I put a teaspoon into the blender when I make my fruit smoothies. You can hardly taste it if you drink it fresh, but if you happen to have the smoothie in the fridge for a day or 2, the cinnamon starts to dominate the taste of the smoothie.
Hi, there has been a lot of research into cinnamon helping people who have Multiple Sclerosis. I have MS and I have been eating buns that have lots of cinnamon in them for 2 days now and guess what? My balance has improved! I wonder if it may have something to do with a cure? I hope so cause it tastes great!
I love to put ground cinnamon in my Oatmeal and curries. I like to chew on the cinnamon sticks. Say, Kevin. Upon watching this video and the other one where you make cinnamon tea and discuss body types, I didn't notice an ordering address of the company you buy the cinnamomum zeylanicum from. Could you send it my way or post it up in the info section of this video? Thanks in advance! =)
For those of you looking for the best quality of Ceylon you must go to Penzeys.
I love this cinnamon tea with a little honey. In the summer I have it on the rocks with a wedge of lemon. It's so refreshing. You will not need any sugar.
If you have a cold I suggest adding a bit of cayenne with fresh grated ginger.
I put cinnamon on my 'Chia Goodness' cereal :) I am going to look for the Ceylon kind. Does anyone know of any store that sells it around the Chicago area?
@MrKangavar Cinnamomum aromaticum (Cassia or Chinese cinnamon) - BAD - harsher flavor, higher coumarin content; very hard, thick and difficult to fragment
Cinnamomum verum (Ceylon cinnamon, True cinnamon) - AWESOME - sweeter flavor, lower coumarin content; lighter in color and relatively easy to crumble
She said that these two cinnamons were in the same "family", but she meant genus (there are 1000s of species in the family Lauraceae).
Coumarin is a toxin which can damage your liver/kidneys.
I like it in my smoothie when I make the cinnamon apple one with spinach and romain. I like it also in my chocolate protein shake and I add little coffee.
@starflower666 cassia is actually good d benefitial, much more than Ceylon. Its been used in chinese medicine for thousands years,it aids circulation and much more benefits but just like an aspirin if you take 30 aspirins it wont do you any good.Ive read less than 4 grams a day of cassia is ok.20 grams you may have problems. So tahts it,dont rhow your cassia way
Kevin, you are an amazing soul, Your contributations to the spread of nutrtional information on youtube is unbelivable. I seriously cant thank you enough. You have inspired me so much. Thank you thank you thank you
I use Saigon Cinnamon from Vietnam. It's says on the back that it's Ceylon and it has an incredible rich taste. If you use too much you'll have the same reaction Kevin and Ann Marie did in the vid.
This is great info. It took me a few viewings to get it straight! Ok so ceylon cinnamon is the one you want. FYI McCormick cinnamon you get at the store is the WRONG one and its not even labeled on the package! Have to go to their web site to find out it is cassia. I'll be taking mine back to the store.
thank you for the video(and the one about vanilla) I did not know about the difference between the two - my favorite use has been on toast(no sugar) and love it in tea with rosehips.

I slice up some apples and put them in a bowl, pour some coconut milk in and sprinkle some cinnamon on it. And sometimes I'll add some walnuts to it.

Great stuff! I wonder if the Coumarin is what they make Coumadin from? That is a blood thinner they will give heart patients in the hospital.
