If you can't sell cars with a cheap price and increase market share, like how the Korean car co is doing, then you guys should kill yourselves. Germans has a high currency and the Yen is also high, but Hyundai has a low currency so can charge the lowest price. So don't think you guys are doing something fabulous. If Germany and Japan had the cost advantage that Hyundai has they would own the market because they already have quality. Bottom line Hyundai, need to still increase quality.
Do not understand why Hyundai did not make an upscale brand separate from cheap image of hyundai like lexus from toyota ? I think the leadership thought creating a brand new upscale car would have been too costly so they took a risk of going without one. i think it is a big mistake.
When I am on the highway and I am driving behind a genesis, I cringe. It's embarassing.

I particularly like your "you may/may not like this if" part of your videos because of how it simplifies deciding weather I would like the car or not. Like in this video I knew I would not like it too much because I care about brand name and great handling. Keep up your reviews.
My family have 4 Hyundais between us not a single problem in 5 years on any of them. I am definitely upgrading to this, if its reliable and cheaper why not!
There will always be die hards that wont accept competition. Companies that behave that way, die. It's a great car. You want a sporty car, look elsewhere. It works magnificently for my family and my clients. I did my part for the American economy when I bought our Suburban but hey, I also bailed them out. So now I'm getting the best I can for my money and this is it.
I've owned the Genesis for 1 month now. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have stiffer handling & more sporty performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura-you are delusional. Smoothness of ride & quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. Dare you to take a blindfolded ride & prove my point.

Its not comparable. The LS430 was called one of the most reliable and problem free cars of all time.. When your Hyundai can get to such a Level... then we can talk. @Toyota4Life While I agree that the Genesis is not yet on par with the likes of Lexus, the Hyundai brand is starting to embarrass the regular Toyota and Scion vehicles (the new Elantra et al) which are continuing their uninteresting lateral progression. And the ISF is a gaudy body-kitted, fish gilled, fake tailpipe having 'nice-try' (at the more impressive M3 and CTS-V) which I honestly think only appeals to adults who still play video games and read D-Sport.
@2003SCT Nice shot at the ISF but you fail. I"ve seen many ISF in real life and it and rich looking car and says "money" and that sound of a V8 I've never heard from a japanese car. The new 2011 ISF even now puts down the same laps as a M3... FACT ( look lightening lap ) it laps just as fast as the M3 all while being heavier then the M3 AND smaller tires. The M3 even had the optional better tires and still could not out run the ISF on the track. After only 3 years the the ISF match the M3.
@Toyota4Life And at least the BMW/M3 look amazing in convertible form...the Lexus IS convertible looks like a cheap shortened car hardly worthy of its sticker price. I think the only Lexus models that equal or better some of the competition are the LS and....maybe the basic IS. The SC is a fat boulevard porker, the sport utes are useless, the GS is a total has been, and the LF-A (which looks odd as hell in the Lexus lineup) is TWICE the price it should be with a L for 'Loser Who Paid Too Much'
@2003SCT Read any review on the 2011 ISF they LOVE IT. The M3 a looker ? LOL the inside and outside of the M3 are BLAND. The CTS-V I like alot... but when Lexus drops the GS-F... thats what you compare it to.. NOT the ISF.. I've seen many ISF in real life... a MUCH better looker then the M3.. especially in the USB paint. It took Lexus 3 year to match what it took BMW 25 + years to make. And to make matter WORSE... this is only the first generation ISF... cant wait for the next.
@Toyota4Life Most all car guys will prefer an M3 ANY DAY over the boy racer-ish ISF. And looks are subjective on any vehicle though the cheesy gills and fake tailpipes on most ISFs are hardly good looking. I would be surprised if the GSF even came out...as far as I know they hardly sell any of the GS's anymore if you look at sales numbers. And if you talk time to progress, then it Hyundai almost no time to bring out new compacts which out perform/tech the forgettable Corolla.
My mother might get the 2010, with 10,500 km for 33K. Honestly, Im not all crazy about the brand name but unless ur insecure about ur social economical status, this is a great buy! More money for her vacation clothes and other events! She'll still drive in comfort! We going to check it out Thursday along with a ES and A4.
They are definetley improving, but alas it is still a Hyundai. they can't escape that tinny feel. Also I'd bet this is falling to bits after 6 years and resale will be abismal. Why would anyone buy this over a second hand 2 or 3 year old mercedes or bmw with low miles?.
@scruffynerfherder90 Try driving one before you judge. I took both this and the Coupe for test drives when they came out and I was absolutely blown away. The coupe is a full-on real deal sports car and this puts stuff costing twice as much to shame. There was nothing "tinny" about it - it felt significantly more solid than an Acura or a Lexus.

