  • You play with pride Sir - and makes me smile. ( :

    Good job to you.

I love... that YOU love the music - it is obvious.

  • Beautiful! Bach will be surprised ...

    :)

  • What a great music and a performance.

I played the song when I was young, but I didn't know the song is beautiful like this.

    Congrat!!

  • I think the main reason there are only 124 likes is cuz too many people were in awe to remember to click the like button...

  • 4 people are bashing their heads into the wall right now. (:

  • Hi Mark! your every where, congrats on that. :) Please tell me, you posted that you used the Music Minus One, Did you take the flute track out of your performance or did you slightly decrease the volume, and play along with it? There were parts where it almost sounded as if there where 2 flutes playing. Almost like a chorus effect. Pretty cool. Also is there an adjustment for the tempo in the program?

  • @stark1770 Hi, on this recording I played the play along track minus flute over my audio system and played along with it and recorded it on a single Sony mic. I'm not sure where an echo is coming from, unless it is something with youtube or the file being translated. I don't hear an echo playing it here or on the original .mov file. The tempo is just as it is on the MMO CD. They do have another track of it on the CD where it is faster. Thanks for your comments.

  • @FluteMark Hey there, just listened to this after a week or so, wanted you to know (for what it's worth) I think you did a great job with your performance! This is a tuffy aye? Its refreshing to see an interpretation that is well prepared and polished. Top notch musicianship in your playing. Keep up the great work. I think young flutist bennifit from being able to just type in a few words and get a chance to hear the many various renditions. They can then decide how to shape their own art.:)

  • i love this piece and your great cheek me put to read about me on my channel on here i have a video on soon

  • Yes, James Galway plays it faster and with simmilar exspression (ok maybe a little precise) as your slower interpretation. But both version makes joy when listening :)

  • I know it on piccolo and flute by heart :D

but its not as gooddd :P

  • ughh I have to learn the first part thats repeated for my All-District Solo... wish me luckkkkk...... :)

  • this is one of my old competition pieces... u sounded fabulous..

  • very good mr best ive heard well done

  • I sounds amazing when he plays it! I play it like, really slow, only the first two verses...:S

  • omg!!! your so good! I'm just learning this on flute now :) you make it sound so easy! D:

  • Speechless@_@I love flute,and i love flutist too!Can i make friend with you?Im from Vietnam,my name is Minh and i play piano,violin and flute^^

  • You are amazing! I'm auditioning for the distinguished scholars program on June 1st, and i'm performing this piece. Unfortunately, i haven't had the piece for very long, but i can only hope i perfect it as well as you have!

  • I love this piece. I'm playing it in a few days at my middle school band competition. I can't play it ThAT Well

  • i love your playing...there's so much emotion in your playing and you make it obvious that you really enjoy music.

when i listen to your playing....it just inspires me! thank you bunches!

  • I know nothing about any instrument, or much about this era, but I love the Badinerie. You seemed to get it just right.

  • Very good! You play quick and no bad tones. I just got this song as homework from my teacher and I know it's not easy xDD

  • I think you play beautifully!!

  • Wunderful!

  • AND! your point prep?!?

  • nice, were did you get the backtrack?

  • U ROCK =D

  • I LOVE IT!! :)

  • very nice!!fantastic!

  • wow i love your videos!! but for this music.. um perhaps more bouncy in the beginning?

  • fantastic the only thing i would say is. some of the notes were a bit to legato. it's baroque and it's the flute. play most things detatched unless told. that's how it is mostly played

  • oh my gosh i have been practicing this song for over 3 months now and i am still not that good! that totally rocked! i have to play polonaise and badinerie from suite in B minor for a contest and i just hope that i can get up to ur level! my flute teacher would love me if i was that good! hehe keep up the good work! from a fellow flute!

  • TE SUPERARE DEVERAS! XD

  • GREAT!!!! i still dont think its all slurred

  • Perfect!

  • that was excellent! i am surprised that your face didn't turn the same colour as the wall during that performance. and you play faster than most flautists and so clearly. well done.

