Speaking as a Boston native who has heard too many bad attempts at our accent, especially in movies and TV episodes: If you want to get the accent down, you need to study this guy's pronunciation of "tot lot" at 0:58 --- that short-o vowel sound is tricky and it is essential to the accent. Anyone can say "aaah" instead of "r", that is the easy paaht.
@beijoso That bothers me so much when people mess that up. It's just as simple as listening closely to recordings of native speakers, something you should ALWAYS do when learning an accent.
i think it's sad that almost everyone watching/who watched the video had absolutely no interest in the politics aspect of the video, only the accent. including me, of course
lol. u know what's funny? that's a boston accent, but VERY FEW people you meet on the streets of boston talk like that XD is it also a boston accent to say idea with that r at the end like idear?
@Fishcrazy321 It depends on what part of Boston you live in and frequent. I've lived in the area all my life and I first heard an accent like this when I was 15. My current boss has one too.
@ullilet ROFLMAO! No it can't "be both ways" moron. "You're" means "you are". "Your" means "belongs to you", like "your car, your house,". Get it? Another product of a public education are we?
@ullilet LOL.....no it can't be both ways.....your means "possession"....like that's your car. "You're" is a contraction for "you are"...like you're (you are) going to the store
@brokenmiind The first time you wrote back to me part of your comment was in Russian. I don't know how to read it but I was asking why did you write that. Don't you see it?
@brokenmiind Hail naw, dudes from Bmore have the weirdest twangy accent half east coast and the rest I donno where the fuck they get their phonetics from. And, LA's native gangstas sound funny with all of them hard ass R's sounding propeRR like "Yo dohg don't be hangin' ahn my coRneRs fool." Lol. But, of course we all sound weird to each other. :D
@brokenmiind I kid you not. When I first heard 'em it through me off especially a person with a strong Bmore City accent. People from there always kept saying that people here talk proper. I was even told I talked like I was from Boston but I'm not sure why the dude would think that? And this was long before I heard what a Boston accent sounded like.
@brokenmiind The way blacks and any other person growing up in Bmore City's black neighborhoods talk different. I.e: dog-dug, job-jub, you-yew (all their o's sound funny), father-fawther kinda like NY but in a lazier tone. In Philly, it's impossible to produce those phonetics naturally but we do have oawn and woorder or woordah in common along the east coast.
love this! feels like home when I hear this guy talkin just because it sounds so normal to me and what I'm used to hearing. Its the worst when ppl try to imitate Boston accents and its so over exaggerated and sounds nothin like it. But it so natural for this guy, I love how it just flows and its so laid back - how Boston should be.
I never dated any guys from the north. Why? Because my name is Barbara and I go by Barb. Up there, I am known as Bob. I couldn't imagine becoming sexually aroused to "Oooooh Bob!! You are so hot Bob!!!!!!"
The audio aspect of it is only part of the experience. If only youtube could blow stale Dunkies coffee breath (or stale Bud Light breath if it's later than noon) through your monitor!
Hell, you could order a meal and you would still sound like you're gonna beat the living shit out of everyone if your steak isn't cooked to perfection.BOSS I tell you.
It sounds similar, although the Australian accent derives from the Cockeny accent from London in England so it's a mixture of both Australian and a Northern English accent to me.
I love MA but it's like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Almost as bad as NY LI or NJ. But then again it is what makes us all unique, it would be boring if we all had a flat northern accent.
The Tahp Ten things Ta look out Foha in Bahstun 10:Pahl Reveah"s Silvah at the museum of Fine Ahts. 9:Two Headed Lobstahs in Bahstun Hahbah. 8:A wicked lot of beahs at Cheahs. 7:Bunka Hill Mahnument. 6:Oystah chowdah in Quincy Mahcut. 5:Fenway Pahk. 4:Bahgins at Neiman mahcus. 3:Dawchestah, Reveah and Summahvul. 2:Pahkin yah cah in Hahvid Yahd aftah dahk. 1: The plate numbah of that cah on yah bumpah.
many idiots with authoritative voices love the sound of their voice. They go all about the place pretending to exercise statutory powers (if they ever even understood them), they are on a power trip, pathetic little self-absorbed egotists.
Sounds a bit like the Italian-American accent ( seeing as the speaker's Italian-American ), the tone as if the speaker's trying to cut off the words in the end.
People tell me I have an accent that is similar as a Southern, Irish, British, or Boston accent.
I guess it's normal that everytime someone says I have an accent; I say to myself
'Well how do you think I feel everytime I talk to you!"
I don't mean it in a bad way but really, I have been told I have an accent of places I've never been to long enough to get an accent from there. I don't even have a New Yorker accent and I lived here nearly all my life so far.