@pattycarljackson those ratings doesnt mean anything today. All models are reliable enough. It's not a decision making factor for most buyers. Brand name? BIG factor. That's why BMW is one of the top selling premium brands. Many people buy hyundai (but still small shares) because they are on budget. I heard that Hyundai is going to raise price of all models but they need to keep current price range if they want to make sales.
Who would thought 20 years ago when hyundai first came on the scene that they would build such great cars. First the sonada,sante fe,varacruze,genesis. Hyundai has relly step thier game up with the Genesis a car that can compete with the BMW 5-series Mercedes E-class and let's not forget the new one they are comeing out with Equies.

Finally, bluestreak/AG: MT actually went out and tested recalled Priuses and, despite deliberately trying to reproduce brake failure, were unable to do so. In August the govt. released their own test data, finding that at least 80% of the acceleration complaints were probably driver error...Re: Camry, I still think there is/was an issue with acceleration, but it's clear it was overblown, especially since there've been similar numbers of accel. complaints for camry competitors in recent yrs

Motor Trend even said Toyota's brake override feature, which steps in to prevent runaway accel., is unnecessary;in other words, why compensate for an acceleration issue that isn't an issue?
There was certainly merit to the Toyota recalls, though of course it was overblown by the media, which televised a runaway throttle scenario concocted by a shady university professor. In fact, the Stanford Automotive Research Ctr. did replicate his results--in seven other midsize sedans along with the camry, proving either that everyone is unsafe riding in any midsize car or that the throttle issue is exaggerated. Lexicon is actually quite good, but then any 17 speaker system will blow you socks off. Really one of the better car audio systems is bang & olufsen. Thats why you only really find Bose in upgraded common cars like many nissan products. Btw, don't mistake my comment as a supporting statement for the genesis lol. This car is a joke, top to bottom.

This is going to sound out of line and border line rediculous but just the other day I was driving down the road and I mistaked the Hyundai Genesis for a Bentley for litteraly 1/2 a sec, They had the Angel wing Badge as the Emblem instead of the Hyundai company Logo badge on the rear, for a quick second I thought it was a foriegn exotic car or a Bentley until i got closer and saw the front of the car. However having that siad I dont think they look like Bentleys at ALL. =)

It is 4 years now, and I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THAT CAR....Actually I have people offering me money to buy it....It actually still smell like new. I use it everyday, and it has by now like 75000 Km. If my $11500.00 is like it is now after 4 years, that $35000.00 should do way better.
Funny how Hyundai is evolving, they actually build pretty good cars now. They used to be like Kia or Deawoo. American automakers could learn a few things from them.
I've driven this car just for giggles (i have an 07 sonata). It was awesome. very nice car. it's a close competitor to the lexus or bmw. since i bought my sonata, i've become a fan of hyundai. and when i decide to get a new car, i will get another hyundai, genesis would be nice but i'm fond of the sonata, but who knows. i just may get this one.
The people that comment poorly on Hyundai are either 1. @CeeStyleDj and for lexus....the LS is nothing but the toyota corona(remember that one from years past, well, it is now the LS), the gs is the solara, the es is the camry and the is is a corolla(like a cigar i guess). of course lexus(toyota) has "dolled" these models in order to place the lexus badge upon them and that badge really costs a lot of money. on ewould think that a company involved in "the pursuit of perfection" wouldn't have so many recalls!!!! especially for even FLOOR MATS!!!!

