  • You don't really need to take the ram cover off ;]. Just to let u know

  • Where is best place to get a replacement keyboard for a HP dv6 This keyboard has special function keys on the left hand side. It has number across the top and no number pard on the right hand side. It's a spill proof design that failed last night with a spill that seems to make a few keys not function. thanks for any help

  • @Rongy3710 Amazon.

  • Thanks, very helpful.

  • Great video, thank you, but music sucks !

  • lol, buddy im not a computer expert >.<

  • awesome video man thanks ALOT this helped me put my buddys computer back together

  • i respect you, thanks

  • One of my keys doesn't work or I get the same letter 4 times. Would taking it apart allow me to clean it effectively? Thanks!

  • its a peace of cake,

i cant believe geek squad charges 60 bucks for it...thats messed up

  • I'm not sure if it's a good thing they're using THAT laptop as the example...that's my laptop. Does that mean my laptop keyboard will be breaking soon? My m key is already fucking up.... :(

  • thank you.

  • Hi, will this keyboard be interchangeable with a HP G6000 laptop.

  • Good video: HORRIBLE AUDIO!!

  • thank you, great job!!!

    works wonderful

  • thank you, great job!!!

  • i saved $80 dollar

  • thank you so much for showing how to replace the keyboard, especially the close up part of removing the keyboard ribbon or connector.

  • Do you recommend to use compressed air to clean the cpu fan???

  • @JMjhonmarJM yes. compressed air is the best way to clean the fan.

  • Thank you! But...@ 2:22 to 2:26 , did you forget to put in that screw just above the final keyboard screw? Reason I ask is because I followed this video step by step, pausing along the way, to take it out, and when I did the same to put it back in, I had an extra screw (i had placed them in formation as to how they came out) and had to stop and figure out where that extra screw came from before putting in the battery compartment screws that you jumped to right after the keyboard screw.

  • @herelookatthis this screw is the screw to fix the keyboard, there is a keyboard symbol there.

  • Great video, did it as almost as quick as you. Gotta be careful of the locking clips on

the strap. I pushed a little too hard and broke both. Hmmm. Put some tape on strap to hold it in. Hope that works and heat doesn't effect it. Thanks for the great video. daveK

  • @davekrech yes you really need to be carefully. but you are not the only one, that happend. :)

  • @sparepartworld : Does this work the same for the HP 6720s. Because it types 2 characters while only pressing 1 button.

  • THANK YOU

I successfully replaced keyboard of my HP DV6000 with your help.

    thank you again.

  • I totally think I can do this. Thanks!

  • hey im just wondering if there is any keyboard replacement for this laptop that lights up,so it would easy to use at night.?

  • In my case, with the dv6, which I think is just a newer model on the DV6000 series. I used to have the DV6000, too... Anyway, the keyboard with the dv6 has some screw holes in it, and using that as a template shows which screws are actually necessary to take out as opposed to taking them all out, like I did. Also, all of the screws concerned with the keyboard have a little keyboard picture engraved next to them.

Anyway, It was my first time doing anything even close to this and it was easy.

  • Sophie,

You said in your other post that there are some thing(s) connected to the speaker panel that go under the power button. That may be all of the wires necessary for the speakers and any lights, etc., in the panel. They all are more than likely channeled to one location.

In any case, you don't need to bother removing the panel completely, just elevating it out of the way to get the keyboard up, which on this model doesn't seem to be screwed down.

  • @88ViCaRiOuS88 ahh okay :D thankss! the keyboard arrived a day after i posted that comment :D iv replaced the keyboard :) i forgot to get 2 screws out to make the key board come out fully (: all done now :D haha :D thankyou soooo much!! :D

    - Sophie :D

  • @SophiezAwsome

Oh, well great! I kept trying to reply last night, but it didn't seem to be working, so I just gave up for the time being. I guess one of them got through. Anyway, we are proof of how easy it is to do this! I couldn't find any videos or instructions out there for my dv6 laptop, so I just used this as a reference and started fooling around and things came together, or apart, rather. In hindsight, I found a pretty easy way to do it all over...

  • I found a great replacement keyboard on Amazon for ~$15. It didn't come with instructions, which I was aware of beforehand thanks to a customer review, so I used Google to come across this video which is BETTER than an instruction manual. Great work! Much appreciated!

  • @88ViCaRiOuS88 hey :) im gonna have to do the same :) iv orderd one off amazon, and im really relying on this vid to help me replace my keyboard :) it should be arriving on the 2nd November :) Just so i can get some idea of what i need to do before i do the actual thing, i took some of the screws out of the battery and managed to take the speaker pannel up, but i noticed theres something(s) connected to it that go under the power button :S did you have the same?? i do have the same laptop

  • @88ViCaRiOuS88 but it seems like this one dosent have any wires or anything under neath the speaker pannel :S should i be conserned about this? or am i worrying over nothing?? :S thankyou :)

    - sophie :)

  • @SophiezAwsome

My laptop was actually a dv6 model, which I think was just the next generation of the dv6000 seen in this video. I managed to figure out how to replace the keyboard on that pretty easily, and I'm considering making my own "do-it-yourself" video for that model.

Anyhow, in this case, once you pop the speaker panel, there are more than likely wires connecting the the speakers, and/or any lights or buttons on that panel. They might all be merged into one channel, though...

  • @88ViCaRiOuS88 ohhh okay :D thats a really good idea :) as there arnet many vids on how to do it :) this was the only one :)but it was still very helpfull!! :D turns out, i forgot to take out 2 screws to make the keyboard fully come out (: but i worked it out, and replaced it now :D the keyboard arrived a day after i posted that comment :D thankyouu!! :D p.s please post that vid!! :) i know it wil help loads of people, it looks rather complicated, but in reality, its not :D thankyouu!! :D

  • The instructions were right on... I appreciate the assistance so much. The hardest part was understanding pushing the tabs ahead on each side of the cable. Mine were black, not white. Thanks so much..

  • thank you very much..... now my keyboard is working very nicely......

  • i cant get the speaker gril to snap back in to place on either end. it snaps in the middle ok. but the ends are sticking up. and they wont push down. ????

  • Do you know how to take the keyboard out of a Advent Roma 2000 I've taken all the screws out, but it won't budge.

  • thanks a million, i have installed my keyboard

  • THANK YOU!!! :D

  • my model number is dv6 45ee, my laptop has caught up a lot of dust and the keyboard is falling apart, please tell me if its keyboard can also be taken out like that and cleaned by me, as this is my first laptop and i dont want to damage it, my hands are not straight and aren't able to handle small tasks like screwing and things like that, please tell me if i should attempt at cleaning my laptop's keyboard, as taking it to a shop will definitely spoil it so i cant get it serviced here

  • He removed the RAM cover, because he had 1 more keyboard screw under the cover. He removed the 3 screws from the battery compartment because those were holding the silver plastic cover (quickplay buttons) above the keyboard.Watch the video again,he's very good.

  • Hey, is there a way that you can change the lights that is on the panel? Some of my lights are dead, meaning that they don't light up anymore. Also, can you change the lights on the bottom too? Where it shows the power light, charge light, and Hard drive light? Please answer ASAP. Thanks

  • It's possible, but nothing for soldering amateurs! It isn't easy! First you need the right LED's and a good soldering rod and then there is the problem that you can damage the mainboard! And all because the LED's not working...

I personal wouldn't care, better a few damaged LED's as a damaged mainboard.

  • Oh okay. Well yea, I figured might as well just leave it alone instead.

    Do you guys repair laptops?

  • yes, of course! that's our job! we sell laptop spareparts and we repair them, too.