  • Oh.. I try to learn this song on flute, but its very hard

  • beautiful! thanks for posting.

  • ec loko s cko

    la kgóo

  • süperr:D

  • That was fantastic! At first, I thought that a recording was playing, it was so good! I'm playing the second half for an audition. It's a fun piece.

  • tu interpretacion es muy buena

  • You totally nailed it! I love your sound. I played part of this piece for an audition and I loved it - you do Bach justice. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Terrific! I played this with the Menuet for Junior Bach Festival this year. It's a great piece and yours is the best rendition of it that I've seen on YouTube thus far - and I've seen a lot of 'em. Thank you for posting this!

  • I play flute and i am playing this song. Its hard! You are soo goood!!!^^

  • This one is one of my favourites. My daughter tells me she wants to play this, maybe in a couple of more years. Keep it up.

  • wow that was very well played ^.^.. is this a hard peice for flutes?

  • I have to say it does look like his fingering is slightly out.But I can only get through the 1st half! But I don't think anyone would be sad enough to claim credit for work that wasn't theres!

  • whoaa your play perfectly

  • wow, you're really good! i love this song. i'm playing this for my solo and ensemble festival in april, but i just got the song, so i'm not very good at it, but you have inspired me. :)

  • jelously is very common on youtube... whenevr someone comes across with talent people are very quick to judge and say videos have been tampered with etc... ITS PATHETIC.... end of... THE MAN IS GOOD... like it or lump it, but SHUT YOU GOB *please*

  • Pretty wonderful performance! Might try getting it to sound a little lighter. It sounds forced...like you're just whamming out every note. I can see it in your eyes, it's like you're straining sometimes. Relax and try just letting it happen. Breath support and embouchure have to be really in control but the articulation should just dance and be light. I know I've given you a ton of comments, but I just hope they'll help. You are quite a talent.

  • You're foolish to write such a comment. As a trained flutist who's been playing this piece for about 16 years, I see that he's fingering every note where it belongs. It would be pretty silly to think he was miming it if he shows proof that all of his fingerings match the flute sound. You shouldn't comment on things you know absolutely NOTHING about.

  • you are a retard... i bet you don't even play the flute... I KNOW HE IS PLAYING IT, I HAVE THE MUSIC IN FRONT ME! you know nothing if you think he is miming... get a life you jelous little shite

  • I just love Bach when played well. This is Excellent!

  • oszust!!! i tyle...

  • you are absolutly amazing. I'm stunned. O.O I get to play this peice for my solo this year. : ] and im in high school now :]], yes it will be interesting for me to even attempt what you have accieved... anyway you're my hero FluteMark.

  • your music is amazing. all your videos are just GREAT! you make it seem so easy.

  • your really good. i played this suite for a solo back when i was in high school. your very talented!!

  • Did he say HE JUST GIVE A TRY?????

  • Hey Mr. Flutemark, now that was a really good performance. You technique is admirable and

    imo your interpretation as well.

  • yeahh i play that too ...wanna be a duo xD i have 17 years but theres a problem i'm from peru xD see yaa

  • Hi FluteMark!! :) I must say that u are a true inspiration... I love this piece and have played it myself on sopraninorecorder which is kinda tough. Thank u for another great vid!

  • you know, you have a lot of really high quality videos up here (also...you a fan of the baroque =P I notice a pattern..ahha) youre really very good, and whenever I stumble across one of your vids, I know its going to be a good one

  • I LOVE THIS PIECE!!! I played it a few years ago for Texas State Solo & Ensemble!!!

  • You are awsome! Your tone is exellent and everything is so damn good! thanks for the inspiration

  • Are you a pro? You're very good.

  • He says he's an amateur.

He should audition for his closest Symphony or chamber. :)

  • did the Anaxa flute are good because i had been upgraded my flute and i buy an Anaxa by internet if you have an answer it would be nice thanks !

  • Très belle interprétation chapeau maestro !

I have a question what is the brand of your flute i really like the tone thanks !

  • Hi, It is a Muramatsu flute. Thanks for your comment!

