  • I found and rebuilt an old piston pump with leather scraps. They are a lot better than centrifugal in my opinion when it comes to efficiency. As for galvanized I just cut and thread a pipe and union for repairs. I save and regalvanize old pipe and fittings to reuse later.

  • hey, what model Kubta is that? thanks! and good to see that you got her fixed!

  • @tractorboy8420 i am not sure i dont like kubota i know its an L model and its 48 HP but i never looked at the number it just showed up on the farm after my uncle was killed and i only use it to dig holes.its a noisy little thing.

  • @onelonleyfarmer oh, i see, sorry about your Uncle.... that sucks, but thanks for the commnt nonethelss

  • man, i wish i could spend 1 day on your farm and just enjoy all the neat machinery that cost an arm and a leg i'm sure. did u have to rent the back hoe?

  • @rrossmanith no its ours it was my uncles but he was killed in a plane crash 8 years ago so its on the farm now.

  • that happend at my great granparents farm a few years ago, in january. luckily the running water kept the ground from freezing so it wasnt bad to dig up and cap off the pipe.

  • @1944johndeerel always in the fall and spring this happens and sometimes in a very dry summer. the ground shifts a little and the leaks spring up.

  • @onelonleyfarmer in my great granparents case it was an 80+ year old iron pipe that had finally rusted through. there system had no filters as they had a system of pipes that collected water from a natural spring at the base of the field and then the old piston pump in a small shed in the field pumped the spring water about 3/4 of a mile up the hill accross the field to just infront of the cowbarn where it also teed off to the house. old system but it worked well.

  • @1944johndeerel thats about how old this one is it had a piston pump in it to.it filled an old steel drum that was in the basement it was heavy my grandfather forgot to shut the pump off and the tank exploded heaving the floor in the kitchen and destroying the table and other stuff that was in that room.

  • @onelonleyfarmer about 3 years before the pipe burst one of my uncles replaced the old myers piston pump with a more modern jet pump. that jet pump had nothing on the old myers piston pump. the piston pump was alot better at pushing the water up the hill than the jet pump. as far as i know the old myers pump only needed new leathers i belive. it wasnt the original pump but it was likely 50 + years old. i like those old piston pumps they just keep going for so many years.

  • Great job Wesley

  • @Buckshot3715 thank you

  • I'm glad you uploaded this. It shows that farming is not the Neverland Ranch like some think it is.

    Great video, thanks.

  • @jasonmushersee neverland ha ha could you see micheal jackson digging this up.that was funny thanks for the smile.

  • Did you figure out what caused the leak or did the backhoe hide the evidence?

    Another good post

  • @19overlord64 my great grandfather put that pipe in the ground in the 30's so i think its just getting old and it rusted through i fix about on or two a year. i have replaced most of it but this one is under cement so its not going to be easy to replace.

  • cool cant wait to see that 5020 dozer again

  • @farmallfreak101 its coming soon

  • good Video ^^

  • @FelixDeere thank you
