  • To bad his addiction was in full swing here. He's really strung out on the H by 1996, wrote great songs, just couldnt perform worth a shit when he was FU. Another great performer sucked in to the "H" machine! RIP

  • i just dont understand it,,,, never will understand it, dont want to understand it...... WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO LAYNE

  • The guy at the beginning also played in the movie Drugstore Cowboy...Great movie if you like drug movies!!

  • Layne Staley: the only man I know of who can pull off pink hair. :) Great show, btw-thanks for uploading.

  • @Rookh13 well kurt cobain did too....

  • @shortlimb1 Good point. Okay...one of two.

  • @shortlimb1 and they both died on April 5th. :(

  • the guy introducing them played a crime scene video recorder in the popular tv show called homicide. I think his name was Brody. good show and good song

  • Fucking Starr man.. Fucking Layne Mann..

  • I am reminded that "only the good die

Young."& this Must mean that I will live forever .....

  • greenaiden555 is a complete fuckit, wake up and dont breath, cockhead

  • That's the wrong address. 4528 8th Avenue NE unit 5C, Seattle, WA is correct.

  • he died on the 5th, not 20th.

  • @chaoss610

He Meant When He Was Found...They Said He Had Been Dead For 2 Weeks Sitting Upright On A Couch...

Sad... We Lost A Musician Like No Other That Day...

  • fkin kewl

  • Hell freakin' yeah!!!

    \,,/, ,\,,/

  • Thumbs up if Layne and Mike never died!!! they just needed the Rev on drums! cant wait to hear that record!

  • I love AIC. Why are you attacking the Jonas Bros. They are talented and entertain people. True they aren't heroin using junkies but that doesn't make them lame and they cater to a certain group of people. AIC STILL ROCKS even without Layne and Mikie! RIP

  • @boilerdevil1 their not even a real band their just a group for disney and to entertain little gay boys and little girls

  • @boilerdevil1 dude you don't have the right to to say AIC rocks in the post where you defend JB... us rockers go through a rite of passage and that includes denying pop-ass smite like JB, because of what they stand for.. pure entertainment.. AIC had a msg, several really... when 'you' say AIC ROX, that's what we mean! denying 'gay-ass' crap, you should know that, as our culture is VERY clear. ( to even those who don't live it )

  • Recall when these guys were just starting out in Seattle, the Rocket magazine used to just rip them a new one each and every issue, basically saying they were the baddest band in the history of rock n' roll.

Turns out AIC was the baddest, the sickest, the best rock to come out of Seattle since Hendrix.

Long live critics. If they go left, just go right, and you will never go wrong.

  • Fuck, every Alice in Chains video on YouTube is followed by an endless stream of "Heroin Chat starring Layne". Yeah, it swallowed him, we all know it. Say something about the music. Or did I wander into a world full of reporters for Entertainment Tonight?

  • @NuggetPumpkin

you are right....I guess it's just he was such a great talent.

we wish he was here, because he was so talented. A lot

of the stuff in mainstream is just crap. Switchfoot is good.

Also, Third Day. They are just good musicians, with good

    songs. That's all.

  • @davedorger youre right,he and mark were very close,in fact if im not mistaken, lanegan was one of his closest friends.mark was also really tight with kurt cobain though kurt and layne didnt know eachother very well which i find ironic

  • the line"i bet it really eats you up" is so bad ass,i dont know who hes talking to but hes sticking it to whoever it was

  • This isn't rare!?....

  • Layne was dated at a 4/05/2002 for death, his body was found on 4/20/2005. The estimated death time can be from 4/02/2002 to 4/07/2002, but from the evidence it was most likely on the 5th of April in 2002.

  • @sirbeefofmatt Layne's body was found on April 19, 2002. He was positively identified on Saturday and that was when his death was announced. The coroner's report says he died April, 5, 2002, 14 days from the finding of his

    body.

  • @davedorger what did he tell mark?

  • Imagine how much that guy cried... I know I did.

  • wtf layne died on 420...ill smoke in his memory

  • @F2pSkill99 No he was found on the 20th. The coroner put his death as April 5th.

    Still missing Layne :(

  • William did love hate love amazing, even Jerry said after the song at monmouth nj, it gives him chills. Rooster was still better than 2006, and Wills come a long way since then, I'd say down in a hole was weak as well, but even cantrell was off. No one can EVER replace Layne, but with the exception of those two songs, I'd say AIC has a perfect substitute and he's amazing on guitar as well!

