  • Me: What's your favorite movie?

    Person: Never Say Never

Me: NEVER SAY NEVER!? FUCK THAT SHIT!!! BLUE VELVET!!!!!!

  • Extremely dark but fantastic. Not for everyone.

  • FUCKIN' RIP FRANK FUCK, FUCK YOU WERE TOO FUCKIN' FUCK FOR THIS FUCK FUCKIN WORLD FUCK FUCK.

  • This is a masterpiece.

  • 240p? come on

  • Im trying to find art in lynch but i just dont get the fucking shitty waste of time movies he makes ... If you call art making up your own meaning in what you see that makes no sense well i just took a shit on a dinky car

  • Nice movie, as usual very dark by Lynch. Black Velvet.

  • A masterpiece. One of Lynch's best.

  • This looks like shit.

  • i dont like this movie :D

  • wierd white folks

  • Thanks for posting this. Lynch classic.

I made my own edit of Lynch's "Rabbits" film.

See what you think (click my name)

  • Love that trailer...you have no idea what you're REALLY going to see. Just some vague dialogue and imagery thrown together.

  • Great movie

  • makes ya think

  • Amazing movie!!!! but its actually a little bit funne the one is crazyer than the other ahahaha :) but somewhere it is like that

    still amazing movie!!!!

  • Amazing movie!!!!

  • Possibly the most disturbing yet sexy movie I've seen in a long time.

  • someone said Pleasantville was better than this

  • amazing film...literally insane. Hopper is just an a completely different level in this film.

Lynch is such an influence in every way.

  • The first time I saw this was when it was playing at 2:00 am on a Tuesday on Turner Classic Movies, I was already paranoid from being overtired, holy shit, it blew my mind

  • She wore blueeeeeeee VELVET!

  • What is the plot of this movie?

  • @folladordeprostis RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE

  • @folladordeprostis plot, no plot as such- not a lot really happens, a boy gets in too deep and pays the price- that's about it as far as 'plot' is concerned

but many see the film as a modern interpretation of the Oedipal complex

which transcends the idea of a 'plot'

  • @electriktricks

That last line may very well be the most pretentious thing written on youtube.

    Congratulations.

  • @sliver321123 people use the word pretentious too much...people use it just because they cant take in what is being said, i bet anybody who fully understands the Oedipal complex wouldent find it a 'pretentious' sentence

  • @snakevillefilms

You do realise how absolutely "pretentious" you sound, don't you? How often do you hear people use the word? Maybe you're the common link. Honestly I cannot think of one person who said "pretentious" in the last week where I could hear them.

You're defending someone who really said nothing, but only gives the impression that he said "a lot". And if you think the Oedipal complex is so unfathomable that only a select few can "fully understand it" then I pity you.

  • @sliver321123 no not at all...i did not state anywhere that only a select few can understand it...but anybody who reads up on it can understand it...just like a movie, messages may be there, if you understand it because of knowledge that you have researched in the past....fair enough, if you dont understand it because it contains elements that you do not understand, too many people just say "this is pretentious" just because they dont personally understand what is going on

  • @snakevillefilms

The second half of your comment implied that there are those that cannot understand the complex fully, myself apparently included.

In any case, I understand it, and that guy's comment is still sounding exceptionally pretentious to me.

  • @sliver321123 I doubt you actually understand what he meant.

  • @MagnetsFucking

What he meant and how he said it are two different things.

He tried to say that the way the film was written allows it to exist in an organizational structure outside the normal boundaries of a "plot".

What he actually said was, "Hey look everybody, I think I'm smart, please agree that I am so that I can sleep at night. I have very little experience actually speaking intelligently, so ignore my inane bullshit and just say 'omg u r so right' "

    Magnet fucking. Nice.

  • Very strange but brilliant film

  • I'm defiantly favoriting this trailer. I might wanna check this movie out.

I will when to it, it does look great.

  • Have you read that book Aztec Love Song? The guy who wrote it said he was influenced by this -- more suburban sex 'n' violence!

  • Wonderfully offbeat film that is defiantly different from the mainstream.

  • Don't toast to my health, toast to my fuck!

