janette + Joe Care were some of the great people! They both kept mountain music alive like Janette promised her dying dad A.P. in 1960. thank God for them+their music!
Thank god for these people playing music. They have kept our music alive in the Mouintains. This is our culture, a mixture of all our early settlers from Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, France, Afica, Native Indian, etc. The Mts was the 1st melting pot of the US, and music mixed in the hollers. Thank god for Jenette and Joe Carter for seeing a need for the survival of the old music. This is who we are, the music is us.
Thank you for posting this piece of what is truly our American History and Heritage! Janette and Joe Carter are truly American Treasures and our loss is Heaven's gain! Still, they are sorley missed by all.
Wonderful, although I'm not religious, it's the sound they make that I love & historically we owe so much to The Carter Family, for much of the music we listen to today, which was influenced by The Carter Family's music, which was broadcast into the US in the early days of radio.
Truly a nice video!

Please, what is the correct name for Janette's instrument? I do not think we have it in the United Kingdom.

Carters music will never die, not ever, even after we are gone to be with them.
It will live for all time and eternity.
Satan, you have lost. Deal with it.
God has won, for eternity.