  • I heart you Layne ..

  • ^^ I just saw them in concert a couple days ago. They were amazinggg. But the original lead singer can never be replaceddd <333

  • @kaylayiswonderful I saw them two days in a row this weekend, and I had to close my eyes.....

He sounds like Layne, but isn't Layne.

  • @MedicBarbie it's true saw them october 9th 2010.... jerry is a god..

  • The only reason inez got the job was because he is the only person on earth with thicker hair than star.

  • @TIGERSDFW and in most interviews he is all smiling and shit. ROCK ON AIC!!

  • I'm always amazed how different each performance is for AIC. Too bad there isn't more care to release all of the different live recordings out there.

For instance, every time I listen to "God Am" I think about how different the studio version is from the live performance in MO in 1996.

  • Amazing.

  • Look at Mike KILLING that bass, fucking sick.

  • I remember this..it was on a show called Saturday Night something or another, Not SNL...anyone know ??

  • @ecodirtrider

    SNL means Saturday Night Live.

  • layne was a very talented musician its so sad he didnt get help with his addiction, but maybe he didn't want help i don't know, i love his singing his wa one of my favorite singers had such a great voice, Layne and Jerry had such great harmomy together, man I miss Layne so much, rest in peace Layne

  • amen to that man, well said

  • Mushrooms kinda cool.

  • This had 2 b b4 Unplugged or justice after...

  • @x20Tours it was right after. unplugged was the first show after the break they took

  • For fuck's sake guys! Quit doin the hard stuff! That shit is just life sucking! Smoke a joint, and maybe enjoy a few drinks now and then. I'm so sick of losing my friends. I'm only 31 years old. Shit ain't right.

  • drugs blow ass, been their done that, hail to weed thats good for you

  • 3:57 That was awesome!

  • we'll exchange numbers.... lol thatta boy Layne

  • this is from mad TV

  • yaaaaaaaaa! alice in chains foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Is this on SNL?

  • Why is it that great musicians like this have to leave this world while shit like the Jonas Brothers DOMINATE the music industry?

  • Because the Devil has a sick sense of humor. Of course not even Old Sparky himself could tolerate the fucking Jonas Brothers...

  • @GreenAiden555 because people love stupid shit.

  • @GreenAiden555 amen.....

Weiland said it the best the other night in Camden... "we would like to introduce the last of the great rock and roll movement, Jerry Cantrell"

  • @GreenAiden555 because music has become an "industry". quantity over quality

  • hey jeanbean, Im sober for 10 days now, all that hurts now is the leg cramps and they are going away. hopefully we both kick it.

  • yo man...i dont know you but have you been off the shit since you last wrote yoru comment here? im kicking the dillys right now.

  • lol @ dilaudid.. that shit sucks.. get some oh please.. ( oc ) or some oxy5 ( oc ) or some oh jeeze.. ( oc ) .. just kiddin.. just thought it was funny i knew what dilly was.. heh ^_^

    long live alice n chains!!!

  • dilly in a vein will blow most away, totally diff. than snortin,it's like H.opiates are hard to kick after prolonged use.god bless anyone who can beat it

  • @oxypimp.. thats horrible.. so what happens exactly when a vein gets blown out?? that sounds so bad.. oh i know they are hard to kick.. im battling oxy on and off right now.. thank god for suboxone.. thank the good lord for that! anyone addicted to opiated and wants to quit, go get yourself a fucking perscription for suboxone you will thank me if you dont know about it

  • my battle is over, just commenting on ur lack of knowledge of dills.U think i wouldn't know about Subs when i have knowledge of spiking. For someone that is battling opiates you sure come of aggresive and with a lack of compassion unlike most addicts to this drug by cursing at me. Sounds like you only use subs when u cant score or get ur scripts of the goodies.I wish u the best,i have seen them all, A-Z,good luck and god bless.Sincerely. (oxy 5,LOL)

  • yeah oxypimp, I almost started laughing out loud when I read "oxy5"... rofl

pezocon is one of those guys who is "addicted" to vicodin but tries to come off as being a longtime, hardcore opiate user.

he laughs at dilaudid and says it sucks, then says "get some oxy5"... LOL, what the fuck.

pezocon, you're such a tool. seriously. how old are you, 15?

