  • Good to see the band haven't aged a bit ( just like me) since I saw them regularly in '77 at the Rose and Crown in Etruria. Clive's voice is as good, and the band are as tight as ever. One of the best sonwriters around, and never understood why they never made it big. Heard Teddy Thompson on the radio recently, a latterday Clive Gregson if ever I heard one!

  • Four dislikes!!! Have people got their ears painted on? Great songs from a truly great songwriter - watch and learn folks!

  • @smilingjeff How anyone can dislike this ?

  • Any Trouble today and yesterday...Clive Gregson...what a talent!!!

  • Saw him and Christine Collister circa 1984/5 with Richard Thompson at Stache;s and Little Bros. in Columbus. Any one know if there is a video out there for Open Fire, one of my faves by Any Trouble?

  • great job. Geat voice. I've liked these guys since Second Choice in the 80's. Can't understand why they weren't bigger.

  • I've only seen CG live once. On stage at school getting all "Cat Stevensy" singing Morning Has Broken. Same school spawned Mick Hucknall...s'pose there has to be a down side !

  • I was looking for "Girls are always Right" and I came across this song, never having heard it before. Amazing, Clive sounds just as he did 25 years ago. This makes getting older easier. My favorite find of 2008.

  • Maybe the only time in my life I ever did this... Sometime back in about 1981 I saw AT on MTV doing "Second Choice). Turned of the TV, went to the only record store in town that had good imports, brought the record home.

It's been a great ride Clive. SC, To Be A King, Wheels In Motion, When My Ship Comes In...

Thanks for everything! (PS. My sons and I still listen to "Nice Girls.")

  • Great, you all look like headmasters.

  • Any Trouble, Clive solo or with Collister - all are phenomenal ! All Any Trouble fans, run, don't walk, to pick up this new CD and Clive's "I Love This Town" 1996 CD. I promise, no disappointments. Been a fan from the 80's and have all AT on vinyl, cassette or CD. Great band! Please post more videos !

  • I've got a live gig of Any Trouble (on tape!) from about '81.... if you'd like a copy - get in touch.

  • Yes, yes, yes - I would love a copy ! What do you need from me ?

  • I guess it must have been over 5 months ago since I last searched for Any Trouble (as I regularly have since first using YouTube)... hoping. I don't suppose the buying public will have wised up any but best of luck. This is more than good, but I'm biased and am known for backing the wrong horse (although not IMHO). I loved their (your) stuff way back (Second Choice, Playing Bogart, Nice Girls, Girls Are Always Right, Yesterday's Love). Long may it and the revival last.

  • I'm almost 40 yrs old and just heard ANY TROUBLE for the first time and love them. The song was SECOND CHOICE. And this song is great too. I hope it brings you guys more into the limelight again! Good luck!!!

  • I have been a fan of Any Trouble since I don't know when, and I love this song. I especially like the bit where it says "Nobody could buy or sell That Sound". My lovely, Lancashire Mum and Dad say that something can't be bought or sold as a way of expressing that the particular something is very, very, very special. Hearing Clive use that phrase is also special as we share that same Mum and Dad, Love you, Big Bro!!!

  • Yay...I saw Any Trouble at Maidstone Art College.

Well..my band supported them..and The Photos.

    This is a great song.

  • Was anyone else at the Jazz Cafe? For my money the gig of the year! Too many hits for me to remember - does anyone have the set list?

  • I've followed Clive Gregson for over 20 years now, and the guy and is massively underrated, perhaps one day he will get the recognition he fully deserves.

  • Here, here!

  • How did this band not "make it"? The songs listed before, plus "Open Fire" cover of Springsteen's "Growin' Up" and a ton of others. I've always said this was one of the most underrated 80's bands. "Second Choice" had all the makings of a great radio pop tune... catchy guitar, recognizable lyrics, etc.

  • Can we have "where are all the nice girls" next please

  • Nice 12 string you've got there Clive and of course the song's great you've played it here in Paris often enough. Video is good too but how come you keep changing from a shirt to a T shirt? You showing off your extensive wardrobe? No matter what you'll be wearing I'm sorry I'll miss you reunion at the Jazz café.

  • Great to have them back - Clive is such a great singer and songwriter. I remember buying 'Where are all the Nice Girls' back in 1979 from 'Cruisin', a great (now gone) independent record shop in John Street Bath. Looking forward to the reunion gigs. Yes - Second Choice is great but also Playing Bogart.

  • Ah, wonderful to have the guys back. And that is such a catchy chord sequence - everywhere I go I hear that sound - to bloody true!

  • What a pretty song, and the lead singer has a wonderful voice. I'm not familiar with this band, when were they big, and what were their hits?

  • Hi,

They did not really have any hits as far as I can remember.. But I would recommend buying their greatest hits..on Stiff records..

Look out for songs..where are all the nice girls ?

Trouble with love..Touch and Go etc etc

If you like this song..You must listen to the rest.

You are right about Clive Gregson's voice..truly wonderful..

I hope you take up my recommendation..Unfortunately all of my Any Trouble songs are on Vinyl.

    I hope you enjoy

    David

  • Hi David,

Thank you for replying. Yes, I will look into more of their music. I don't know if you are British, I'm a New Yorker, and I know about Stiff because I was a big Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe fan as a kid, and several years ago a friend got me the Stiff Records box set as a gift, which is so full of wonderful songs. I was poking around youtube for old stuff, and ran into this video.

    Best wishes!

    Sue

  • David

Baby Now That I've Found You and Touch and Go were almost hits! - certainly got some radio play at the time. Clive's voice and his writing are as good as ever.

    Cheers

    Jim

  • Jim,

You are totally right they were nearly hits.

What a shame they where not.

Touch and Go was my song to make babies to in the 80's..Although as I only have one, It didnt work to well.

Another great track is Dimming of the day..a beautiful ballad..not to make love to..to contemplate life to.

    Take care

    David

  • I think they're best song is one from the 80's called "Second Choice". If you like this you'll really like it.

  • Yes, I missed these guys a lot! We've all grown a bit older, right ;-)

  • About time..I cannot explain how much Joy this band has given me over the years. This track is just another quality song from this amazing band.

I cant wait to see you on your upcoming tour.

  • Just what we've all been waiting for...excellent!

  • Shot at the first comeback gig - July 30, 2007!

  • Stiff Rools!

  • Go Clive, Go! You rock, you guys are awesome, you're terribly good...etc.etc.
