No Burr i'm not in the ballroom dance community...so in my dance community it's called Shablaam or Shawaam : ) But thanks for the informative knowledge on Ballroom...If I ever teach a ballroom class i'll be sure to refer to it as a "Dip" :)

I think your work is inspiring but it just seems that people from the contemporary jazz community are taking things from the vogue scene, without any knowledge, like the essential dip is currently called a dip (in the vogue world), or shablaam as you say. But in retrospect, Its almost gratifying to have our moves in today's contemporary pieces because of the exposure of our world. So thank you and I hope to take class with you soon.

i think when burrkittykat say's "ballroom" i think they mean the vogue ballroom scene, as that is where the move originated from. the difference between a shablaam and a dip is dips are more controlled, theyre usually softer, shablaam and/or death drops are the ones that come out of no where and dramatically fall to the floor.