"I NEEd SOME SUBOXONE FOR MY OXY5 ADDICTION" LOL

i take suboxone, but that's because i was heavily addicted to H, using over 7 bags a shot...

  • @elitet0kr i feel ya,i was just replying to what the kid said and caught shit from it thru some youtubers.Just being real about those types of drugs. haha though, your message made me laugh.

  • yeah oxypimp, PezoCon is a fucking moron. he likes to lurk around AiC videos, posting nonsense when he pleases.

the norm for him would be posting something like "hey guys I just wanna say that I can relate with Layne so much. I've been dealing with an oxy habit on and off for the past couple days and I'm having trouble stopping. I now know how Layne felt, how it is to be TRULY addicted to opiates, except oxy5 is so much worse than heroin... Opiates are so terrible. Long Live Layne" rofl

  • @elitet0kr i have a friend who's like that i've been using for 2 years and the last year only using opana and my tolerence spiked to 70-90mg a day which is ridiculous as i buy off the street and i blow all my fucking money and am miserable. i switch on and off from sub to using. only spiked tar once and couldnt continue that road too much guilt would break my girl and family apart not worth losing them, even though im not doing any better. good luck to ya, maybe your clean by now

  • Such a loss, i seen them at Palooza 93 they where higher then shit but rocked the place out hard ahhh the good old days!

  • Hell yeah dude. Smoke weed!

  • the intro is a joke. does that guy really look like he'd hang out with those guys?

    no

  • @eyesofforever maybe so he played duelie on the movie blow so they may be hanging out getting fucked up

  • @eyesofforever Is that Adam Horovitz aka Ad-Rock from Beasie Boys?

  • Nice Intro... Why wouldn't the boys want to hang with him?

  • Because he is a fagot with a tuba

    "shit!!"

  • at the end you can see where jerry went to layne to support him...fucking dope man i feel that im dope sick right now./.trying to kick it again..

  • i guarantee you don't do drugs and you're just trying to sound cool

  • good luck with that. seriously, all the best

  • I hope ya kicked your habbit. Been there myself. I'm almost two months clean from the prescription painkillers. Anyway, great clip!

  • lol..i dont see/hear any problem when layne sing this song...its great..

  • "but we can hang out right?"

    Layne just nods his head.

    Brilliant.

  • why is he singing so poorly in this video? he isnt hitting any of the notes he normally can with out a problem...

  • guy was doped out on H for half his life; unplugged mtv was the first time they had all played live in 3 years or something - any surprise that he could barely hold it together here?

  • this was after the mtv thing wasnt it?

  • Pretty sure, yeah...I'm saying that before Unplugged was filmed they hadn't played much of anything live together for a few years. Even after they did Unplugged, he was still high most of the time.

  • Get your facts right. Unplugged performance was the first live appearance in 2 and a half years. Not bad since the band toured non stop from 1987 to end of 1993. This perfromance is fine. Goes with the mood of the song. Staley was not high here.

  • sorry was this in response ot me? so you're arguing on my definition of "a few", and then telling me I need to get my facts straight? Interesting, but unnecessary.

I know Staley was not high here, I didn't say that. But he looks like he wants to be which is almost worse.

  • Lets see you said that it was the bands first show in 3 years or something. So the something being even more. So your thinking is that AIC last played in 1992??? I was just stating facts that the bands last show was actually Jan 94. So just over 2 years. I know AIC inside out and its always fun to correct people. So yeah It was necessary.

  • necessary for you, but that's called "trolling" by others. have fun with that.

  • No necessary for AIC fans. Everywhere I hear the same crap. Its the first show in 3 years blah blah......

  • drugs

  • And I wonder why that is....

  • haha you know on 420 at this concert everyone was fucken stoned

  • He lived on the top floor 5th floor.

  • dude its not fucking rare get it right

  • It's quite rare given the fact that this video version is 20 secs longer than previously known

  • lol

  • damn this sounds better than the actual shit.

  • We'll exchange numbers....later

  • all is well what you are all saying but realty is ,he know what he was doing and how dangers that drug speed ball are .its a huge problem when you became a famous person fast, and the music biss.pushes one person limits some cant handle this so drugs are the way out for some and, to late for outhers .laynes voise will be hard to replase only in sprit the show gos on .ill miss that voise as outhers will do the same only pain gos to his love ones and his follower how play his music like i do....

