  • I love the Poldark series so much when it first was shown here in Canada,Ross Poldark was such a dark and brooding man,but at the same time such a sexy man,I fell in love with him.I read all of the books,in fact I read them 3 times losing myself in them everytime.

  • Robin Ellis has a blog now about cooking & life in rural France: robin-ellis(dot)net and also a Facebook page.

  • I agree with gegan4. But you can see entire episodes of Poldark now on Netflix. I was stunned. Didn't think it was popular enough with the majority to warrant being on Netflix - but there it is. This series has been a long cherished fave of mine.

  • Damn'

Poldark, very good TV serie and has been my nickname on the hi-school... What a memories, love it

  • robin ellis, yum!

  • love it !!!!!!!!!!

  • Ohh Robin ellis in poldark. more dashing than darcy any day :D

  • Ain't that the truth, he brightened up our Sunday evenings, (if my memory' s correct) & we all fell in love with Ross...sigh...happy days, which we can also relive on the 'Yesterday' channel (formerly History channel) each weekday at 4pm.

  • My mother tried to watch every episode of Poldark that came on tv in 1976-1979. She really liked this miniseries. She has passed away. Thank you BBC.

  • Sorry for your loss. She obviously had impeccable taste. I loved this series when I was but a wee boy. I even have the book.

  • Oh my God, I was so in love when a was a girl ...He was the best

  • I was 15 when this show made it to America on PBS. I fell in love with Angharad Rees. She definitely activated my Y chromosome and sent my hormones into a overdrive. I wanted to fly to England and marry her.

  • One of the all-time very best miniseries; my favorite next to the 1983 version of "Jane Eyre" with yummy Timothy Dalton, and of course, "The Jewel in the Crown." Amazing that this version of Poldark has not yet been put on DVD. We can only hope. If you look at the reviews of it at IMDB, there are so many raves about it.

  • It has been. Just type Poldark DVD in any search engine. I used to watch it in the 1970's along with The Onedin Line.

  • It's on DVD. I've got both series. Try Amazon.

  • Thanks for the tip. I have checked Amazon and elsewhere a few times in the past...the only DVD's available are in Region 2, non-USA format, though today they list a DVD coming out in March, that I assume will be playable on standard USA DVD players.

  • Thank you for posting this, I loved this series when I was a young girl.

It was one of the last series imported from the UK to Italy (together with "Brideshead Revisited" and "The Life of Shakespeare".

I was so sad when Italian television stopped buying British programmes, in the early 80's.

    Ciao!

  • lol my nan had the video collection ofthe whole thing when i was younger and i got completely addicted i never finished watching it though XO

  • When I watched the series as a teenager, I had to fight two older brothers, because they rather watched sports.... My mother looked for pictures in the TV guide, so she could surprise me with them, because she knew howmuch I loved the series.... These memories are so special to me, they will stay with me forever....

    A remake? NEVER!!!

  • Poldark rocks! Love this series. Any character who can break someone out of the Bastille is tops in my book!

  • how about a fight scene montage between ross and george warleggan? I'd love to see one of those!

  • I loved this when it aired on public television in the 80's in the states. I particularly remember the theme song music and I have always wanted to hear it again. Anyone know where I might give it a listen on the Web?

    Lisa

  • BBC4 tonight! The Cult of Sunday, the 1st ep and a documentary.

Mind you, they revived Poldark on ITV in the 90s and it didnt half upset the fans...

  • One of the best series ever produced by BBC. wish someone would have the imagination to have a re run. Excellent.

  • I think its about time they actually remade it. Its over thirty years since it was made and theBBC acknowledge it is one of their best sellers on video. They remake others all the time! I have to say i disagreed with some of the changes they made to the original series and now its time to do it again and try to do the first book especially better justice!

  • thank you,i thought i would never see poldark again when the series ended.you brought alot of good memories, also one of the best masterpiece theater series!

  • Yes that's how it began...very good cast. They stopped it in a silly way, with the gate open for a contunuation.

I hope they gonna make the 3rd series with Robin one day, please BBC cast it with Robin Ellis he's the best and even now with his lovely grey hair, I've got inspiration enough for fresh scripts, so with all respect for Winston Graham his good writing, I can do it too but with a better end, his last novels are never filmed, pity.

  • great, thank you so much - never cancel this - you and youtube bring back beautiful memories.

  • judithhr, gladly!

  • Thanks for posting! And if you put up some more, add some Demelza.

  • thanks for your comment, i thought you tube could do with some poldark!

  • Wow~this was my absolute favorite Masterpiece Theatre series of all time. I just put it on the u tube search as a lark, and wow, it was here!!

    Hey, thanks!!

  • same here!!!!
