A trick that'll also work, and keep them from just eating the treats and leaving the present is to buy the dog toy a few days before Christmas, and then to put it in the bag of dog food so it absorbs some of the smell. That way they don't just eat the treats and take off -- they take the toy, for once :D Though, thankfully they don't usually eat it.