  • im gona google earth that address, id love to see his appartment even though that was where his most depressing days are at. Does anyone here live near Seattle? I was wondering if grunge is still embrased up there i mean is AIC, Nirvana Peral Jam ect, still i cant explain it if you know what i mean

  • from what ive heard grunge has kinda become a 4-letter-word around there. People are sorta sick of it.

  • That's because the media termed the music grunge. And as we all know the media are parent hungry vuktures.

  • Parent hungry vultures?

Mmmm...I'm a vulture and I'm hungry for some parents!

  • No silly vultures cannot type. They just fly

  • As they should be. Just call it what it is...ROCK 'N ROLL!!!

  • Another interesting rare Alice In Chains song, is called Fairy Tale Love Story. I down loaded it on it my ipod a long while back, you should all check it out. It's not bad, sadly I didn't get enough info on the song, it sounds like it was made around the same time they started out. If I'm correct

  • it fukin makes me sick to think of the subtance abuse that caused my favorite band to die.being a recovering addict, his message is clear to me.fuk that shit.RIP to the best frontman ever Layne Staley, see you when i get there.

  • Yeah and he used to go to the local bar and sit at a table at the back and drink alone. No one bothered him those times he would go. Very sad....I mean no disrespect, but his last few years were terribly depressing.

  • nitrous is right- Layne's condo was in the U-district, 8th & 45th. That's where he lived his last days, that's where he died.

  • Heroin had taken almost full hold of him by this point. But even yet, his freaking voice man, his voice was still great. It's sad to see Jerry, Mike, & Sean rocking the hell out during the "yeah...doo doo" part and Layne is just standing there 'on the nod'. It's also sad to see the crowd. They were having the time of their life. They had no idea this was close to AiC's last performance as a band. Ugh

  • I agree fully, and he lost Demri that year. I just wish he was here making more music, art and poetry for us. I want to see a healthy Layne. Heroin and Crack had such an enormous changing in him. RIP LTS 67-02

  • he gave everyone a lesson in life by showing what drugs did to his. unfortunately, most didn't receive this message from him and layne lamented the fact that most of the fans didn't get the message of suffering and torment that came from "dirt". most people don't pay attention to lyrics though. real music tells stories and inspires. layne was always good for that.

  • Layne's dead and his memory still lives on. Fuck all the shit talk about how or why it happened. It just happened and it doesn't matter at all right now. Remember him for being one of the greatest singers of all time and for being a cool dude who just happened to be a junkie. I love him either way.

  • i am not sure of your sources (nitrousoxide2k) and you must have gone to a wrong apartment. on the death & police records the address on both papers are the ones posted above,i am just sharing with you my knowing of the address, you may want to re-check the apartment you had gone to.

  • @laynestaley02 i dont think his address was any of our buisness, that dude going to his apt. is rock necrophilia, sorry for being two years late,im sure youre confused

  • this is like around the time when they did unplugged.

  • yea becuase he had pink hair 2 in 96

  • "13343 Bel Red Rd. city Bellevue.county : King in washington"

Sorry to tell you, that's not his address. I've been to his condo. I'm not going to actually disclose his address, but I will tell you that it's in the University District, about 10 miles away from Bellevue.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think it's that address?

  • Good flick! one of my favorite songs by them...Junkhead demo version is also a great fucking song. Post more live shit please...

  • Layne is fucked up...he must of kicked himself after this performance. He can do 500% better then this...bummer..it's obvious he just shot up on the bathroom..

  • real nice comment. jack ass . layne was a very sick person. its pretty easy to state the obvious .

  • may i ask how you know that was Layne's address?

  • I know many band try to emulate this, but this is the real deal and those trying always seem to fail.

  • Check out the rare remix of AGAIN on my channel...not the tattoo of pain on another one!

  • Honestly if there is a heaven and I met Layne there, I would deck him once and then hug him.

  • The whining dork at the beginning of this video (an "actor" by the name of Max Perlich") looks and sounds like a real turd.

I love Layne's halfhearted reply of "We'll exchange numbers later ... if we want" and Perlich's pleading "But we did hang out though, right?" Layne's facial expression at the :34 to :35 second mark sums it all up. Fookin' great. I LOVE IT! Hope they smacked him around a bit backstage after that horrendous introduction by Perlich.

  • He was funny in Drugstore Cowboy. He played a teenage junkie.