  • I am the ultimate movie fanatic freak. I love movies. I crave movies. I am madly in love with movies. And I must say that this has to be THE most disturbing piece of cinema I have ever seen in my life. I mean, the scenes, story, and subject matter, all truly caught me off guard. I was in complete and utter shock and awe by the end of the movie. David Lynch gave us an honest and intense look at the corruption, wickedness and degradation that occurs in our world everyday.

  • Dennis Hopper, Kyle and Lynch are the best. I hope Lynch make a new scary movie with kyle

  • who does this song?

  • @AriarchRS Bobby vinton does this song.

  • @AriarchRS Bobby Vinton :)

  • dennis hopper is one scary sob in this shit. RIP

  • check out Dennis Hopper in Mad Dog Morgan. RIP

  • Dennis Hopper's golden moment in my opinion!

  • jizz in my pants

  • @manok750i oh yea baby absolutely!!!

  • "Now it's dark." - Frank Booth

Thanks for the great memories Dennis... RIP.

  • RIP Dennis Hopper!

  • RIP Dennis Hopper :(

  • You know, David Lynch is da fucking MAN

  • this movie left a marc in my mind the best movie i ever seen. and i still can see blue velvet..........

  • I want to see this SO bad!

  • @intwinpeaks rent it and then come back and tell the class what you thought ;)

  • I remember the theatre audience groaning at the corny cliches, and laughing uproariously at the unintentional humor in this cruddy film. It's the self-proclaimed 'counter culture' and 'independent thinking' trendoid weirdos that love this and Lynch's other work. It was painful to watch but seeing the fandom revel in this is definitely worthwhile.

  • @12stringsforme

The unintentional humor and corny cliches are devices thay Lynch uses to create surrealist films. It may not be your cup of tea, 12, but it works like hell.

  • It's a strange world, isn't it?

  • Bloody Hell! Saw this in 87 or 88,good film.

  • One suave f*cker!

  • Very Derrida-ish...

  • HELLO iM KYLE

  • i'll fuck anything that moves!

    haha

  • Great song, great movie. :)

  • Lost Highway is super crazy! I liked it alot by the end my mind hurt from trying to put the plot into context. Afterwards I watched Mulholland Dr. and I was able to follow that one way easier and had it figured out within minutes after watching it

  • haha i understood lost highway more but mullhold was the first lynch i ever saw. i dont think im ready for inland empire though =D

  • What's with the red curtains in every Lynch production? If you watch every movie & Twin Peaks-all have scenes w/ red curtains. It's totally cool, but what's the meaning?

  • David Lynch suggested in "Cathing the big fish" that red curtains are a symbol of dream.

Blue Velvet is one of the more straight story, but is also still fascinating. I love Kyle.

  • you've brought up a good point! hidden, secret? or to paraphrase Jeffrey Beaumont in the film "I'm seeing something that was always hidden" then again red curtains could have many esoteric meanings? I wonder???wonder....??????????? and further down the rabbit hole I shall roam, but that's just one rabbit hole out of how many?????????????????

  • @jcross21 david lynch said "The afterlife/limbo of 'Twin Peaks'; in 'Lost Highway the camera moves over red curtains like a spaceship exploring a strange planet. Immediate response. 'Curtains are both hiding and revealing. Sometimes it's so beautiful that they're hiding, it gets your imagination going. But in the theatre, when the curtains open, you have this fantastic euphoria, that you're going to see something new, something will be revealed."

  • @jcross21 that just depends...on the way that You see them.

  • @jcross21 vaginas?

  • @jcross21 I don't see red curtains in Eraserhead or The Elephant Man. They're Black.

  • this movies about mk ultra. the lady is like a mind control sex slave and frank is like the c.i.a. master. stuff like this really happened in real life

  • Agent Cooper!

  • I remember watching this flick and thinking, "Where have I seen this before?!!" Then a couple of nights ago, I was googling for Spider-Man info and stuff (I'm a big fan), when I came across this new site, The Comics Decoder. Well, lo and behold, according to an essay by its main cheese, poet RW Watkins, Blue Velvet could very well have been based on the early Spidey comics! He even compares scenes from the movie alongside panels from the comics. Eye-opening stuff! Google for it. Freaky shit!

