  • Great energy. You guys nailed it.

  • Really great version - thanks so much. An inspiration for my fledgling whistle skills and would like to try guitar version too. Would be good to know what tuning the guitar is in? DADGAD? Having spent time on Raasay nearly 20 years ago it's great to learn of that connection too. Destined to be a favourite tune for many...

  • That was awesome! I was wandering where you get your whistles?

  • this was our first tune we danced to on our wedding day, 3 years ago today. I'm sitting listening to it now looking over Broadford Bay to Raasay. Calum Macleod was a lesson to us all, great tune, thanks.

  • Great version, my daughter also plays this on her fiddle.

  • You did a wonderful job on that song. I like how you switched from the low whistle to the high one and your facial expressions are so fun to watch. You look like you really enjoy playing the music. I liked the guitar playing along with it as well.

  • Because of your video, my Band has been performin this delightful tune for every show here in sunny Malaysia :-)

  • Wow, just found you guys....great tune! Love the high licks on the second whistle really hit em great! Keep it up fellas, we are surely enjoying it!

  • That's a wonderful tune and very well executed.

Is that to much to ask for some tip of where can I find guitar tab and partiture for whistle of this song?

    Thank you very much

  • Thanks. And yup, thats a Dixon Polymer alright. A grands little whistle.

As I listen to this now though I keep hearing flubs that make me cringe. :-/ Its been 2 years since I recorded this - maybe I've gotten a little better heh

  • After listening to this I found myself going off whistleing this happy little tune, You made my day, Thanks : 0 )

I play both High and low D Chieftons I have checked my publications for this tune and can't find it. Where do I locate it?

  • wow, it's nice :)

  • It's a lovely tune and you've certainly done it justice here - very nicely played. You get a really nice sound with the guitar and the whistles here, 5 stars. Keep up the good work guys!

I think I'll have to shoot for a sound like that on the keyboard the next time I'm on it - a bit of variation from the fiddle and accordion sounds.

  • amazing. very well played....

  • Awesome song

  • Wow, that's just fantastic!

I really wanna play this tune with my whistle, could send me the partitures?

  • Brilliant!

  • Oh, my. I'm a guitarist and my wife has just started fooling around with a tin whistle. You've given us something to shoot for. Thanks for posting.

  • feels like an Old Spice commercial

  • buenisimo

  • what keys are your whistles in?...

  • good stuff, always good to see a fa and son jamming away. I like the droning intro :)

  • what brand of whistle is that...I have been intersted in buying a low whistle for some time now and like the sound of yours...

  • where can i find tab of this...or if its your own arrangement could you possibly send me tab?

  • Well...I am sorry to say I can't really help you too much. See, I don't actually know how to read music and thus don't use that sort of thing, and dad just listend to the tune and figured it out (I don't remember him ever writing it down). However, I have spent a lot of time looking for tabs for irish tunes for my friends with other instuments, and I'll tell ya, they are hard to find...

Good luck, hope you find some! :) and if you do let me know.

  • It's by Capercaillie, Sheet Music - Ceol na Feis Books and maybe Their Web?

  • @nasreal it's not a tab, but the session website is good for lots of folk. Maybe this is what you're looking for? thesession into google.

  • Loved hearing this again, I'm remembering when I heard the Capercaillie original years ago, you're both great. I wondered though -it's so obviously a Scottish style tune, so what made you go for a more irish/bluegrass tone?

  • Hey - sorry so long on reply. I've been at school (meaning REALLY bad net connection and no youtube). But, as to your question about bluegrassishness...

Wasn't really something we ment to do. I think dad dosn't play much scottish/celtic stuff so it got inadvertantly a bit bluegrassified in the process. :-)

  • Yay! I love running across music like this. I'm subscribing...keep posting!

  • You guys sound great together!

  • I'm jealous. My old man wouldn't give me the time of day.

  • Good!

  • where abouts do you get those bigger tinwhistles?

  • They're Low Whistles, some people make them and some don't, but they're usually from the more expensive brands. Off the top of my head, Kerry/Chieftain, Susato, Overton and Shaw all make them, as well as several others.

  • cheers zepheriah

  • this really is great stuff. keep it up.

  • I love this song as well.

  • You both played it so well!