  • I dont know what your talkin about layne stanley is amazing proboly the best grunge sinnger their ever was and will be

  • They opened with this song in Atlanta in 06. Great clip of them I hadn't seen before.

  • He was an actor back in the 80s and 90s and was famous in his own right. It was just a act and typical type of part he played.

  • The guy that is hosting it is saying how he did a video for AIC and then when they were making the video, they were like really good friends and that and then when they finished, he never heard from them again, then layne said that they can exchange numbers later....., then the guy says, but we can still hang out though right? and then layne says yeah and nods.... lol

haha i dont know why layne died hes hair pink lol it still looks good on him xD

    R.I.P♥

  • I don't really hear what that guy and Layne are talking about.. someone please?

    :)

  • This was a good peformance, that that guy with the hat is too desperate. If he was really was a great friend with layne, layne wouldn't have speedball'd himself to death. If i was layne's friend i wouldnt have been that pushy on him.I would talk to layne about his problems and relate to them with mine, thats what friends do.Maybe if Layne understood how many people cared for him he would regret ever taking drugs.I blame Laynes dad. If i ever meet him one day I would beat his fucking face in.

  • Layne did regret his use of drugs. People did reach out to him. Layne insisted on being left alone. Drugs were Layne's choice, not his Dad's. Layne lived 50 years in 5. His music will stand. Drugs were a part of the process.

  • turd

  • yeah but his dad didnt help at all, he just made the problem worse. and if someone thats hooked on drugs and was left alone for too long that tells you something is wrong. i wish something could have been done to save him, this world is too desperate for good music.

  • Agreed.

  • dude the guy just lose is will to live and got what he wanted as much as it sucks believe me I wish he was alive shit my son's name is Layne but he got what he wanted he felt he'd be better off dead

  • My sweet Layne... I miss you every day of my life,I love you and miss you more than any words could ever describe. I'll see u on the other side love.

  • layne the man!!!

  • Haha, I love ya Layne. You are missed so much and went through so much shit. R.I.P

  • ROCK IN PEACE LAYNE

  • he looks bad. Damn you drugs

  • i wish layne could still sing in this era

  • We'll exchange numbers!!! Wonder mhat he wanted to really say. Thats funny sh*t.

  • ROCK IN PEACE LAYNE!

  • that guy in the beginning annoys me

  • id really love to know what Layne says after the 'beginning guy's' monologue, to which Layne replies, but he wont even let him finish, to which Layne nods his head in a distinctive manner LOL, im not a native speaker and it would make a world of difference if one of you could be kind enough and translate what exactly Layne says there at beginning,i can understand some, but not all of it, thank you in advance

  • He says...

"We will exchange numbers later...if you..."

Then the guy asks "but we did hang out?"

And layne replies... "uh yea yea..."

  • thanks man:) it makes so much sense if u read between the lines:) but u have to understand it first;) THX

  • U know Layne is saying fuck U in his head

  • LAYNE lives within!

    The god is not forgotten!

  • I hope there is a heaven...and that layne is GOD! It would Rock, literally! NO ONE is greater than Layne, NO ONE!

  • layne voice is fucked up, though doing his best it's clear he is too weack and jerry's guitar too it's a bit out of time, they must had been very stressed.. thank for posting miss you layne.

  • This is just 10 days after the unplugged show was recorded. One of the laynes final appearances.

    Thanks for posting!

  • his wings are denied no more....lets not dwell on his existance in the physiacal world but let us feel the warmth off his spirit that still reverberates within us with a great resonance. he was a mirror for me in my hardest times and I feel as if he took a bullet for me.

  • if u learned something about his tragic departure... maybe he got earned some wings after all

  • It hurts so much when I see like that... I hate it! His spirit and his energy are so beaten down, he can hardly belt out any words or even move around like before... It still hurts, I miss him more than words could ever explain.

  • I love to see anything Alice in Chains but poor Layne is looking a little rough for sure. The drugs started to effect his magnificant voice. And I think the fact that he lost some key teeth contributed to that as well. But before the drugs ravaged his body he was absolutely amazing, gorgous and sooo talented. RIP Layne

  • poor layne...hes looking a little rough in this vid...............WHYD HE HAVE TO GO????

  • great footage...

...the announcer is actor Max Perlich

  • FUCK!!! ITS GENIAL :)