Lexus is miles ahead of toyota in fit and finish and as for the recalls...they were absolved of everything (by NASA and the NHTSA) except for floor mats. while this may seem trivial, do some research and see how many manufacturers recall models every single week. its much more than you would think. not hating on hyundai, just defending lexus as it is a top marque brand

@sayeretmatkal17021 Yes, Toyota has had some recalls, however Honda/Acura is not free from fault either. They've had some breaking problems too. They also had some interesting airbags that deploy with too much pressure so that the bag explodes and causes injury or death. As terrifying as it may be to accelerate and not be able to break, I would be happy in a Toyota to know that when I crash, the airbag wouldn't snap my neck. There are also some window buttons that might set fire to the car.
@sayeretmatkal17021 Also, before you jump on Toyota/Lexus's airbag problems, that problem is lack of deployment or weak deployment of side airbags, which I deem less important than the head airbags. @choffler1 i Thank You too! and i want You to know that i am a fan of Toyota/Lexus, especially Lexus, but i am also a fan of Honda/Acura. they are both the best in the industry and i purchase both. at the moment my wife drives Acura TL SH/AWD and i drive Lexus ES. we take turns and its fun. whether Lexus or Acura, one cannot go wrong with either. i get disappointed when i learn of a "defect" from either company because they are both precision perfectionists and i can be critical of both.

@acmQ1312 anad in Nippon....the LS IS THE CORONA model....that is why there has not been the Corona name model in the US for a LONG TIME. the Corona(CROWN) will always be Toyota's top of the line regardless of what badge it wears. Lexus exists as a division now in Nippon, but that has occurred in recent years and one of the worst cars ever made for the money was the Lexus SC. FLOOR MATS KILLING PEOPLE...TOYOTA INSPECTORS WERE REALLY LAX! AND THEN THEY COVERED IT UP!
@sayeretmatkal17021 I suggest you watch KBB's Lexus ES review. It addresses the car's affiliation to the Toyota Camry and tells you why it's more money and has that Lexus badge on it. It speaks of the car's better exterior design, interior design, and performance (basically how it's a better car).
@sayeretmatkal17021 I also suggest that you look up the definition of "pursuit" in "pursuit of perfection" because I'm pretty sure it means that Lexus is seeking perfection, not they have perfection now. As an example, Toyota/Lexus had a floor mat problem. They are fixing it. They are closer to perfection. I'm pretty sure that qualifies as following the "pursuit of perfection" motto.
@sayeretmatkal17021 the gs is the avalon, not the solara, and the only shared feature between toyota and their lexus counterparts are the front chassis. drivetrain, interior, rear suspension, etc is all dfiferent. and Also the floormat and break recall is toyotas first major recall, and 3rd of all time, while american car companies are pushing hundreds.

@sayeretmatkal17021 Actually, ford owns about 1/3 of mazda, so maxda is managaed by ford. And mazda has 5 less cars in its fleet then ford, so there is no way that every lincoln and ford is a mazda or anything similar. and also gm still has 12 divisions.

You get way more for your money than you do with a Lexus. Also, this car is not really meant to compete with the Lexus Es350. Besides, this car looks WAY nicer than any Lexus.
This car is comparable to the Camry and the accord. The XLE Camry have the same features as the fully loaded genesis at around the same price. The camry is definitely better than the genesis.
The Genesis competes with the Toyota Avalon. It is a large luxury sedan, though it competes with cars costing lots more. And for me, the Genesis is better then the Camry, I've owned many Camry's, and I would rather have a Genesis. But to each his own...
I'll have to look into that. I had no idea the Camry came with a 7.1 surround sound system with 17 speakers. Or that it had heated and cooled seats, A 375 h.p. V8. 4-piston front brake calipers. Polished metal for door surrounds, door handles and wheels, real wood trim, leather on the dash, power tilt and telescope steering wheel, adaptive xenon headlights and so on. BUT..... you must know what you're talking about. Otherwise you wouldn't have said it. RIGHT?! lol
The New XLE camry has all that except for a v8 and a lexicon surround sound system. you can opt for a slightly worse sound system. I believe this is probably on par with the Avalon, and less so than the Camry.

Do not understand why Hyundai did not make an upscale brand separate from cheap image of hyundai like lexus from toyota ? I think the leadership thought creating a brand new upscale car would have been too costly so they took a risk of going without one. i think it is a big mistake.
When I am on the highway and I am driving behind a genesis, I cringe. It's embarassing.

