Awesome video!! I love the dark dreary rainy night with lights all around just barely glinting off the otherwise dark and mysterious beast...all the various hissing and chuffing and machine sounds as she rolls by, along with the occasional crystal clear horn blast. Then at 0:48, steam coming out from all angles and different colored lights from all sides, she eerily disappears into her own cloud of steam and smoke. Couldn't be a more proper setting for such a legendary locomotive.
@bigtex144 ...and then as the steam drifts away from the crossing, she too drifts away into the darkness leaving only a fading headlight and one last, loud lonesome whistle. Damn, the romanticism of trains is truly awesome. Such a well captured video, thanks for sharing
@BUICK925 look under the number 844 on the side of the engine; there is where the firebox is located, where coal, or today, oil is burned to heat water for the steam drive. I admit, title is somewhat misleading, as the engine was NOT on fire.
what a cool shot

Cool video, but yes that's totally normal...just the fire in the firebox. She's been burning oil since 1945.

What happen to the engine?

@SuperMario6419 Nothing, that's actually just the normal fire in the firebox, it's just that it's night time so you can see flames blowing out.

@RyanDale311 Typical for oil fuel burner... coal fired engines do not show this...
