try using catfish, cut the head off..i know it sounds crazy but it works unbelievable, the bigger, the better..put it on a 7/0 circle hook, hook it through the top..when the tarpon picks it up, let him eat it, do a 3 count, then point your rod at the fish and reel fast

Looks like a GIANT herring.... have any luck with softies on these puppies? We use hard and soft shell crabs out near Bridge City, Tx and do pretty good. Do you use macks and small herrings? Thanks

do you think you could make an instructional video on how you rig up and use for tarpon and how you can hook one so quickly. I fish boca grande every June but it always seems hard to catch tarpon later in the summer.

Tarpon are very finicky and I by no means have the answers. Sometimes we don't hook any.

it might also be your action of the artificial when i was down in florida last year i had a couple hits from tarpon on top water lures try fishing them fast with big splashes that would probably excite the fish a lot more if not try to find yourself some live bait from the tackle store that sells bait tarpon will eat

oh man im a kid but i wish i could go fishing like that fishing is my passion but where i am we get bass i once caught a 14 inch large mouth it was the happiest day of my life but if i was thee ive always wanted to catch a tarpon
