Use 1:100 (1%) two stroke oil in your tank to prevent tank and engine corrosion if you use the modern aggressive fuel that contain 5-10% methanol (not good for the old engine and fuel system materials!)

I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
yeah shes great you should just sell everything, your house, your wife, your kids (only joking about wife, not about kids) and restore it with the money you get :)
nice rumble from the rear, not so great a rattle from the front, hardly any smoke though so a quick recon of heads and it will be all good, shame about the rust, but if you put some effort and mondo(money)into it,it could be wanking material ; )
You would get a bag of sand under the scrappage scheme for the old girl, why not crush her and get a shiny panda or them kias are quite nice and nippy
My old mate had a v6 Capri silver with black trim very nice car, till it was smashed by his brother 15 years ago now its a shame nice old school cars.
I remember in Ireland we used to ID British cars based on the last letter signifying the year, which if memory serves, would make this 'J' reg a 1971...is that correct?
id like to show you my MK1 but dont know how to post a link, so if you type mk1 capri bridlington in to youtube it should appear, its a daytona yellow 1600xl. cheers. tony
wow thats a bodywork disastar me n ma dad restored a 3100 v6 mk1 1973 capri a few years ago i remeber him avin it i loved it damn i miss it urs sounds gd i want ma dads back now
You're about right there, the engine is great but the bodywork and chasis has got too rusty so it is no longer viable to restore. I have just sold the engine so that will live on in another Capri.
@theborglord you right that a dam shame i could have found someone to pick up the body alone for a good amount of money....hope he saved the drivetrain/ and complete front brige/suspension..e.t.c i have been looking for one to restore for like 10years

I owned a 1972 3000E manual in the same colour blude about 18 years ago, it went well with >100000 miles on the clock. Regret ever selling it.
I can asure you it sounds a lot more noisy in a confined space like a garage!