There will always be die hards that wont accept competition. Companies that behave that way, die. It's a great car. You want a sporty car, look elsewhere. It works magnificently for my family and my clients. I did my part for the American economy when I bought our Suburban but hey, I also bailed them out. So now I'm getting the best I can for my money and this is it.

I've owned the Genesis for 1 month now. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have stiffer handling & more sporty performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura-you are delusional. Smoothness of ride & quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. Dare you to take a blindfolded ride & prove my point.

@Toyota4Life While I agree that the Genesis is not yet on par with the likes of Lexus, the Hyundai brand is starting to embarrass the regular Toyota and Scion vehicles (the new Elantra et al) which are continuing their uninteresting lateral progression. And the ISF is a gaudy body-kitted, fish gilled, fake tailpipe having 'nice-try' (at the more impressive M3 and CTS-V) which I honestly think only appeals to adults who still play video games and read D-Sport.

@2003SCT Nice shot at the ISF but you fail. I"ve seen many ISF in real life and it and rich looking car and says "money" and that sound of a V8 I've never heard from a japanese car. The new 2011 ISF even now puts down the same laps as a M3... FACT ( look lightening lap ) it laps just as fast as the M3 all while being heavier then the M3 AND smaller tires. The M3 even had the optional better tires and still could not out run the ISF on the track. After only 3 years the the ISF match the M3.

I think the only Lexus models that equal or better some of the competition are the LS and....maybe the basic IS. The SC is a fat boulevard porker, the sport utes are useless, the GS is a total has been, and the LF-A (which looks odd as hell in the Lexus lineup) is TWICE the price it should be with a L for 'Loser Who Paid Too Much'

The CTS-V I like alot... but when Lexus drops the GS-F... thats what you compare it to.. NOT the ISF.. I've seen many ISF in real life... a MUCH better looker then the M3.. especially in the USB paint. It took Lexus 3 year to match what it took BMW 25 + years to make. And to make matter WORSE... this is only the first generation ISF... cant wait for the next.

And looks are subjective on any vehicle though the cheesy gills and fake tailpipes on most ISFs are hardly good looking. I would be surprised if the GSF even came out...as far as I know they hardly sell any of the GS's anymore if you look at sales numbers. And if you talk time to progress, then it Hyundai almost no time to bring out new compacts which out perform/tech the forgettable Corolla.

@scruffynerfherder90 Try driving one before you judge. I took both this and the Coupe for test drives when they came out and I was absolutely blown away. The coupe is a full-on real deal sports car and this puts stuff costing twice as much to shame. There was nothing "tinny" about it - it felt significantly more solid than an Acura or a Lexus.

That's why BMW is one of the top selling premium brands. Many people buy hyundai (but still small shares) because they are on budget. I heard that Hyundai is going to raise price of all models but they need to keep current price range if they want to make sales.

Finally, bluestreak/AG: MT actually went out and tested recalled Priuses and, despite deliberately trying to reproduce brake failure, were unable to do so. In August the govt. released their own test data, finding that at least 80% of the acceleration complaints were probably driver error...Re: Camry, I still think there is/was an issue with acceleration, but it's clear it was overblown, especially since there've been similar numbers of accel. complaints for camry competitors in recent yrs

Lexicon is actually quite good, but then any 17 speaker system will blow you socks off. Really one of the better car audio systems is bang & olufsen. This is going to sound out of line and border line rediculous but just the other day I was driving down the road and I mistaked the Hyundai Genesis for a Bentley for litteraly 1/2 a sec, They had the Angel wing Badge as the Emblem instead of the Hyundai company Logo badge on the rear, for a quick second I thought it was a foriegn exotic car or a Bentley until i got closer and saw the front of the car. However having that siad I dont think they look like Bentleys at ALL. =)

@CeeStyleDj ...AND the poersche-audi-volkswagens still use the moslem turkye work force and the reliabilty is awful. even bmw and some mercedes are now rated worse than average or average by consumer reports....and if i have problems, i prefer to have a manufacturer that is so confident about its product(as hyundai) that it offeres the best warranties in the business(observe how uncertain the "German" manufacturers are of their vehicles and now the japanese are of theirs......3 YEARS!!!!!!!!)

