  • KOVR used to be located in Stockton, so that's why it was labeled with Stockton first.

Ironically, 13 on TV STILL labels it's self with Stockton first, but on their website, it's Sacramento first.

  • Miner Avenue between Hunter and San Joaquin Streets. The building is now part of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The old KOVR building that fronted Arden Way in Sacramento is also now auto-related- it's a Maaco.

  • @manhizzy Correct. 225 E. Miner Avenue, to be exact. 1954-1991. KOVR's Sacramento address was 1216 Arden before they moved to the West Sac facility they now occupy on Kovr Drive.

  • @southparkgtaca Ironic, maybe, but KOVR identifies its TV signal as "Stockton/Sacramento" because it's a STOCKTON TV station (licensed to Stockton, always has been; therefore "Stockton" HAS to come first) trying to identify with the Sacramento market. Would probably be the same if it were a Yuba City station, or a Placerville station. However, on the WEBSITE, they can do whatever they want: they're not bound by FCC Rules & Regs.

  • What was "Heart and Soul"?

  • A musical special with Cleo Laine and Ray Charles- I'm guessing it was a syndicated rerun used to fill in the time between the football game and the news. Some of that show is on the rest of the tape, I might put up a couple songs from it later.

  • Not an ABC or CBS special?

  • Yeah, they might wanna change that!

  • Yes, Jack, Matthew is referring to the same logo you are. The one I'm referring to was used from 1980-1987.

  • To see the 1980-87 KOVR logo, type "KOVR Steve Somers" in the search field of YouTube.

  • Hey, you got any more short excertps from KOVR like this? I'm trying to find the intro they'd play for the mid-day movie. But anything else would be great. thanks dood

  • Yes the ABC days.

  • Boy, what an ugly logo.

  • I am with ya!

  • A few months after this their logo would change into something that can only be described as geometric shapes put together to form the number 13, in bright yellow. It was the most distinct logo in Sacramento at the time.

P.S., if I'm not mistaken Stormin' Norman was on Channel 13 in these days.

  • I remember that logo, that one was 10X much better than this one on the video!

  • The logo in the video kind of like the 80s-90s KTLA logo.

  • If the logo is the one I'm thinking of (golden 13 with a blue KOVR under it), it's still featured on the building housing the KOVR studios.

  • No, that's not it. I know that logo, it came much, much later. I have a video of the logo I'm referring to, once I figure out how to upload video on here I will upload it.
