That is very nice! You should throw in some red objects and change the lighting in the scene and make a new video. I can see it has a little trouble with glare too.
it splits the image into 2 components: Red channel and BW. Then it thresholds those images, and logically ANDs them together. So basically a target has to bright AND red for it to be detected.