  • Insightful!

  • According to research by psychologists at UC Santa Barbara and the University of British Columbia, exposure to the surrealism in, say, Kafkas The Country Doctor or Lynchs Blue Velvet enhances the cognitive mechanisms that oversee implicit learning functions. The researchers findings appear in an article published in the September issue of the journal Psychological Science.

  • what are you talking about?!

  • @intercitty I couldn't find this article, can you kindly state what year it was published??

  • @TheLonghairraven sure thing, read the last sentance.. or you can follow this link.

tiny(dot)cc/huk7n replace (dot) with a period

  • @intercitty sweet

  • @intercitty i'd love to read the article, do you by any chance still know the details of the article?

  • roger ebert hates every david lynch film... goes to show that his reviews dont mean shit.. not in my books, i love how he is considered as being the best critic, its like telling someone they have a worse personal opinion that someone else

  • He actually likes Mulholland Drive.

  • @AgentAJD lol, i seen ebert reviewing blue velvet and he said "hes the man who directed eraserhead and dune and hes obviously a talented director" and he gave dune a terrible review.. havent seen it but i assume ebert is probably wrong.. just like he is about blue velvet

  • He liked The Straight Story, Mulholland Dr., and INLAND EMPIRE.

  • lol, i found Lost Highway very complicated and hard to follow. so many twists and turns-- meaningful ones that worked, of course

  • This movie is one you may need to watch a second time to drink in the madness that exists not on the outer fringe of our society-but to realize how close it actually mirrors our daily lives.

  • @blackroses696

It is easier to follow than some of his other stuff.

  • is this lynch's movie understandable enough or it is difficult like mulholland drive?

  • is one of his easier to understand movies

  • MUCH easier than Mulholland Drive. It's weird, but the plot is more linear.

  • if you think Mulholland Drive is difficult, you should watch Eraserhead...it's like it's from another world.

  • thanks a lot! I will check it;)

  • @RadioactiveChris i understood eraserhead quite well... i think...

it was about henrys broken relationship which he had left, but the girl was pregnant from when they were together, and the baby slowly ruins henrys life as its keeping them together, and the in heaven girl represents his suicidal thoughts, which grow throughout the movie. then as he is seen with the babies head he realises all people think about is the deformed baby, so he kills the baby, and he kills himself (theres more)

  • Loved this movie so much... so awesomely, creepily ironic...

  • good movie...crazy shit

  • Baby wants to fuck! Baby wants to fuck Blue Velvet!

  • Is that from something?

  • The movie?

  • Don't you fucking look at me!

    He he.

  • ...no mutant babys?.....ok ill watch it XD

  • i bought this movie from borders today. it was on sale for 6 bucks!

  • Heineken, FUCK THAT SHIT

    PABST BLUE RIBBON!

  • Lets fuck! Ill fuck anything that moves!

  • @Amebixfan Taste question. American beers are too light anyway..

  • blue velvet is my all time favorite film. once you have seen it you will never look at norman rockwell's work or hear bobby vinton's theme song the same ever again. to me it is like night time in mayfield, leave it to beaver.

  • is this movie on here, because i really want to see it,I've heard it's a pretty good movie,I mean come on it has Dennis hopper and brad Doyurif in the same flick,so it should be a nice one, please i wanna see more Lynch stuff.

  • Blue Velvet is certainly my fav film, even have the poster hanging in my "blue bedroom." Freud's Oedipus Complex pretty much depicted from beginning to end: Young boy, displaces father, beds (surrogate) mother, comes through it all by marrying the girl "just like dear old dad." All of this behing a picket fence. Geez, this film "marks me the deepest" as Dern says in Wild at Heart." This is Lynch's most accessible film after WH. Love all he does.

  • Masterpiece from David Lynch

  • In all seriousness... Is this movie good? I want to hear from someone who actually saw this. Please give me like a rating or a grading scale like was it a A, B, C, D, or F? You can throw in the +'s or -'s in there if needed.... thank you...