@sayeretmatkal17021 Hyundai was recently rated # 11 in overall reliability. The Genesis is considered above average for reliability.
Porsche, Audi, and Volkswagen are rated 27, 26, and 16 overall (respectively). Mercedes and BMW are not much better, at 18 and 19 (respectively).
Hyundai makes good cars.

@CeeStyleDj and for lexus....the LS is nothing but the toyota corona(remember that one from years past, well, it is now the LS), the gs is the solara, the es is the camry and the is is a corolla(like a cigar i guess). of course lexus(toyota) has "dolled" these models in order to place the lexus badge upon them and that badge really costs a lot of money. on ewould think that a company involved in "the pursuit of perfection" wouldn't have so many recalls!!!! especially for even FLOOR MATS!!!!

Lexus is miles ahead of toyota in fit and finish and as for the recalls...they were absolved of everything (by NASA and the NHTSA) except for floor mats. while this may seem trivial, do some research and see how many manufacturers recall models every single week. its much more than you would think. not hating on hyundai, just defending lexus as it is a top marque brand

@sayeretmatkal17021 Yes, Toyota has had some recalls, however Honda/Acura is not free from fault either. They've had some breaking problems too. They also had some interesting airbags that deploy with too much pressure so that the bag explodes and causes injury or death. As terrifying as it may be to accelerate and not be able to break, I would be happy in a Toyota to know that when I crash, the airbag wouldn't snap my neck. There are also some window buttons that might set fire to the car.

@choffler1 i Thank You too! and i want You to know that i am a fan of Toyota/Lexus, especially Lexus, but i am also a fan of Honda/Acura. they are both the best in the industry and i purchase both. at the moment my wife drives Acura TL SH/AWD and i drive Lexus ES. we take turns and its fun. whether Lexus or Acura, one cannot go wrong with either. i get disappointed when i learn of a "defect" from either company because they are both precision perfectionists and i can be critical of both.

@choffler1 i do like them,You are correct, as my wife and i own both Acura TL SH/AWD and Lexus ES. however, Hyundai is now becoming cutting edge and i will debate for Hyundai against those who believe it is like chrysler corp. Hyundai has hired several German engineers in the past 4 years who have greatly improved their product. we drove the 4.6and were impressed. i remember Honda from 1971 when entering world markets and the cvcc was junk. times have changed and same for Hyundai.

@acmQ1312 anad in Nippon....the LS IS THE CORONA model....that is why there has not been the Corona name model in the US for a LONG TIME. the Corona(CROWN) will always be Toyota's top of the line regardless of what badge it wears. Lexus exists as a division now in Nippon, but that has occurred in recent years and one of the worst cars ever made for the money was the Lexus SC. FLOOR MATS KILLING PEOPLE...TOYOTA INSPECTORS WERE REALLY LAX! AND THEN THEY COVERED IT UP!

As an example, Toyota/Lexus had a floor mat problem. They are fixing it. They are closer to perfection. I'm pretty sure that qualifies as following the "pursuit of perfection" motto.

@sayeretmatkal17021 the gs is the avalon, not the solara, and the only shared feature between toyota and their lexus counterparts are the front chassis. drivetrain, interior, rear suspension, etc is all dfiferent. and Also the floormat and break recall is toyotas first major recall, and 3rd of all time, while american car companies are pushing hundreds.

This car is comparable to the Camry and the accord. The XLE Camry have the same features as the fully loaded genesis at around the same price. The camry is definitely better than the genesis.

The Genesis competes with the Toyota Avalon. It is a large luxury sedan, though it competes with cars costing lots more. And for me, the Genesis is better then the Camry, I've owned many Camry's, and I would rather have a Genesis. But to each his own...

I'll have to look into that. I had no idea the Camry came with a 7.1 surround sound system with 17 speakers. Or that it had heated and cooled seats, A 375 h.p. V8. 4-piston front brake calipers. Polished metal for door surrounds, door handles and wheels, real wood trim, leather on the dash, power tilt and telescope steering wheel, adaptive xenon headlights and so on. BUT..... you must know what you're talking about. Otherwise you wouldn't have said it. RIGHT?! lol

The New XLE camry has all that except for a v8 and a lexicon surround sound system. you can opt for a slightly worse sound system. I believe this is probably on par with the Avalon, and less so than the Camry.
