Regardless of whether or not the puck was in, the NHL still should have called a stop to the game and reviewed it up in Toronto. They do that all the time. There was no excuse not to review, especially in the Stanley Cup finals.
@NomadicMacManus No, even if this goal is in Calgary is NOT guaranteed victory. Tampa would still have had seven minutes to tie it up again. You can't even argue that because Tampa didn't score again Calgary won. They would have pulled Khabibulin for the extra man so anything could have happened.
I was going for the Flames in this series (Avs fan and American) but Calgary did NOT get screwed.
@VancouverChokers True, they were not "guaranteed" victory, but they sure would have held a hell of a better chance and would have been a lot closer if it had been counted... How cant i argue that? Seems pretty valid to me...
Man, these things are what make sports so horrible to watch and to "understand". Even though I hate the Flames because I am a Nucks fan, that must of been extremely (and I mean EXTREMELY) painfully hard to watch to see that goal cross the line and it not get counted. The Flames should of the been promised to the promise lands of Lord Stanley and to raise the Stanley Cup that night, but that wasn't the case. I am so sorry Flames fans, that must haunt you guys till this day.
I'm a Flames fan too, but look at the time, there was 6 minutes left, Why didn't anyone of the Flames try to get another goal, the lightning didn't even score until the 2nd overtime so they had 6 minutes to go. Part of it had to do with the Flames.
It didn't cross the line! End of story. The birds eye view is the only angle to look at. The puck is slightly in the air making it look like it had crossed the line in the other angle. NO GOAL!

Last time you enticed someone was a man in a dak movie theatre he was also a canuck fan in 1984, both of you got off watching pavel bure score then ask for a trade, the horror was the cum shot in your eyes by your enticed fag boyfriend when you two found out who pavel was traded for! idiot

@theicnerd1 Especially since the Canucks may very well be headed back to the Stanley Cup finals. They just have to start Corey Schneider if they have to face the Bruins again.
zoom in and listen to the commentator, "distint kicking motion". Would not have counted, did not count. Rest my case, moving on. 5:39, he also says "forget it no goal."
@tarimaa1 he was stopping you goof, thats not kicking motion. Go watch a soccer game than you'll know what kickking motion is. why dont you listen to the commentator he says your allowed to stop
His skate was directed at the net you dumb fuck it would have counted in the beer league you fucken tranny but this the nhl, no goal suck it up princess!
People, quit bitching about the goal. Yes, it crossed the line. But he kicked it, so it would've been called off anyway! It's been 7 years now, I know the Flames have been declining painfully slow since this, but get over it!
Skip to 5:25 to see the puck NOT cross the line on the overhead view. Does anyone ever look at it or do they just focus on the side view? Look at the overhead and do you see the entire puck cross the line in that view? All you see is Khabibulin's pad kicking it out and none of the puck crossing into the white of the ice. If it was a goal then both views would conclude it. Funny how no one thought it was a goal until the replay. If it wasn't reviewed no one would've said anything.
@Viper102650 who cares about the overhead? if thats the camera angle you use to see if goals went in or not, than what is the point of reviewing other camera angles? yeah see my point, what u said just sounds foolish no offense.
@LadyThriller No offense taken at all but the reason why they focused on the side view so much is because it looked like it went in. Why look at a clear cut angle like the overhead when you can draw up your own conclusions about a controversial one? But like I said, people need to watch what happened at 5:25 and unless I'm mistaken, every angle must be conclusive of a goal otherwise it doesn't count. One looks conclusive (side), the other not even close (top)
@Viper102650 but even if one angle shows it's in than it should count, there have been many instances where goals were allowed in when even on camera angle didn't show the puck across the line, that's why every calgarian is upset, because the goal was in, if one camera angle doesnt show the puck, than you move on to another camera angle, in the overhead you cant even see the god damn puck, any way u look at it, A camera angle showed that it was in, it doesnt matter which camera angle it was.
@LadyThriller well that's exactly my point, you can't see the puck when you look at it in the overhead. So why should it be ruled a goal? I agree, the puck looks like it went in when from the side view. But the crossbar lines up with the goal line and if you can't see a puck behind the crossbar then isn't it possible that it only just looks like it went in? By rule the entire puck must cross the line, not some of it. As you said, you can't see a damn thing overhead. That's why it's no goal.
@LadyThriller I didn't because that's not how the NHL officially rules a goal. Every angle must show indisputable evidence of being in for a goal count. It looks like it's in from one view (side) but not another (top). I'm not sure what criteria the NHL used in ruling no goal but I imagine that had a lot to do with it.
the puck was in the air but not enough to stay on the line... Calgary got robbed in 2004... thats because bettman wants the u.s the always win the cup
what a shame. This was the probably Calgary's one true chance to win the stanley cup with Jarome Iginla but it was all taken away. Jarome Iginla is a champion and I'm not even a Flames fan. I just respect the guy that much and the Calgary Flames deserved the cup in '04.

i have to say they made the right call, and its not like they didn't have more time because calgary still had game seven to win and they didn't so its not all because of that "goal"
@dg79511876 yah the flames could have won in game 7 but do you know the last time the stanley cup was won away from home ice on a game 7? its only happened twice and not since 1971 home ice is a huge factor there shouldnt have bin a game 7
@TQuong i know but they also had more time in the 3rd period before OT, and then they still had all of overtime before it went to 2ot, though they didnt review on the ice, it should have been.
The overhead replay at 5:20 pretty much shows that it wasn't a goal. I know it wasn't necessarily conclusive, but I have to say that I'm pretty sure they made the right call. I would have loved to see the flames hoist the cup, but I'm not convinced it was in.
that makes me so mad, our whole city went nuts that year. if we won the cup. which we should of that would of been absoloutley unbelievable. still makes me mad 7 years later.

awesome highlights. I'm not even a fan of either team. I like the Sabres but its sweet to have Stanley Cup finals highlights online.