  • A++++

  • Yeah I would give it an A+. It was really inventive and original. I'm someone who doesn't find anything weird or normal, just brilliant. This is one of my favorite films and definitely in my Top 10.

  • A+, 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10...

  • it's off the wall, dennis hopper is one sick fuck! totally cool flick!

  • if you think hes fucked up in this movie, you should watch Apocalypse Now!...thats where he is mindfucked!

  • Wow, totally forgot he was in that movie too.

He was some crazy photographer in Apocalypse Now right?

  • His name is Dennis Hopper

  • Greatest Feature Ever.

  • i just saw on ifc good flick i like lynch he needs a new movie

  • If 0:42 isn't evidence that Frank Booth is one of the scariest characters to ever be on film, then nothing is.

  • I knew the polish prince bobby vinton was great. When you have a movie named after one of your songs you know your a legend.

  • I'm biding my time till Blue Velvet gets a proper restoration, about time!

  • Don't see movies like this today. Such a shame.

  • Eat A Dick U lil whiny bitch

  • love it much

  • My favorite part about this movie was the that it featured a Roy Orbison song. What a classic!

  • I found a copy of this movie in a charity shop which cost only £4! so last night i watched it again after maybe more than ten years ago.I only remembered that it creeped me out and there was a scene in it that haunted me for all this time. When isabella was in the bathroom and it appeared that there was someone under her dressing gown . Great film , love David Lynch...superb

And i was able to find Cannibal Holocaust which i thought i would never find, but apparently no one who workd at any of the stores knew what Blue velvet was!!! Even those who knew Lynch's movies well! So yes I'm looking Dammit!!

  • wow.. where do u live?

  • Ebay!

  • try eBay, you usually find all the rare cds and dvds on there for a good price

  • download it duh

  • La película es muy buena, especialmente la actuación de Dennis Hopper.

  • David Lynch <3

  • Dennis Hopper in a David Lynch movie, that spells awsomeness. This is a remarkable film. its either this or Wild at Heart as David Lynch's best film.

  • Heineken?? Fuck that shit!! paps blue ribbon!!

  • this song is played by the platters?

  • amazing cast and just stunning movie!

  • Really Good movie! bad trailer

  • Great movie

  • freaky/scary ass movie!

  • really i have never seen it before, how is it scary?

  • SURREALISM

When you are at the mercy of five men in a strange place...Well that freaks me out more than a little girl spitting out pea soup

  • lol...I just watched it yesterday in class...and can I tell you, all the girls had their hands covering their mouths and the guys were so into it...YET, the whole class concluded with EVERYONE going "WHAT?! What the hell just happened" needless to say, I myself am still trying to figure out this movie!

  • hah i saw it in school also. everyone was rather quiet about it until sandy's ex and his jock buddies were all like "is that your mom?" acting all sorry and concerned. it was one of those films that really stuck with me though :)

  • mmmmuuaaaahhhh

  • DON'T YOU FUCKIN LOOK AT ME!!!

  • that would be a quote...from Blue Velvet...the video featured here :)

  • oooooh ok lmao

  • dennis hopper famously said that he was whacked out like this in real life.he once strapped himself up to dynamite ,sat on a chair and tried to lite it.thankfully he failed.this performance was to scarey for 'liberal hollywood ' .not even an oscar nomination.

  • I saw this film on tv late at nite and it just hooked me in i've been a big lynch fan ever since!

  • I just rented this.

I love Twin Peaks...so I hope its as good as I've heard.

  • this is my all time favorite film.

  • No doubt, one of the greatest films ever!

  • Great movie. Enough has been said. SEE IT NOW!

  • I want to see this I've finally started getting into Lynch films but if this is anything like Lost High and Muholland Drive in the totally fucked up sense I might need to get the gas they give you at the dentist, not the laughing gas the other stuff, so I can huff that shit for an hour before hand so the movie can make some sense. lol Fucking Lynch man. It's like being on a gallon of nyquil without having taken any.

  • well this one here has a straigh storyline for the most part its just really Dark you won't believe Dennis Hopper

this was the first Lynch movie I saw and I was literally shaking but I was hooked