  • Where do you get those play along recordings? they are awesome.

  • Hi, I purchased it from Music Minus One. Thanks for your comment.

  • By far the best rendition of this piece in youtube . Great work . BTW, I wish to purchase this accompaniment CD. what should I ask for and where would I get it..?

  • Hi, It is from Music Minus One.

  • Great tone and technique, but i didn't hear any dynamic contrast at all. While this seems elementary, it would take this piece from decent to proffesional sounding.

    Great job :)

  • My class mate, his little plays the fast badinerie. I was like WOW when I first heard him. You do it good too.

Try use your tounge some more to speed it up.

  • it does not need to be faster. In fact, we almost know nothing about the speed it was meant to be played... faster does not mean better, get that ;)

  • It would be hard for him to speed it up when the orchestra is pre-recorded on a CD, wouldn't you say? And the tongue doesn't speed up or slow down the music. The brain does, by telling our fingers, tongue, lungs, lips and ear what tempo to play at. Faster isn't better.

  • Nice video Mark!

    Beautiful playing!

Bach would have been proud! :)

    The trills were done great!

  • I'm currently studying this song! Great job with this. :D What flute do you play on?

  • did you know that on this game (forgot what it's called) they played this song REALLY REALLY REALLY fast. they EVEN rapped to it. it was kind of weird. but nonetheless, i like this song!

  • Mark u did a good job on this piece. I saw James Galway play this live. He was SO fast!! So much that it almost sounded like he was rushing. I know he's a great player but sometimes too much is not so good. You should check out that video of J.G on my viedos and you will see what I mean.

  • Thanks Elisa, yes, I watched it and it is fast indeed. I heard him play it in Michigan years ago at an autograph session before the concert and he zipped it out unaccompanied. We then went to the concert where he played it again as an encore.

  • It's hard to find the score for this, as impossible as it seems. I have a library system of over 30 libraries and I can usually find any major score. I ordered a couple things that may or may not be the score to Badinerie. I wanted to try playing it on the violin, since I could never play it on the flute!!!

  • For score: Search google for "rama-archive" (can't give direct links on replies) and in there search for "Badinerie". You will find complete score for all 7 parts together with midi files.

  • Thanks for the link. Nice site. A bit limited in selection, but I enjoy the MIDI file, for those pieces I'm not sure how the melody goes. They had Tartini's Art of Bowing. The MIDI was a great help on some parts of it.

Badinerie is so hard! Guess I'll have to practice it a long time!

  • You played beautifully, I learned it on the piano the rythm is very difficult it may not sound like it is. Great Job

  • P.S.: You are a great flute player. You do not compete with Jimmy ;-)

  • Hi Mark, great, just great!

Sounds like a full orchestra! Not only perfect flute playing, but also perfect video and sound technique! I lost your comments on processing, could you give me the link? Galway-Chat Number? Thanks, R.

  • I have the same microphone you do, but I can't seem to get it to capture my tone the way I would like when doing video. Any tricks? I suspect you sound even better in person, as these condenser microphones sometimes don't capture our overtones on the flute and gain goes straight for the core of the sound.

  • Oh, Mark,... that was simply fantastic. Don't ever sell yourself short. Badinerie is a very difficult piece and you just played it flawlessly. This video proves your skill. I commend you highly. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks! Until recently, I could not play through this piece without difficulty. The key was working on scales and scale studies. I still have work to do, but I am very glad that I have begun working on the major/minor scale studies.

  • Have you ever thought about posting a video of you playing without a CD? I would love to hear this Badinerie movement particularly by the flute itself, just to see what the solo sounds like without the orchestra.

  • Well, I'm glad to hear that you broke a personal goal. I can only imagine that every flautist's dream is to play Badinerie.

  • You give it a lot more than a try, thumb up :)

and if I may ask, what is the tempo?

  • Hi, thank you. It measures 114 on my metronome. I hear the pros like Sir James Galway play it more like 120, but I would have to work on it to achieve that tempo. I was limited to the speed of my play along CD which was 114.
